2 shots on goal.. you wont get much luck on the scoreboard with that amount . Absolutely no offence . At least try and retain possession instead of iceing or just dumping it into the corners

Defensively probably our best performance yet. Finland cycle the puck so well and we were great at keeping them to the outside.
Had a few looks at goal but offensively was a bit more of a struggle, just didn't have the speed to cause Finland any issues consistently but a few teams better than us have had the same issue including Canada.
Kirk looked much better. Thought Ollie had a good game.
Not sure about pulling Bowns at 3-0 but ultimately it won't really count for much.
Some silly penalties but I'd like to think in the France game we'll be smarter than that.
Very happy with that performance again, Finland have a shot at winning the whole tournament and we made them work for that. Pride very much in tact!
Also, Kakko who?

Thought the last ten minutes, although we conceded a couple, we looked quite good offensively. Good effort, no shame in this one.

Not that you'd ever notice such a positive, though. We didn’t have him covered “all night” there were a times he had all 5 of our players chasing him as he circled through our zone. We did a decent job as a team to keep the Finns as a team down to a very respectable score line.

We didn’t have him covered “all night” there were a times he had all 5 of our players chasing him as he circled through our zone. We did a decent job as a team to keep the Finns as a team down to a very respectable score line. He cycled the offensive zone on his backhand side looking for his route to goal a couple of times and we largely kept him to the outside. We weren't chasing him at all, just letting him go on his merry go round. If all 5 players were chasing him then it's pretty poor on his part that he couldn't pick a pass to 4 open team mates, but that's because it didn't happen... The chances he had were low percentage chances. Team GB had a plan to keep the score down and it was largely successful. As good as Bowns was he didn't have to make that many show stopping saves last night compared to previous games which is a credit to our defence. What was impressive about Bowns was the concentration required to make the sheer volume of regulation saves. With the puck in our own zone for 80% of the game the focus required won't have gone unnoticed by scouts.

Joey Lewis gets his debut, Kirk back in and Myers sitting this one out. Gotta think that's a good move regarding Myers, won't help our chances this game but being such a workhorse the extra day off should help ahead of the France game. I've heard (not confirmed) that he's injured. No details. In case you didn't know by now Shaggy there was a tweet suggesting that Myers does have an injury. The severity of it wasn't indicated though. He was commentating with BBC last night so perhaps anybody who listened could shed some light on it.

Do we rest Bowns for the Slovakia game and give Whistle the start.
This game in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter. It's the France game that's important.
Yes I know that France have great skaters and have players in The NHL and NLA

May be a load of nonsense but if that was going to happen then it'd be this game. I don't agree with it should it happen, just passing on what I was told. I think Bowns will want to keep playing, though on the world stage and will want to keep showing what he can do.

TBH, Bowns has done way more than enough, he doesn't need to face another high volume of shots also what's really the point of he's going to be pulled early anyway

Yes I know that France have great skaters and have players in The NHL and NLA If Bowns is up to it, then most definitely he should start against Slovakia. He's earned it, regardless of the opposition the entire GB organisation want to put their best option out there, and although the usual suspects on here wouldn't give a toss about it, it would diminish GB's respect level (which is actually quite high) amongst all of those here - from whatever country - if we started with our backup. Plus, quite frankly, I don't rate Whistle much at all. Remember that GB have a rest day tomorrow, whilst France have the evening game against Finland - and thus are likely to have been skating quite hard. That should give Bowns enough recharge time... and anyway, he appears to mentally be fully 'in the zone'. Not something we want to risk losing. Granted, I'm no coach... Pete Russell & Co may well see things differently. But that's the way I see it.

Yes, since posting that I've heard that he has a foot injury (I don't go on Twitter much). Just hoping that he'll be OK for Monday.

This game in the grand scheme of things doesn't matter. It's the France game that's important. We shouldn't go into any game already beaten, and we shouldn't assume France will be beaten tomorrow either. Play our best side, we certainly shouldn't be seeing the third choice at any time, barring a lot of misfortune. Hugely unlikely that it won't come down to Monday's game, but not impossible.

Like a Deer in headlights right now. 3 early goals, first one was unfortunate but we've not reacted well. Silly penalty from Shields, standard from GB at any world championships.
Damaged limitation job here now but then most of these games are.
Biggest positive is that we appear to have lost communication with Aaron Murphy.

Another hammering on the cards and we haven't learned anything from last week.
Well at least we get a rest before France but it won't be easy against them

I hope Whistle never leaves Sheffield. Give that man a 5 year contract.
We're having our moments but that's just setting up Slovakia on the break and they are executing well.
Sounds like a great atmosphere. Slovakia fans have bought right in to this tournament. There's been a few errors from the organisers prior to the tournament but since it's been underway they have been great hosts. Very unlucky against Canada and Germany.

I doubt shaggy will be rushing on here heralding the team. GB are pretty awful being found out once again by a much quicker team

I doubt shaggy will be rushing on here heralding the team. GB are pretty awful being found out once again by a much quicker team And I doubt that you will ever post anything about GB that isn't unremittingly negative and downright miserable. All you do is niggle and moan. Come to think of it, that covers more than just GB where you're concerned. Just give it a rest for once...

Most is legit you just dont like hearing the truth. I said GB would tire as the tourney got old. They tried to give Bowns another game and now hes risked getting injured for the game on Monday even though they will be harder than what most think . Shaggy the GB team isn't very good for all the trying they do. Accept it and stop taking it personal
