We knew well in advance that the whole thing - including the game vs France - would be an uphill battle. Granted, none of us expected that abysmal showing vs Denmark, but that's what happens sometimes. Just don't give up before a game has even started... One minor advantage for the France game... they play the day before, GB don't. You may have known of the uphill struggle against France Shaggy but many many people seem to believe it was a realistic game to win. This is maybe because the EIHL and french league are comparable but as national programs and top players they aren’t. There’s been a lot of naivety from fans leading into this tournament in my opinion. Exactly my point since well before the tournament started. Just because certain leagues are comparable doesn't mean the national players are as well... I mean look at the standard of the Danish league

I mean look at the standard of the Danish league Look at the Danish roster. 2 NHL players 4 KHL 4 SHL 3 DEL I never thought for a minute that GB would get a result against Denmark. They were clinical. France is the "best" shot, but it's still a pretty long shot. 16 of their roster (including all the D bar one) play in the French league, which we know is similar standard to EIHL. However, 4 play in NLA and 2 in Liiga, which are a good step or two quicker. GB will have to play at the top of their game to get a result, I think.

I think we'll be in for another lesson today, USA at least have a few players I know of
Noah Hanifin Johnny Gaudreau Derek Ryan
Those are Flames players
Others I know are
Cory Schneider Ryan Suter Jack Eichel Patrick Kane Chris Kreider Dylan Larkin James Van Riemsdyk
If we keep that lineup to below 6 goals we'll be doing well but I reckon that lineup should get at least 10 against us

France should have at least 2 lines of good quality forwards, with Texier, Bozon, Fluery to name a few. Their defence doesn't appear to be amazing though, all Ligue Magnus players except for one. However, the French are much better skaters than we are and with their quality top lines.. I think we'll lose maybe 6-1. I don't think it'll be a demolition but I just can't see us getting much out of it.

Their defence doesn't appear to be amazing though, all Ligue Magnus players except for one. This is the crux of it for me. Can GB exploit what is potentially a weaker D whilst nullifying the undoubtedly quality top 6 forwards?

Well what a complete difference to yesterday. End of the 1st 1-1 and giving the USA a run for their money.. for now anyway. It will be a case of survival of the fittest. Standing ovation from the Slovakians and others in the arena. I'm just pleased they have scored.

I meant the Americans
I know they aren't as under strength as Canada seems to be which makes the score unbelievable

A team if it were in the NHL, would be over the salary cap. Heroic performance, pride very much restored. Competed nearly the whole game, looked dangerous every time going forward & even made the Americans look ordinary at times. Goal each period, killed off some penalties, 60 shot save performance from Bowns, and what a snipe by Ben Davies! Bucket loads to be positive about, everyone really put in a shift.

Incredible performance.
On another day too a couple of our chances in the first period go in and Bownsy may want a couple back(he was outstanding so don't read that as a criticism), it could have been closer.
USA really had to work for that and just saying that is unbelievable.
All 24 hours after the shambles of yesterday too. Hockey makes no sense sometimes.
I still think it's highly unlikely we'll pick up any points but if we perform like that in our remaining games we could run somebody very close.
Bowns, Davies and Hammond were brilliant too.
I'm glad we sat Kirk out for this one, he's not looked up to it so far and I'm happy that this kind of performance will go some way to justifying Russell's decision because I'm sure some Orange fans may have been sharpening their knives had we been blown out of the water.

Now THAT was one hell of a game!
GB competed and fought like mad for the full 60 minutes, and I think it took USA somewhat by surprise. Total team effort... obviously outclassed but not giving a damn.
And GB put one more goal past USA than Finland managed... not bad!
Thankful it's a rest day tomorrow... I'm knackered, sweated up and have hardly any voice left. But it was worth it... the GB team have made one hell of an impression so far, and so have the GB Barmy Army.

I think Bowns did himself a LOT of good today if he is looking to move on (which I doubt)

Bowns will NEVER be considered a great player if he remains in this league. Does he prefer to be a big fish or does he have ambition?

All I hear from people is we will just enjoy being there. Well when the States shall bowns by 7 halfway through the game that wont be much fun especially for the players. Head will soon drop. Trust me when Larkin skates mosey will be running through cement in comparison. It really wont be pretty viewing. You really need to have a little more faith, Pidge...

Potentially had a career with Edmonton and jacked it all in as he wanted to give his kids Scottish education!
