Think tonight’s result may just be the wake up call Panthers need, they are a very good team experiencing a few hiccups, all teams will have them, but it’s a bonus to have them at the beginning of the season as opposed to having them at the tail end. Panthers have a very good coach, and a very good team with some excellent players, this team can have you on the end of your seat, and yet can also have you pulling your hair out. It’s still so early in the season, regardless of tonight my view is that it will be Devils /Panthers at the end, with my hugely biasism plumbing for my Devils. Long way to go guys, and some great nights still to be had, by us all. Happy Hockey Days

Interestingly Rich(on the website radio) states that there were individual errors which need to be sorted out with either extra time on the ice or in the gym. Some Sunday performances weren't good enough. The last point I find a bit disturbing, as one had though that the fitness issue had been addressed.

The reason they won the league that year was down to the fact their title challengers were pretty poor. Panthers won't have that advantage this year . I don't think we 'll have enough to win the title (unless Cardiff have a serious injury crisis, something they haven't had over the last 2 years ) We will remain competitive well past new year that I am convinced with. I agree,we’re a decent enough team and we’ll be top 2 or 3. We just need that extra nous and star quality that a player like Heddon or Dwyer would bring. I mean you look at the Devils and you see Heddon,Martin,Linglet,Pope,Fournier,Dixon all class players, then look at their secondary stuff like Haddad,Bentivoglio and Ulmer etc. They’ve got skill, nous and experience in spades....but i don’t see quite enough of that on Panthers roster at present. In fairness we also have, and when you watch these guys every week you appreciate what they bring Like Blood, Morissette, Faryna, Louis, Reddick, plus diamonds like Myers, Richardson, Moore, Rutkis, Batch it really touches a nerve for me. Anyway let’s all enjoy our season, you just have to love this sport, the best sport on the planet.

The difference to me is in the quality of the five or six top end players, the ones who when it comes down to it unlock the door and make the difference.

We certainly to me at least, have the advantage there, myself I would only take Pither, and would struggle to say who he would replace. Sorry if I sound Twatish.

If i was a Devils fan I’d swop Pither and Guptill for Ulmer and Bentivoglio and that would be the end of it.

Hope so, I have some very good friends in Nottingham, some going back a very long time, loved your old rink, the John Smith Nottingham Panthers, our rivalry goes back forever. So many good memories, and a lot of frustrating ones when we got beat. Love the PO weekend at yours, it couldn’t be at a better gaff. So look forward to our battles, and may the best team win. Happy Hockey Days

Lets not forget that Cardiffs fixtures for the start of the season have been very favourable. They are definitely the benchmark but not untouchable. They haven't played Belfast or Fife yet who are the two other strongest teams so far and have been pushed very close by Dundee and MK tonight. The toughest fixture they have had was away to Panthers. Which they lost Spot on. On current form Flyers look to be the hot team and now Giants are converting their puck possession into points too. We’ve looked awesome at times but mediocre too. Still too early to throw in the towel.

Dissapointing - Yes, Catastrophic -No. With the exception of Glasgow and Milton Keynes, which hopefully not sounding arrogant, I would have liked wins from - I’m not losing sleep to losing at Cardiff and Belfast - any points taken away from their ice are a bonus!
If we get 3-4 points from 6 on the Scottish road trip this weekend I will be very pleased with that and consider the season on track.

Mid-table mediocrity, I assume. Sorry, you’re claiming this Panthers team will be mid-table?

We need more than 3 points out of a Scottish triple header. Nothing less than 4 or 5 required to be up there and challenging at seasons end.

The way we're playing at the moment we'd be lucky to come away with 2 points this weekend, I'm looking forward to the trip and more than 2 points will be a bonus. Keeping everything crossed.

Jeez the cynicism - I said I’d be pleased with 3-4 points this weeken - what’s wrong with that?
Can I suggest 2 points v Stars, 1 point ( perhaps 2 ) against The Clan, and 0 points against Flyers. So if we nip a couple against the Clan and point at Flyers to make 5 I will be very, very happy!

Mid-table mediocrity, I assume. Sorry, you’re claiming this Panthers team will be mid-table? Apologies for the delay in replying, but yes on current form we could be below Fife, Belfast, Cardiff and Coventry if they win their Games in hand. I would class 5th place as Mid-table mediocrity to be honest
