As presenters women often work very well. Gabby Logan does a good job,Sue Barker isn’t bad and Hazel Irvine is very good, not over keen on Claire Balding though. As commentators though I just don’t think it works. I'm sure Gabby (Yorath) Logan presented ice hockey back in the day. It must have been for BBC or Sky, but she seems to have scrubbed it from her bio Then again, she was a presenter, not a commentator. Am I remembering incorrectly? She did indeed, prior to the new arena being built. They built her a scaffolding "office" at the top of block 3, IIRC. Those were the days.

Be ace if they could get Anna Woolhouse back involved, but since she's working for Sky it's probably a no go.

Although I know the league's thinking behind it, I was initially disappointed personally that the Televised games are to be (mainly) on a Wednesday as I normally have committments that day, However now I'm not so disappointed as it means I can fast forward certain parts of the program or even make a drink - and I don't necessarily mean at the period breaks. Hopefully they will put a good programme together on a consistent basis that promotes the league in a good way. Though if the production company is 24/7 as it has been in recent years I will brace myself for the inevitable loss of picture for minutes on end & distorted sound levels.

Thought the preview show was well put together last night, although Paul Adey looked lost in the couch. Bet they were bloody freezing too being centre ice.
Gives me high hopes for the coming season's coverage.

Gives me high hopes for the coming season's coverage. I thought the same (well put together) after watching the preview show. I was a little bit disappointed that I read a lot of negative reviews on various Facebook groups, most expressing it was boring. Personally from just one episode I think it’s the best British hockey show we’ve had; good graphics and interviews with a variety of people. I understand though it was literally a chat show and mostly about players the teams’ have recruited, which I imagine the majority of viewers already know about. Once the season gets going I’m sure with highlights the show will satisfy more viewers. It could be very engaging if they include goal, save, hit etc. of the month and possibly opened it up to viewer votes. It would also be fun to see a crossbar challenge type competition between players/teams. I imagine they will record their highlight shows at teams’ rinks like they have at Cardiff so it shouldn’t be too much trouble to get the players involved.

Yes, it was certainly the best presentation, we've seen for an Elite League programme on TV. In a way, it was a shame they didn't show the full highlights of The Panthers VS Steelers game, they obviously had them. I think if they added a fan interaction section like a Q&A segment, I think that would be great. Like in a previous post, I just hope that the live games have a build up instead of going live 5 minutes before Face Off.

Good programme & starting point for the season ahead, though not perfect by any means. I did think Adey was going to vanish into the sofa at one point & Kelman has not aged well. Must be the stress of only having the 4th biggest budget...😂 Interesting to see the programme was made by Televideo (didn't they produce the live Sky ISL shows back in the day?) Hopefully theleague have kicked 24/7 production company into touch for the live games too. Still I'm glad I won't be able to see most games live as I will be able to fast forward the tedious bits....

Televideo did used to the live games for Sky I believe, they're based in Sheffield so pretty well situated for most arenas.

I like the coverage, but i seriously question the choice of games.
Mk have been awful in this first period and the game is already over. They should make sure they shows games with comparable teams.

You had a choice of: Panthers vs Blaze - Rivalry Stars vs Flyers - Rivalry Storm vs Clan - Lots of links between them There were all tight games and while our match wasn't for the purists, was surely better than a 9-1 decimation.

And surprise surprise Cardiff scored 9 in less than two periods and then didn’t score any in the third. Guess that wasn’t a fixed farce then eh ? Must have been absolutely riveting tv ! 🙄

I agree it was a bad game to be televised in the end but the fixture was chosen before the season started. My guess is that it was their intention to show this game due to it being the first live game and the raising of the champions banner, the opponents where irrelevant. It was just unfortunate MK where so depleted with injuries and missing players. I think a full roster MK would be more competitive than what we saw tonight.
A good production from freesports, glad they put in the extra bits compared to the CHL coverage, just a shame it was such a lopsided game.

If any casual newbie watched 10 goals in a game they would probably think it was amazing. To most hockey fans eyes it would boring but that's not the type of viewer they should be looking for.

Not sure if this has been covered elsewhere but the next live game is Cardiff at home on the 26th according to a tweet from Aaron Murphy.
