Didn't the players choose their captain in some way. They know each other as well as a coach.

I'd be surprised if it doesn't end up being Steve Lee again.

Nobody’s seen in the changing room or the gym during pre season, there could be a stand out guy in there who gets the C.

Well what I see on the ice I hope it ain't Lee at all!! He shows no leadership qualities whatsoever! Captains lead by example but he's a skating calamity at times and makes some awful plays at times.
My pick is Lepine

In that team there’s no way the captain should be Steve Lee. Lepine would be my choice.

Based on the first 3 games Lepine has not been up to speed at all. In comparison to the rest of the team.
Iginla/pidge I have to disagree with you, I don’t believe he should be captain, he really needs to just focus on his game and nothing else as so far that’s been his only responsibility and to be honest he hasn’t managed that so far.

Thank you... at least I'm not the only one who has been massively underwhelmed by Lepine so far. I'm not worried (yet) - sometimes players take time to settle (back) in - but it would IMO count against him in the leadership stakes. As has been said... the vast majority of the captain's work will take place out of our sight. In the dressing room, in training - out on the ice during games will be the least of it. We're fooling ourselves if we think we have any clue who would be the best fit.

You seen a game yet? I couldn’t realistically decide and I’ve seen the 3 home games so far.

...only 1 got form as a leader is Stevie Lee... He may have worn the 'C' but I wouldn't say he has form as a leader. In my eyes he has merely been a placeholder for a more competent Captain.

From what I’ve seen so far I’m not very fond of Lepine and Lee being a pairing either, I’m hoping that Rich trials some different pairings, maybe it could bring the best out of Gui.

So what has Steve Lee done or not done to make him so allegedly unsuitable for the role? Wearing the C is a leadership function, and very hard to evaluate. I have no idea if he's a good captain or bad, nor who in the team would be a better fit. What's your reasoning?

Compare him to Jono Phillips the impression I get on the ice is world's apart. Hopefully Rich will make the decision and not leave it upto the players like the last coach 🙄

Perlini, Lepine & Lee were assigned as alternate captains the first weekend. The second weekend, Lepine, Lee and Henderson were listed as Alternates.
I have no qualms over Lee retaining the Captaincy, but wouldn't be fussed if he lost it to someone else, whenever players have spoken about Lee, they speak highly of him.
At the end of the day, the team are not short of leaders, whether a player has an A or a C on the jersey, they can still be a leader or influence in the dressing room. I'll throw a curve ball in and say we will not assign a captain and run with just alternates.

Based on experience and what I've seen so far, Henderson or Olsen would be my picks. I have not been a fan of Lee as captain nor was I of Clarke before him. There never seemed to be any passion shown on the ice and time again you sensed that they were only attending the refs because they had to. We need someone who yes is a leader off and on the ice, that is not always easy for us to see. But we also need someone who is in the refs ear questioning calls etc.

The reason i picked Lépine is because of the huge effect i know he has on a Panthers dressing room, the same as he did before. The other players loved him previously and he also has the capability of setting an example on the ice with a big hit or a fight.

I have confidence he will come good in the EIHL but so far he isn’t there.

Only seen one game, Sunday's 2-1 win. Thought Lepine (and all the D) did pretty well against some extremely quick, skillful and relentless forwards.
Regarding the captain, I'd be thinking possibly Henderson. Plays the game in the right way, very experienced and could lead from the front with some hits when needed. He didn't hit a lot but the people he hit stayed hit.
