Panthers have so far scored 20 goals in the league. Only 1 of them has been scored in the first period. 10 have been scored in the second. SOG in those 2 periods are 93 and 88 respectively. Weird.

The weekly added stats, mainly assists to the last round of games, has happened, changing GRS detail and thus the Panthers personal stats (part4) too. Which also alters the all-time (part 8).
Keep an eye on the 'News bulletins on the OS which will state when GRS changes have happened.
The week seems to go Monday through to Sunday then the following Thursday sees any changes/corrections.

It also has added an assist to Norrish on the OT winner vs Stars, despite it 100% being Welsh. Anyhoo, some further little nuggets...
In league games 3-7, Panthers have scored 8 points. Games 3-7 2019-20 yielded 1 point. Matt Lane is off the mark in the league, with a post-review assist last Saturday. He's 2+3 in 5 GP in the Cup, though. Only 2 league goals have been scored by defencemen so far. The last 7 league goals have been scored by players with jersey numbers 43 and above. So far in the league, when Panthers score at least 1 goal, Betteridge has at last one point, having scored at least one in the first 4 games, the only player to do so. Baillargeon has scored at least one point in 4 of 5 cup games. Doherty is +8 in the Cup, next best are Lane and Baillargeon on +5. Panthers are playing 1.000 hockey when losing overall face offs in the Cup. 16 man games lost to injury in the 7 league games.
That'll do for now.

Nasty weekend for Panthers, "highlights" were...
Matheson -5 for the 2 games. Brassard +2. None of the forwards were a + rating over the 2 games. The only 2 forwards who didn't have at least 2 minuses over the weekend were Ollie and MCP. Despite the results, the shot count was 91-57 in Panthers favour. Panthers won 36 of 59 faceoffs vs Steelers, 61.0%, their best performance in any game this year. (Lane 9/12, Myers 14/23) Myers is 76/126, 60.3% in all Cup games so far.

Ollie Betteridge is recorded as having 5 blocked shots in 8 league games. All 5 came against Dundee on 6th November. Are these stats recorded by the league? They are recorded. Of sorts. The "Tracking" area of the game report shows all shots, split into shots that became goals, shots that were saved, blocked shots and "wide shots". Which as far as I can tell, aren't even a thing in hockey that needs recording? Certainly if you're barely capable of putting a coherent gamesheet together, recording stuff you don't need to seems a sidestep? Anyhoo, these are recorded, but aren't conveniently listed anywhere in the game stats (I have to count blocked shots by player by game by selecting "Blocked shots", hovering over the dots and recording who they belong to) and don't show anywhere except in the individual player stats where SOGs are recorded (i.e. "actual" shots) as well as "Shots", which I think are an unholy summation of actual SOGs, blocked shots and "missed" shots. Again, I've not really ever seen that recorded before. Takes a proper geek to put them in a database table by game, so they can be queried, sorted and graphed. Attachments:

Impressive work, the league are only playing at it in comparison to you! It’s interesting to see Doherty so high up in that graph, I’ve just had a look at the league game team stats and he is currently first in shots taken and joint second in SOG. Norrish is first in SOG. I know the Clan head coach talked about how active our dmen are in the offensive zone, it would be nice if we could start to convert some of these shots in to goals/assists though😂

Overall, so far, my records say 201/578 shots have been taken by the D, for a total of 7 goals and 23 assists. Not sure how that compares to any other team, that's the only issue. I only really have time to do this for one team. But... League only, it's 110/294 shots taken (37.4%) for 2+10 points. Looking at Coventry, perhaps our nearest comparator in the league just now, their D has 4+14 from 64 of 256 total shots. Their D certainly shoot a heck of a lot more efficiently than Panthers' D! Norrish, Doherty and Lane lead the team in league SOGs with 29, 28 and 27 respectively, yet to score a goal between them.

Just a couple of quickies. Boivin has not scored a point in the last 5 league games, all of which have been vs Scottish teams. (Actually the last 6) Neither has Matheson, though he did miss one under Covid protocols. Ollie's 2 points on Sunday were his first in 5. Same for Myers. Welsh has points in 4 of those 5. Lane's first league goal was Saturday night. Panthers PP is 2 for 12 in those games (after going 2 for 2 Sunday night, the first league PP goals since 6 November), the PK 16 for 22. Those 5 games have yielded 201 to 133 shots, 13 GF and 14 GA, with a goalie save % of 90.44%, GAA 2.62, and 4 points.

Sadly one of those two points for Ollie was taken away in the weekly changes to stats. Time to get more back hopefully tonight v Guildford. Matheson was also one to benefit with an assist on Sunday. The Thursday changes took away a Betteridge assist and others benefited. Souranta's goal taken away and given to Baillargeon from Fridays game. So the player stats have altered a bit in part 4. Oddly Sourant lost his goal and was also not even demoted to an assist? Anyhow, onwards and …

Some crackers from the weekend.
Stars beat Devils despite only having 11 shots to the Devils 32. Devils also have the crown so far of "Most shots for to lose the game" with 57, vs Fife 7 November, in a 3-1 defeat. The second period in that game gives the Devils the current lead in "Most shots in a period" this season, with 24. 24 times this season, an EIHL side has failed to register 24 shots in total in a game. In fact, 14 November, both sides failed to, Sheffield had 21, Devils had 16. Devils won 5-0, Stojanovic had 7 saves from 12 shots, Brust a shutout of sorts, on 4 shots in relief.
Storm won 70.4% of face offs in total vs Fife (the most of any team in one game this year) with Adam Brady going 17 for 21, 81%.
Best shutout this season in the league is shared between Carruth, 42 saves vs Blaze, 28 November; and Lindskoug, also 42 saves, vs Stars, 16 October.

In this slack moment of the season's schedule....an outrageous plug on my book. Something to read. Check out amazon.co.uk under books or Michael A Chambers I have also added another section (C) to part nine (History) in this thread.
FOREWORD
By David ‘Stef’ Litchfield - Panthers match night announcer.
When I first became properly acquainted with the world’s greatest sport in 1980 it quickly became apparent that, apart from the excitement and drama of the action on the ice, hockey was a game that readily lent itself to the side activity of statistical record keeping. This appealed greatly to my nerdy interest in such things and soon brought me into contact with fellow stats nut and Roadrunner Mick Chambers.
The nature of hockey’s status in this country means that record keeping often falls to willing volunteers to compile. We are fortunate that Mick’s commitment to discovering long forgotten players and teams means we have readily available information to refer to when that nagging question crops up. His dogged pursuit of sometimes tardy contacts such as myself has already brought us the robust Panthers retrospective ‘Nottingham Panthers Factual Scrapbook 1939-2007’.
I am delighted to have been asked by Mick to write a foreword for this further volume of names, numbers and obscure competitions. There will be something for everyone in this book and I am looking forward to discovering more about the history of our sport in the UK.
ED: ‘Stef’ mentions the ‘Nottingham Panthers Factual Scrapbook’ - the second of a statistical history of the team - it is planned to delve into a third term with an updated version 2011 to date. * Roadrunner – a term given to the regular away supporters in the early 1980’s
AND the first pages.....
1. The Game
‘After the Crimean war (1854-55) a regiment was formed containing for the most part soldiers from the ranks of the ‘English Crimean war veterans’. This regiment took the name of the Royal Canadian Rifles and established itself half in Halifax and half in Kingston, Ontario. Founded about the year 1860 it existed until 1870 when it was replaced by the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery…… The Royal Canadian Rifles occupied, at Kingston, the historic old building ‘Head of the Bridge Barracks’ which was situated opposite the port of Kingston.
It can be established without question that it was here (Kingston) that, about 1860, the Royal Canadian Rifles played ice hockey for the first time in the world. It is admitted, however, that the other section of the regiment stationed at Halifax also played ice hockey in the same epoch (1860-70) which is proved by the fact that the rules of the Halifax Hockey were adopted by members of the Canadian Royal Rifles stationed at Kingston’. This was a statement by Captain Sutherland (an eminent Canadian personality in sport) in an interview published in the Canadian ‘Whigstandard’ also reproduced in our own British publication, the Ice Hockey World - February 6th, 1936.
There was some thought of Halifax, Nova Scotia being the origin of the sport as it was their ‘established’ rules used by Kingston. Vince Lunney (writing in the ‘Montreal Standard’ January 1950) stated that ‘documents at that time reveal that ‘in Kingston shinny was the players delight’. Lunney had made comment that the year 1846 was a starting point yet Foster Hewitt’s book ‘Down the Ice’ put the date of 1867 more to when the puck was used in the shinny type game.
Whatever argument or debate Montreal, with the McGill students laid foundations for the sport and its popularity. W.F.Robertson, keen on ‘field hockey’ played in 1879 in England then returned to Montreal to preach the game to his fellow students and questioned the notion of being able to play it in a form on Canadian ice. According to the ‘All Sports Record’, ‘Ice hockey was first played in Montreal in December 1879….first regulations for the game were drawn by McGill student R.F.Smith on Robertson’s request and Smith said ‘..I drew up the first set of hockey rules and submitted them to Robertson and some fellow students at McGill on 17th September 1879’…. I used some field hockey rules, a few others I thought out myself, and mixed in some Rugby Football Rules, the latter being why hockey is an onside game’. A square puck was used, made from a rubber ball in the first game in December, and then inter-class matches followed.
By this portion of history it was Montreal as well as Halifax and Kingston that were debated over as to where the ‘Hockey Hall of Fame’ was to be erected. Kingston was the choice in the end and the obvious reason for it was when the game of Ice hockey had been officially started by use of a puck as opposed to a ball. Not the number of players, or when players changed on the fly or other. Captain Sutherland made the point to the committee that the puck as well as sticks, goals and skates were part of the Kingston game.
Therefore, the soldiers who carried with them their own tools of a homeland sport, who came from Europe, were attributed with being the founders of the game, playing with sticks akin to the sport of field hockey and a puck is cited as to when the game started and then spread upon Canadian lands. England would also lay honour to this game being played, at home (on ice) as the first ‘visions’ of a game of ‘ice hockey’. The game being similar to that of Bandy (on ice but with a ball) which was also played in Scandinavia, and other similar games that other lands ‘wielded’ some kind of stick and brandished it to hit an object, as with the likes of the Greeks, Irish (Hurley), Danes and Scots (Shinty). The French lay claim to the name ‘Hockey’ as coming from the word ‘hoquet’ – a shepherds crookd/curved stick.
So I guess this might also be a good time and space to wish all scribes/readers to this forum a Merry Christmas and hopefully a few more games in, a happy New Year.

Since recent postponements have been happening. It has been noticed that the 'post game' changes to the GRS has stopped. - actually started again 2/1/22 but usual notification on the OS not done this time. Well, at least they are not showing as changed on the OS with no detail movement as regards our last two games on the 11th and 12th of December. Noticed largely because the Elite would normally put up a weekly news bulletin saying changes had happened in order to allow us to view the altered sheets (though the games changed not mentioned, either by date/title or number)…
I understood that an outside source dealt with the checks on games and so why would this have stopped? Why has the changes not shown on the OS and why has there been no notification of what's happening?

Working from a half completed (as regards SOG anyway) GRS I have updated all parts bar those SOG stats. Notes left for self as regards the last two games on 11th and 12th also as we are still awaiting confirmation of any added/changes stats. NOW, tonight's game 26/12/21 added to that waiting list as not all figures are correct. - 2/1/22 all updated now

Better GRS tonight as all stats seem to tally and so totals added to this thread.
Still awaiting three games GRS in order to submit any figures. If we have no alteration to the 11th and 12th December games they will stay as originally posted on the OS. the 26th December games SOG will have to be taken as individual player total maybe should that sheet not be changed correctly. 2/1/22 all updated now with 29 as the excepted sog on us from 'player' stats as the GRS is still incomplete.
Mathiew Tousignant now has over 50 pims on his record CARR pass's Butler into 15th place all-time behind Frankie Killen now.
