Since new paws Rick Strachan has been a cardboard cut out on the bench. Not sure if the two are related?

If he “ cant motivate” then how come Panthers won, twelve trophies, under Neilson; especially considering he “ isnt a good coach.” I don't judge coaches over a short format but over 54 games! Lord is a better coach and he's a rookie in comparison Convenient set of parameters.

Not as convenient as having the play-off finals in our own barn...

That's what I ask for people who learn by their mistakes... hell even Corey found a rare winning formular in 12/13 and still reverted to something else the season after!

Pidge, I’ll ask you for a second time; if Neilson cannot motivate & cannot coach, how do you account for twelve trophies won during his tenure as Panthers’ coach?

Because in this country you’re judged on the league and over the 10 years he’s been our coach we’ve won it once. On the face of winning cups you’d think he can motivate players but listen to Bryan Schmidt talking after the 2015-2016 play off win and he mentions how they all get up for those games but don’t for the league. It’s almost like they’re culturally motivated for one but not the other. If Corey really could coach/motivate then the proof would be in getting North American players to understand success is judged on the league and that everything else is a sideshow.

It’s about time. I’m one of those who didn’t think he was all that as a player, but you can’t deny what he did as a coach. The only problem is that it went on for two years too long and has more than slightly soured his reputation and legacy.

North Americans are brought up on play offs. And short 2 or 4 game series are exactly like that, they're basically a play off series. But over the last four years we haven't even made a fist of the cup or play offs in three of those years. I mean really, how on earth have Panthers not even made POFW in 3 of the last 4 years. And yet in TEN attempts at the league,we've challenged ONCE.....the year we won it,the other NINE years we've been nowhere near it. Contrast that with Lord's record at Cardiff. Without trawling through records,I reckon in the last 3 or 4 years the Devils have either won or been very close to winning almost every trophy there was to win.

So Neilson, according to Schmidt, can motivate players for cup games, but not for a league campaign...? Kinda’ the point I was making when I asked Pidge to justify his Neilson cannot coach or motivate remark, given the trophies won under Neilson. Folks can criticise his league record as our coach, I would & do, but to simply claim he can’t coach/motivate doesn’t stand up to scrutiny as the club wouldn’t have won anything. It’s ridiculous to criticise the guy for his coaching faults if you’re not prepared to acknowledge the successes during his time.

But if Schmidt is correct that they (North Americans) all get up for play offs then they’re motivating themselves. Play off and knock out hockey is what they’re brought up on. Corey doesn’t have to get them up for it. I would say it refutes your argument.

They don’t need motivating as they motivate themselves for those games. That’s what Schmidt was saying. And Corey once even admitted in an interview that he “didn’t think it was his job to motivate players”. That’s very strange thinking.

2 years ago, black gave Neilson a 2 year contract and promised the fans there would be 1 goal- win the league. Evening post says black offered him a new contract earlier in the season. Black out.

So when the various assembled squads win, it’s down to the players & the coach players no part at all, yet when said squads fail, it’s Neilson’s fault. Nope, didn’t say that. For years now North American raised players have come over and said they find the importance of the league and the structure of our post season play offs strange. They understand the concept of play offs and to them it’s the be all and end all. Schmidt never mentioned Corey in his interview. He said we get up for the play offs but not the league. That implied to me at least that the coach, any coach of any team in this league, doesn’t have to motivate North Americans to succeed at play offs. It’s inbuilt, it’s in their DNA. If they go back home and say they won the league, folks would probably say but what about the play offs? So what I’m saying is our imports are self motivated for the type of hockey structure they’re used to but that Corey cannot motivate them for the type they aren’t. If he could we would have more than one league title in ten years at the helm.

That’s ultimately on them, as purportedly professional hockey players, not pee wee or some rec players. We’ll have to move on reference this subject.

If they don't perform,he should bullet them. That is something both Corey and Panthers really have not been very good at. We have signed some real donkeys in the last ten years, yet other than a few short term contracts, how many have got the chop ? If you put this years Panthers team in Sheffield,I'd hazard a guess at least four of them would have been gassed by now.

All the best Corey, there will be a legacy left behind you. Let’s get behind the team, push on and win the playoffs now! Ok..... But just how insulting to the fan base is it that, if in your mind you feel we could win the playoffs.... What does that say about this group of coaches and players ? The ONLY way I'd accept a play-off victory is IF a new coach came in right now and motivated the squad of players to achieve more. If this same set of players suddenly become winners overnight then we have to accept that they've deliberately not been putting any effort in. And that's a massive insult to the supporters that pay to watch each week.... Isn't it ? I'd rather he had one final home game as coach and then was payed off to the end of the season as if we didn't make the play-off ...... Let the players elect their own coach and show us they can play for pride. And whilst we're on the subject what do we do about Strachan ? Trouble is the PO's are just a few games, though we threw the Cup away this season. I wonder about Strachs also.
