At least we ain't Italy, they are getting roasted by Russia, 8-0 with a period left to play, they haven't scored in the tournament yet

Can't believe we lost against them in a friendly, think it was 5-2

This is the crux of it for me. Can GB exploit what is potentially a weaker D whilst nullifying the undoubtedly quality top 6 forwards? Doubt it .. GB don't have any offence. Theyve had like 29 shots in 2 games! This ones not taken a week to age badly...

No different than the Panthers beating Cardiff one night, then losing to MK the next. Teams have off nights sometimes and get punished, and usually get rewarded when they have a good night. Then you know all this anyway. If I gave you a fiver you'd moan it wasn't a tenner, instead of saying thanks for the fiver.

Some of it was factually correct, some wasn't. "GB doesn't have any offence" We had quite a bit today. Both in actual goals produced and chances created. Not going to defend the Denmark performance but which of the two games am I going to remember 10 years down the line? Nothing wrong with people enjoying a very positive performance in what was always going to be an extremely difficult tournament. We know we've not just suddenly become world beaters but today we managed to skate with and for large periods, matched some of the best the world has to offer. For me, that by far trumps yesterday's display. We could well be on the receiving end of another beating on Friday so let's just enjoy the moment. I'd say out of the 4 games, we've had 2 good performances, one so-so and one shocker. Offer me that last week and I'd have taken it.

Wow just wow, just like the Denmark game, I couldn't believe what I was watching (But this was in a good way)
That 1st Period, we played like we were their equals (I do not care if they took us lightly or not), we pressured them, got offensively minded and put shots on goal, Granted periods 2&3 weren't as great, but still we only lost 6-3. There were plenty of small victories in this game.
The looks on The American's faces during the game said it all and I would love to know the reaction to this from The American Media to this game, I think we embarrassed them and probably gave The Canadians a good laugh.
I'm sure there's going to be interest in Bowns, but I'm wondering if others are attracting attention too.
It's probably going to rest on this France game, it's been pointed out that they have players in some top leagues but they won't be on the ice at the same time, all the time and like other posters have said it's can we get to the French League players, it'll be tough but if they can play like they did against The American's, I can't see why not.
Did anyone think that The Panthers would have beaten Hamburg, Bern or Turku .
It'll be interesting to see what the performances are like against Finland and Slovakia

Exactly, if last Wednesday, somebody would have said that we would lose 3-1 to Germany and 6-3 to U.S.A. Which included equalizing and frustrating them, I would have laughed and asked what they were smoking.
Whatever happens during the rest of the tournament, I believe we've laid down the seeds to perhaps do even better in these type of tournaments in the future

Unless GB starts producing some good players very quickly we aren’t going to be doing better we’re going to be far worse, because a lot of this years team aren’t going to be around in a couple of years time. Who is going to replace the likes of Phillips,Myers,Shields,Phillips,Richardson etc because i don’t see many in the EIHL anywhere near the quality needed ?

Put it this way Iggy GB will go back down to 1A and I dont see them bouncing straight up for this reason. Like what's been mentioned let's enjoy the moment as it will be a fair while before this will be experienced again mate

Nothing I'd imagine they will have seen it merely as picking 3 points up on the way to qualification for the playoffs.

Didn't expect that and that's the point, so why are some of us putting the boot in. I'm enjoying the games, not all, but mostly because we all know our limits. Let's hope for the best in the last three games.

The BBC report says that Ben Bown's agent will be very busy fielding calls after the USA performance

Italy yet to score after 4 games...
I'm struggling to find it on the IIHF site, but it looks so far on the bits I've seen that GB re really struggling winning faceoffs?

Yes faceoffs have been pretty lopsided for the most part, though they did do much better in the USA game. I'd flag 2nd periods as well being a factor against due to the long changes that brings, we've went long periods with the puck in our zone, so players are getting a lot of long shifts in the 2nd period they otherwide wouldn't have to endure in the 1st/3rd and it (IMO) drops their performance levels for those 3rd periods.

Top 3 saves from 15th May. Bowns' save on Jack Hughes is #1.

France looked pretty tidy earlier on. Highly skilled. GB cant afford any lapses in concentration or they'll get punished

Joey Lewis gets his debut, Kirk back in and Myers sitting this one out.
Gotta think that's a good move regarding Myers, won't help our chances this game but being such a workhorse the extra day off should help ahead of the France game.

Now how's about that for a first period against one of the best teams in the world?

3 penalties in this game(at the time of writing) and each one we were under no real pressure. Pure stupidity against a team like this.
Did well to kill 2 of them though.
