Texpef either said that in jest or hes as dumb as his posts appear ! You are almost as old as I am Pidge you have seen the great Durham throw games before even in playoff and league games, I am NOT saying Cardiff threw the game but seriously its pre season they are here to get match fit as well just as much as the panthers are and I am absolutely sure that Lord does not want to give anything away before the season starts in earnest so really how much "effort" and "determination" were we really seeing from the red machine? Do you really have that little respect for Cardiff? (you've already shown your total lack of respect for the Panthers). Hockey teams - players and coaches - want to win. The delusion that they will slacken off at the slightest always baffles me. Cardiff certainly weren't holding back on the physical side, and that's always a good indicator. Tex... sticking the boot in is a dick move. Pidge has been banned for a week... just leave it at that, eh?

I don't think they took their foot off the gas really. Numerous players displayed their frustrations at times, Devils threw some decent hits and played with an edge you wouldn't expect in a measly friendly. They played aggressive and we never really retaliated which in part frustrated me, but we kept playing our game and as a result we won, so happy days. I was happy with the performance. I was impressed with the Kelsall-Betteridge-Hazeldine line. They forced many turnovers in brilliant positions, got a few good chances and never gave anything less than 100%. Great to see. Matheson, despite being relatively slow showed some class on the blueline, I think he's going to be a great guy to have as player assistant. I don't have any real complaints, I would like us to be more physical though, Jakobs and a couple of others kept getting hit hard and they clearly didn't like it. I can see it wearing us down if we don't push back a bit. But besides that, impressed and hopefully it's onwards and upwards from here. Another post I completely agree with, I can see Devils #15, Marjamaki, having to answer the bell a few times this season. He was throwing big hits last night, some were a while after the puck had left, I think teams may take exception if he plays like that, but I do like the way he plays. Matheson’s quality on the puck was evident last night. He always had an impact against us but I’ll admit I never focused on watching him when he was with Steelers. I’ll be dissapointed if he’s the one that has to sit out most games.

I’d imagine whoever sits out will still play regularly.

Didn't make it to the game last night, but it sounds like we did as well or better than most expected for the very first competitive game.
What was the attendance figures like? did the scoreboard improve the match night experience / atmosphere?

Whenever I remembered to look up at the scoreboard for the replays it was good, for the first ice hockey game it’s been used for the guys and gals making it all work did a super job. It was nice to see some past game highlights during an interval aswell.

Going for a 4-2 win for Devils tonight. Maybe an empty net goal. The team played well yesterday so think tonight will catch up with them considering Devils have had more games together so far. Panthers are shaping up well after 1 game.

Nil each after 1. Couple of minor penalties for us (for Spik), #92 (whichever one that is) for interference, and Tetlow for tripping.

2-0 loss. Not many will have seen it so hard to really tell too much. Over all, a split weekend.
Next weekend will be a better indication of where we’re at as a team

I think the poster means none in the 2nd period. Yup, none in the second. 2 more minors in the third though, #2 (hooking) and #26 (holding the stick). Looks like Carr was in goal, got our MotM.

I'm surprised that Whistle didn't feature.
I'll guess, we will see him next week

Do we know if DeSantis made his debut, or rested again?

Who was missing for the Devils ? From the-inferno it sounds like Bentivoglio (sp?) and Martin were both missing, and Mosey of course.
