When you can't be bothered to update the Roster Update page individually so you just cut and paste the same mistake from previous updates and just change the name and number: "Manchester Storm have registered non-homgrown player Joe Morrow. Storm have 3 non-homegrown roster places remaining... Manchester Storm have registered non-homgrown player Matt Murphy. Storm have 2 non-homegrown roster places remaining..." I can't think of another reason why the same "homgrown" typo would occur at the she place... www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3302-2023-24-roster-updates

It's really beyond me how even a quick visual scan before publishing doesn't flag up a word salad first paragraph like this... "A former first round, #23 overall pick, the 30-year-old Boston Bruins, Montreal Canadiens and Winnipeg Jets during his time in the show" www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3316-storm-sign-former-nhler-morrow

I see they are telling us that certain players are signed as “injury reserve”. I’ll bet good money that once the injured player returns, we get told nothing about the then revised status of the player signed as cover.

“The Panthers made an excellent start to the game with pucks thrown at Ben Bowns' net from the net.
The hosts also saw Ott Nieminen hit the post in the opening period…
Tyler Busch levelled for the improved Devils 3:59 into period two with a quick release through Rok Stojanovič's five whole…”
All it would take is a measured 60 second read through of the prose, before rushing to hit the “publish” button, and anyone with with half an idea would spot these careless mistakes. The fact that it just keeps happening smacks of no-one even caring, perhaps not even noticing.

“Do or do for us, and them - Keefe”
FGS, this is the headline, in even bigger letters…

Yes. Quite how you get to "Do or do" is beyond me... It's actually a typo of the EIHL Media team motto. "Doo-doo for us and them".

“JD Dudek showed nice hands to create a great chance for himself but could beat Matt Greenfield shortly after…”
A sentence in need of a “not”. 🤣

It's 10pm now and it's still there. Not checked. Not re-read. Not bothered. Same old, to be done several more times over this season.

When you post the game report mid-morning the following day (so not written and published in a late night rush) but still don't spot glaring visual errors like... "Andreas Heier put Storm ahead @:39 into period two" Ironically it was just such a "two" he was searching for instead of @ www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3367-steelers-thrash-storm-in-cup

Article title: "Steelers go top with shutout win" Article first sentence: "Sheffield Steelers went top of the Elite League with a three-goal, shutout win over Dundee Stars" So far so accurate. After all Steelers won the game 3-0 Article content: "John Nicholls made it 2-2 for the Steelers with the man advantage at 17:58" Err, what now? Grade: Fail www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3379-steelers-go-top-with-shutout-win

Blaze win the game 6-1. Article content: "It took Ripley 7:41 to open the scoring for the hosts as the beneficiary off a terrible pass from a Flames defenseman behind his own net. Ryan Tait levelled at 12:52, but Ian McNulty one-timed a Brady Norrish pass beyond Eamon McAdam to put the Flames back ahead." According to the article Flames are now 2-1 up in a game where they only scored once. But that's probably because the EIHL seem to think McNulty and Norrish are Guildford players and not Blaze for some reason 🤦🏾♀️ I was going to say you couldn't make this up... but apparently that's what the EIHL are doing. Grade: Fail. Honorable mention: "beneficiary *of*" The following article is brought to you in association with Specsavers: www.eliteleague.co.uk/article/3381-ripley-hat-tricks-helps-blaze-put-6-past-flames

Maybe they were looking for a comma after the "beneficiary"? That would at least work a bit better, if still a little clunky. How difficult is it to have someone with a reasonable grasp of written English and more than a nano-eye for basic detail to write your website content? It's crap. This thread (and last year's) is proof of that.

That is just rubbish. That must just be a totally careless copy and paste error? His name's Josh, by the way.

There's barely a single game report this year that doesn't have at least one wrong name. But, like this weekend's Blaze/Flames report, at least assigning the right players to the wrong team is new 🙃🤦🏾♂️.

This thread (and last year's) is proof of that. The only grammatical place you could put a comma without making a fragment would be after hosts though. Not that that would probably bother them. So given their 'command' of English your suggestion could equally be as likely an explanation. It says something though when we're trying to guess which of the least worst mistakes they might have been aiming for 😜😱

That is just rubbish. That must just be a totally careless copy and paste error? His name's Josh, by the way. I think they were aiming at "2 from 2 on the powerplay" with that one. But yes, throwing in (perhaps x-throwing in?) a bit of shorthand is just what an Elite League match report needs.

Especially if that shorthand also happens to be their standard formulation in game reports for displaying something else: the score 😂
