Not one of our old boys, but Liam Kirk on the move from Litvinov, rumoured to heading for DEL and Berlin. 'Liam Kirk confirmed his reputation as a scorer in Litvínov, adding another 9 goals in the playoffs to his 19 goals in the regular season. But that's where his extra-league stint ends. If an offer from the NHL does not come, he should wear the jersey of Eisbären Berlin next season. ' although this statement might be nothing more than rumour mongering, EP give it some credence, and the following put more meat on the bones. - 'Liam has had a great season with us, he has left a big mark and we thank him for that. We are very sorry to see you go, but Liam has decided to move on in his career," says CEO Pavel Hynek. "Of course, Liam's passing is a huge loss. Although he came as a striker in the role of TOP9, his role was significantly greater. We were eminently interested in keeping him in Litvínov, and according to his agent, our offer was the same as the one he accepted elsewhere. He continues to dream of overseas, and his new club has close ties to the NHL. I would like to thank Liam for what he has done for Litvínov and wish him good luck for the future," adds sports manager Tomáš Vrábel.' taken from Litvinov website He's had a pretty good regular season and an outstanding play offs in a pretty tough league to play in. He's got the stats of a natural goalscorer, tell me a team who doesn't want one of them. Sounds like they've parted on good terms, which is always a good way to do so if needs must. Berlin is a heck of a place to live and play, average crowd nearly 14,000! Good luck to him.

Austin Cangelosi is departing Stjernen in Norway along with former Giant J.J. Piccinich according to EP. That will be a hell of a pairing to pick up if they both end up at the same team. They were good for a combined 113P this year and 126P last year.
So 237P in 167 games across the 2 years!

Please come back to us Austin. It would be a whole different atmosphere in the arena compared to when you last played.

We should be waving a uni deal under his nose right now, 2 years of Cangelosi would be immense.

We should be waving a uni deal under his nose right now, 2 years of Cangelosi would be immense. Personally I am hoping/expecting there to be some changes to the uni deal structure. The 2 years has often been more restrictive than it has turned positives for us. A 1 year deal (other clubs off this) still offers an extra incentive to a player but give the club more flexibility/options for additional years rather than being tied down too much… yes if we get the right player having that longer term is better but the club should want to retain the flexibility

So obviously that's not an option as you'd need to be there all day every day for the full academic year. However, the average part time completion schedule for the course is 3yrs. Panthers players get 2yrs on their contract so they're already on a significantly accelerated schedule. In other words the Panthers have already negotiated a deal that gives them the best possible option. Quality players on a deal that is a year less than the standard completion schedule. Hope that information helps

Not that would be appropriate for the players or available from our current sponsor. I suspect other teams that offer '1 year courses' are essentially offering the first year and then the players, I suspect, have to complete the remaining work in subsequent years to graduate. The way this course is taught our players can complete in two years easily if they're dedicated and, crucially, only need take *one day a week* on average away from training during the season. That's why it's an appealing course and why a player like Adam would sign up for it at that stage of his career: two years playing somewhere at the peak of your career and a chance to have an MBA banked by the end of those two years. For free. He could then play on or know his future career is set up. He was already thinking about what came next which is why we could get him at the peak of his career.

If it’s a guaranteed two years then those in charge of recruitment need to evaluate all potential scenarios which just feels like hasn’t happened in recent years and should only be offered to attract players who shouldn’t be in this league if it wasn’t for it like AJ

I often wonder if the pandemic never happened, could that have been Panthers that tied Herr down and made him C for multiple years. If only if only....

I don't think he would. Our recent track record on retaining the good players isn't great and it seemed to me that Herr would always go on to a better league.

Fairytale stuff in Rouen, Boivin scores the winner in OT to cap a fight back from 0-2 down in the series to win 4-2 and claim the title. Wonderful for him on a personal level having missed the first half of the season while being treated for testicular cancer.

Brad Lambert, son of former Panther Ross Lambert got a call up to the Jets yesterday, flying in in the morning before recording an assist in his first NHL game that night. The tie breaking goal was scored by fellow debutant Nikita Chibrikov in their 4-2 win over the Canucks www.nhl.com/jets/news/three-things-jets-end-regular-season-on-a-roll

Ex-Giant Steve Owre ends the season in the ICEHL as top scorer, which is an impressive feat. Will play next year in the Swiss second tier.

A certain ex Panthers import who played for us in 21/22 and 22/23 was at both the POFW & the GB game played here in Nottingham last week. He was asked if he was coming back to Nottingham in some capacity. He replied no as he doesn't get on with Omar Pacha (I'm sure he's far from the first player to have fallen out with an off ice team official). The players vs Coach Kevin Murphy for those with long memories is an example of that.
Hopefully there's not a theme developing here. Ollie Betteridge allegedly not happy with the set up of the club, subsequently linked to Cardiff. Tetlow apparently wanting out too. First heard that a few weeks ago.
Then there's a brit forward who hasn't yet heard anything from the club as to whether he's likely to be wanted back next season. And yes I do realise it's very early in the off season.
We could end up with a very different brit pack next season compared to the one that finished this past one.
One way or another it will be an interesting summer.....
