Assuming Doty is taking over the enforcer role from Gagnon, we can sign a steady dman in his place. Theres no doubt this is a diwngrade in fightinh terms. Gagnon was the toughest guy in the league last year for me. However although its nice for fans to say we have the biggest dog in the fight its not needed to win games. The upside to this is that it gives us a guy to put Farmer next to. I always think we've got the best out of Farmer when he plays with a tough guy. And Doty should slow down his points production. Im really hoping we get Brown back now. Farmer-Brown-Doty, now thats a line i could get excited about. Very imtimidating line and they are all good for 0.6 - 0.7 ppg. Thats a good return from a third line. In terms of forward lines I’d say we’re probably looking something like: ............ - ......... - .......... ............ - ......... - Kovacs Farmer - Perlini - Doty Lacho - .......... - Betteridge We still need a centre for the the fourth line and that could be Brown. Kovacs can play either wing and I think this will be determined by whether we sign Mosey or not. More like: ........ - ......... - Perlini ............ - ......... - Kovacs Farmer - ......... - Doty Lacho - .......... - Betteridge Id say.

Two punches from Gagz and it was game over. As has been said, if he’s replacing Bussieres then this is a good signing, if he’s going to be our enforcer, to replace Gagz, then it’s a bit underwhelming. Let’s see how it goes. cant really say he is a bad signing because he lost one fight. You can’t win them all. I’m happy with this. If it’s a bussieres replacement then its a major upgrade in my opinion. I agree, he’ll be a good player, first impressions can be misleading as well. I’m sure he’ll give his all for us and I’m sure we’ll get behind him!

He's 24, 6'3" and like 200lbs. Scored a great amount of goals on a poor Braehead team and spent a lot of time in the box too. If Rich can manage him well enough, you get toughness, a great power forward and someone who won't be in the box too much. I don't think he'll be as productive as Salters was but I think Doty will be the better of the power forwards we've had in recent years.
We'll see though. This team has some great size to it already. Looking forward to seeing how the rest of recruitment goes.

Trust the coach and wait till the squad is complete. Coach wants a big power forward who can score and drop gloves. This guy is perfect for that. Proven in this league, will leave cash to spend on the top line and let them focus on scoring. Also love the fact we are poaching players for within the league. I might turn up for this season if it keeps going like this. Also with the rate of player announcements and the quality of them this coach doesn't seem to have any problems recruiting unlike the previous one!

Okay will be careful with what I say, as a foreigner it counts for nothing, your signings so far have been very impressive but Doty don’t do it for me, But then it don’t have to, in fairness he is still a young lad and hopefully can only get better. Your new Coach will live or die by his decisions and he is better qualified than me To make this signing. I would be a bit gutted if we had signed him at Cardiff, but maybe the lad will prove my amateurish views to be crap.

I think Perlini should be on the 2nd line. I think as someone said above Farmer/Brown/Doty would be a good powerful checking line capable of putting up good points too. Could have Perlini and Kovacs on either wing. An extra creative player to be signed to go the 4th line to provide competition for the top slots and whoever form dips drops to the 4th line.

I quite like this signing, mainly because it's a very un-Panthers-like signing. Firstly, it's been a while since we signed a proper power forward, and, secondly, we never sign from other EIHL clubs - and I've always thought it's because they're too expensive if they're any good.
My concern is that there are probably better out there in the world doing this role - but then at least we know what we're getting here.
Interesting signing and one I wasn't expecting at all.

Not really excited by this signing but he may come good. Under better coaching with a better team around him he might do well. I think he might be in the Faryna mould

Good player that I would have had back at the Clan this year without a 2nd thought. Struggled at the start last season due to being put on the 2nd line with our injuries, & starting short. Then was on our 4th line with 17 year old Buesa which also hindered him from playing his normal role, and then as our slowest skater was naturally given the breakaway forwards role in the wisdom of our now former coach. Considering all that, plus it being a bad all round team, he did a hellva job scoring as much as he did.
I think he'll do perfectly fine on your 3rd line, and may well pleasantly surprise you, especially with having a better supporting cast this time around.

If they retain Faryna or Louis then they shouldn't need a guy like Gagnon. One thing that let Gagnon down was his speed and mobility, was like a bus sometimes. If he got lighter on his feet I'd feel losing him would be a bigger loss but at the moment I'm not entirely bothered.

I can’t see how anyone can think this is a bad signing?! He outscored Lindhagen and Bussieres last season on a poor Clan team.
I remember people questioning Cardiff’s decision to sign Farayna - and he turned into a cult hero there so absolutely no reason Doty can’t be the same here.

Doty will do a 3rd line job....I just want to see that top line !

If you just look at this guy and his stats from last season in isolation, I can see why some people are thinking that this is a bit of a 'meh' signing. But this is a team game, and I get the feeling that Doty could be a useful cog in the machine. Maybe not a star player (although who knows what could happen?) but you can't expect the whole roster to be stars, can you? Can skate? - check Can score? - check (16 goals on lines which probably didn't help him, on a team which was pretty poor...) Can hit? - check (no pun intended ) Can fight? - check (yes, he lost to Gagnon... so?) We can't rule out Gagnon coming back (and I'm in two minds as to whether that would be a good thing or not) but this signing reduces the chances IMO... it adds another player who has physicality (be it punching or checking) on his CV to the list. If this is a straight swap for Bussieres (total conjecture) then it's a major upgrade. If not... you've got to think he's going to be moderately useful at the very least.

Remember John Craighead? His stats before he came here were pitiful, hardly scored at all. His first year here, wasn't he the league top goalscorer? Of course, he messed it all up the following season, and at times behaved like a total prat to boot, but it just goes to show... stats are little more than an unreliable indicator.

Both score more than create. Yes Faryna has a better point return when he was at Dundee but i bet he was on the ice more for that team. Doty spent time for Braehead playing on the 4th line with a 17 year old. Things aren't as simple as looking at a stats page

Doty and faranya are both simular players. And looking over on the inferno you d think Gagnon was some kind of stud! He was tough but defensively not as good as some think .
So back to the first point. I'm happy with Doty as a 3rd line winger which is what he ll be !

All I remember about this guy is him getting into fights.
