Amiens giving Cardiff a bit back tonight, 3 nil after 2.
Edit - Cardiff all the way back and win in overtime.

David Dimms is at it again....
Just bizarre and cringeworthy. Clearly he gets final say on what they publish on what they publish because anyone with a brain-cell knows that this is at best pathetic and embarrassing, while at worst it's pathetic and racist.

I hope our lads see it and it gives them the fire they need for the games against them this season

How has he still got a job?
Calling us the b@st@rds from Nottingham and then the kids can incident.
Wonder why the league isn’t taken seriously and then the moron opens his mouth. Xenophobia at its finest

Truly a 10W bulb in a 100W world. Grow up Dave and leave the 1950's behind. I'm voting for the second: pathetic and racist. Hopefully the team will see it and make him eat his words

Bit the bullet and watched for myself. Not anyway near as bad as I expected. It's not really fit for todays world but it's all been blown way out of proportion again. The bloke really doesn't help himself and adding this to his track record shows him to still be an embaressment to the league. Dont really see it as a sackable offense myself.

Given it’s Xenophobia and his track record I don’t think people are blowing it out of proportion, also I’d imagine quite a lot of businesses would be angry if an employee said they dislike certain customers (fans) and colleagues (players) purely based on their place of birth and that’s without taking into consideration the fact he’s a club spokesperson and it was put out on social media for everyone to see

Dave being Dave. Not overly clever, but tongue firmly in cheek. Was it actually ever on the Steelers official website? Looks a bit amateur for that?

Should we expect anything different from him? No action will be taken because, 'well it's Simmsy, you know what he is like'. Just as well the other dinosaur from that ilk is no longer with us, or else I could see Paredes being on camera with a 'Vive Le France' t-shirt on it, ala team hollywood from some years back.

What sort of message does it give internationally, e.g. CHL, if the UK's premier league allows this sorts of comment to be made without any apparent sanction/disclaimer?

It was posted on Steelers Twitter account then promptly deleted once the backlash started. I agree it was meant to be tongue in cheek etc. but as soon as he said ‘more of a reason to dislike them if you ask me’ is where it crossed the line imo becoming unprofessional and pretty much xenophobic.

It was yes but got swiftly removed when noticed by the wrong people within steelers organisation I'd imagine

Let’s put it this way. If Steelers had any French sponsors it would not have happened. So this should not have happened.

is it worth pointing out that we haven't gone 'all French', we have a French coach but no players. And actually it's the Arena who charges for the tickets not the Panthers and the Arena wouldn't care where the Panthers coach is from. So neither of those points are actually correct. but the fact that I've actually typed a reply lends more importance to his statements than they ever deserve, and frankly if the Star could be bothered, they'd cite this as a great example of Simms doing his job in stirring up the rivalry that has gone rather bland recently.

I see Mr Simms has got exactly the response he wanted, he's trying to stoke a rivalry that is no longer there, to put bums on seats and to wind the opposition up and to all intent & purpose he's totally achieved that. My lot have done the best thing and that's stay away from Sheffield and don't give them any money, don't have him on Twitter and don't follow him on social media problem solved. Just need our lot to beat them at the weekend now or we'll never hear the end of it. fingers crossed.

I'll be see a game on Saturday more than half the price of the game on Sunday.. all I care about is my own back pocket not Simms ego .. he's a dinosaur who should be made extinct.. the league will be better thought when he's gone.

I don’t think he has a lot left to prove. He’s head and shoulders the best Brit in the game for years

He’s head and shoulders the best Brit in the game for years I think it’s more about finding his level than proving himself, being signed to the Coyotes meant that he had access to some great opportunities but now that he’s solo, how his career pans out will largely be down to his on ice performances

I was thinking more that he's now got to prove himself capable of being a regular contributor for his team. We've seen what he can do for GB, and he did well in short stints at Tucson, Atlanta and Jukerit. But it's a fresh start in a new league where there will be expectation. Good luck, hope we don't see him back in the UK any time soon.

At 27.52 of tonight's CHL between Innsbruck and Belfast, Giants Norris gets a 2min penalty for 'engaging with spectators'. Imagination running riot but is this Eurospeak for delaying the game ?
