Makes sense. Good move, hopefully get Rheault back asap Initially quoted as short term and then announced as a muscle tear? Do they not take a while to heal? Or maybe I was thinking of a different injured player elsewhere.

That’s not short term,in this league it’s 8 or 10 games missing your No1 guy. That’s probably gonna hurt you badly unless you do something about it quick.

Welcome to the Panthers Tyler, give it your all and show us what you’ve got. If he impresses I’d keep him on as injury cover.

Good luck to him. Like Cherno says in the article, makes sense with him local and available, although does have a bit of the Joonas Saari about it. See how he goes.

That's what I dont get. The article just says he was training with the team. Did he ask to train with the team before going back to NA. Therefore was on the doorstep. Did he ask for a trial? Has he moved back to the UK and that's why he's local. The article doesn't really explain that bit.

He certainly wasn't born in the UK (at least according to elite prospects - which may be wrong) Good luck & Welcome to Nottingham Tyler. How good he is only time will reveal. One thing's for sure he can't be any worse than Sean Farley, Ian Morgan or Tyler Larter.....

Looking forward to seeing how he gets on. Prevented us from being 2 imports down for a huge game.

So thoughts on this guy?
I thought he looked pretty decent, skates well, decent speed, gets stuck in.
Pretty good first impressions

Don't think he'll be setting the points charts on fire by any means, but I think he'll be a good energy player on the 4th line allowing our key guys time to rest that little bit longer.

I liked the look of him. Fitted in very well considering it was his first game with the team and put a lot of hits in.Hopefully he can only get better too.

That's fine as a spare import to fit in when and if players need a rest or short term injury cover but this is to replace our first line goal scorer.. imho we need someone in that can fill that role if we are unlikely to see Rheault for the majority of this season (this seasons sick note perhaps)... If this kid fits in well then sure sign him as a spare but don't put all that pressure on him that he has to fill Rheault's shoes as clearly he wont be able to do that...

Who said VanKleef was to replace Rheault?
He's obviously not, he was a quick and easy extra pair of legs.

Also since when has Rheault been our top forward and a first liner?
Its pretty clear who is the first line and who is getting the majority of PP time.

Look at all the players CV’s and Rheault is streets ahead of any other forward. Whether he produces what his CV says he should is a different matter, but he was clearly signed to be that top line guy.

Latest press release about Vankleef staying in the lineup this weekend includes the phrase "whilst the coaches consider their options, it makes sense for him to play"
By the sounds of it, they're looking for, or at least considering, a replacement which is a step forward from doing nothing.

It is a step forward but “considering it” is just not an option. There is absolutely nothing to consider. With Rheault missing for 12-14 weeks we need another quality forward in and quickly.

Respectfully disagree. Rheault is a player who had inferior stats last year in the EBEL to Bussieres the year before. "You're only as good as your last season" is one of my maxims. Rheault was indeed a very good player three, even 2 years ago, and before, but last year he was outscored by many a player with a "lesser" CV. By no means am I saying he's not a good player, I just don't see the "he was clearly signed to be that top line guy" take. Forget pre-season, that's like kissing your sister; Guptill, Hurtubise and Kovacs have been superb so far, fulfilling their undoubted promise. Rheault was largely absent (1 assist) in the 4 games he did play. Maybe he was carrying a knock, but Guptill especially looks like a gem of a player, especially for a fourth liner. To be fair, if he is, as the EIHL webiste says, 301 pounds, no wonder he's not been scoring much.
