Clan release Gratton... He d be a good replacement for Biggs! I'd be asking why he's been released. He's a point a game player for the Clan, but on his last visit to Nottingham, his biggest impact was taking a penalty, adding an Abuse of Official on top, and Panthers getting 2 powerplays goals. Otherwise he just seemed disinterested.

I'm not surprised you 're struggling , you've hardly been to many games to see there's quite a lot of players worse than him in this league !!

Why would we need another tough hard nosed type player who’s not really a goal scorer, or overly skilled and also takes penalties ? 🤔 And how many Braehead games have you watched this season......not many I’d guess !

He plays much better than I was expecting but Clan wouldn't release a PPG player if there wasn't some kind of valid reason. Either he's unhappy in the EIHL or he's bad in the locker room, I'd guess at the first one.

And there was me getting slated for saying Olsen is the best offensive d man in the league... silly me. Only been watching over 30 years I'd like to think I know a good d man from a poor one O’Connor might have something to say about Olsen being the best offensive Dman in the league. Currently Olsen 0.5 ppg O’Connor 1.5 ppg At that rate at seasons end. Olsen 30 points O’Connor 90 points

He may hard nosed and tough but he is also adding loads of points. In 5 less games he has 2 more goals than Hurtubise and only 2 behind Pither. If there is other issues with him then maybe he isn't worth it. If he was to bring his A game then he could easily do what Biggs came in to do but never really forfilled. And to add. It's not as if any conference system can be used to mitigate his production either.

On paper, Sauve is a straight swap improvement on Billingsley IMO, both two-way D-men with offensive capabilities and both indiscipled at times. Whether you should make a trade just because you can is a different matter however. Sauve would be a huge upgrade on Billingsley Sauve gone to Villacher in the EBEL.

Olsen the best offensive D-man in the EIHL? Someone's had a bang on the head. Fournier, Craige and Ackered are maybe ahead of him? All of whom have at least a dozen more points than Olsen.
Don't get me wrong, Olsen's growing on me a lot. He's as good as they come to an all round top notch D-man, for me. But the best offensive D-man in the EIHL? Not even close.

I agree with you there are defenders who are more productive. Craige and Ackered are superb offensively, Guildford have great ability on the powerplay, if Ackered gets time and space to let his slap shot go nobody stops it. Fournier is a phenomenal skater, easily the best in the league at transitioning from front to back, a wonderful player to watch, but he does get caught out. I know I might need to take off the gold tinted specs here but I wouldn’t swap Olsen for any defender in the league, because I feel overall he’s got great attributes and is a solid two-way defender. He’s got a terrific shot, which I don’t think we utilise enough, he’s got the power but he also has the precision. His passing is quick, sharp, he can make a stretch pass. His only flaw is his acceleration, once he’s up to speed though he transitions well. I think if we used his shot more on the powerplay his production would increase massively.

What we want is Olsen on one side and either Fournier, Craige or Ackered on the other. Simples 😁

Possibly the problem is with Gap. Since they won the league/playoffs in 2016-17, they lost their top scoring forwards and didn't adequately replace them. Last year was a QF playoff loss, this season their top scoring forwards are both Latvians, which suggests they aren't able to spend a great deal, or the 'better' forwards they have signed aren't scoring.
