Whilst your opinion is quite frankly outdated and pretty much on par with Simms, it is your opinion and I respect that it is your right. But nobody suggested anything about female commentators. You just randomly decided to disrespect half the population because what? The 1 or 2 you've heard don't tickle your fancy? Why didn't you name them like you have with Seth, Aaron etc rather than "At least we haven’t got any women"? Sexism alive and kicking on the Cage in 2018 I see... I haven’t disrespected half the population, just given my opinion on female commentators. If you commented on here that a male wasn’t very good at something I wouldn’t accuse you of disrespecting the other half of the population. Since you ask i will name a few....Jacquie Oatley,Vicki Sparks,Mel Jones,Alison Mitchell,Ebony Rainford Brent and that’s just some in football and cricket. Have you ever listened to Wimbledon when Tracey Austin is on,oh boy she’s awful. Oh and that blonde NHL presenter woman who shouts at you,the clone of the previous one who also shouted at you !😫 I think what it is Females don't seen to get as excited or as passionate In their voices as the men do and no that isn't sexist but a matter of opinion

If you don't like Murphy's little anecdotes turn off the sound, personally I quite like his "stick handling in a phone booth". Mmmm but what the heck is a “cannonating blast” ? Think I’d even rather have that old boy who used to do Belfast’s webcasts, the one who got every other players name wrong. On second thoughts...err NO ! What about Jono he’s pretty decent.

One female host who used to work hockey on Sky in the ISL days, Jane Hoffen. She was very good as a presenter . As presenters women often work very well. Gabby Logan does a good job,Sue Barker isn’t bad and Hazel Irvine is very good, not over keen on Claire Balding though. As commentators though I just don’t think it works.

Understand the point Iginla was trying to make even if it should have been worded better. I think female voices generally although not universally don't suit commentary. Maybe its because all we've ever known really in any sport are men commentating and we're all just used to it. As has been pointed out there a lot of female presenters that are brilliant at there jobs and some have already been mentioned. Some others include Suzi Perry. Eni Aluko and Alex Scott were very good during the world cup and put the likes of Patrice Evra to shame. And more regarding hockey i thought Anna Woolhouse was good when she did it with Simms on Sky a few years ago

Hense why Anna now fronts Sky's boxing coverage so sky must rate her .
Back to hockey there's a reason why people like Bennett and (colin) fray get chosen to commentate on Olympic hockey as they are very good ...
Has Aaron Murphy ever worked for a mainstream network for a major tournament apart from watch it on tv lol

Thank you very much but I think my niche is junior/Women’s hockey commentary for the moment but I would love to commentate on EIHL/Senior level in the future. I’m going to stick up for Murph a bit here. I’ve worked with him several times and puts in an immense amount of work to ensure he has all the information for the matches he is calling. Also he’s been good enough to give me plenty of advice which has been invaluable for my own commentaries.

It’s just the cliche’s that it seems a lot of people find very cringey and annoying. I’m sure he knows already but remind him please Jono. Murph and no cliche’s with Jono as colour commentator. That would be good. 👍

Although this is probably going against the tide i think female sports commentators are good for sport coverage for a few reasons, Many of the male commentators in cricket for example are so similar in style and delivery with the exception of Aggers and Boycott, and the recent inclusion of a female commentator at least gives you a variation in style, i would also say the same with Football commentries they also dont need to be so shouty and go up several levels to dowmright ear shattering at times when a team scores.
In the end though if a commentator knows their sport, does their homework well and delivers well i dont care what gender they are.

Anna Woolhouse would have been perfect, knows the League having done the Sky stuff with Simmsey and her brother played in the League for both Nottingham & Sheffield.

Worth pointing out that a good deal of income for sports teams comes from sponsors and it would surely encourage more sponsors and motivate existing sponsors if their team was on the TV a lot
So clubs need to think about that as well as ticket income when figuring out whether they want to be on TV or not
Devil's commercial staff should be capitalising on this

I'm sure Gabby (Yorath) Logan presented ice hockey back in the day. It must have been for BBC or Sky, but she seems to have scrubbed it from her bio Then again, she was a presenter, not a commentator. Am I remembering incorrectly?

Must have been other alterations then because their assumption on an original Coventry date in November confuses me.
