I’ve spoken out about Corey when times have been bad, this year is no exception but thinking back on all he’s achieved for the club and how much he’s raised the profile and of course the amount of trophies he’s won and getting that league title monkey off the back of the club after 58 years I wish him nothing but success in his future.
Full backing will go to the new head coach we appoint (DC or other) and I look forward to the next chapter

Thank You Corey for giving me some of the happiest memories of my childhood and adult life. They can’t be replaced.

It was inevitable given the dreadful run of results since the beginning of December and the well publicized focus on the league title, but I am glad that it has been handled in this way with Corey`s contribution to the club recognized. Thanks Corey for some amazing nights and great memories. I hope the players respond this weekend and for the rest of the season - fairy-tale endings don`t often happen in sport but it would be nice to see him lift the playoff trophy. It will be interesting to see whether his departure leads to any re-structuring with a new GM or, perhaps more likely, a Sporting Director responsible for recruitment, leaving GM to deal with the commercial operations.

I'm not always right, but I've never been wrong!!
This is my post from 6th Feb:
"Corey won't be back next season. It is clear he is stale and "spent" at this club, he knows this too. He will walk 100% You read it hear!"
Good luck to Corey, he has been a great player and coach for the Panthers, we just needed change and so did he. Best wishes for the future.

Over the moon that this has been announced, however i have been following this club for many years, so it wouldn't surprise me if he signed for Sheffield then goes on to win it all.

So whats wrong with him going now and get someone who can mould the team to his way in anticipation of a good run at the playoffs and maybe a "decent" league challenge next season...

I don’t think Evan signed a two yr deal but could see him moving to Cardiff next season now, he was telling us in Prague that they had offered him mega bucks to go there but he had given his word to Corey on first refusal.

He has been a good coach and have always liked him but like others have said i think his time as part of the club has reached its natural end.
When you think of what he has delivered in regards to silverware its something we should all be proud of and his shirt is rightly hung in the rafters of the arena.
I think regardless of what the team achieved this year he was going to leave for pastures new.

Most probably that they'd have to pay Corey's contract up until the end of the season AND pay the new guy too. And that wasn't going to happen was it !

Yes pretty sure the timing of this announcement was at least partly influenced by tomorrow being transfer deadline day.
Maybe Corey would make a good new GM for us. Let’s face it, pretty much anyone would be better than what we’ve currently got. And Corey is a hockey person which would make a nice change.
Obviously Corey has won a lot of silverware but we don’t know how many league titles a different coach would’ve won. Give any half decent coach the team which won the grand slam and they couldn’t fail to win something. And I say that as someone who has generally been a fan of Corey.

Lord is a better coach and he's a rookie in comparison

All the best Corey, there will be a legacy left behind you. Let’s get behind the team, push on and win the playoffs now! Ok..... But just how insulting to the fan base is it that, if in your mind you feel we could win the playoffs.... What does that say about this group of coaches and players ? The ONLY way I'd accept a play-off victory is IF a new coach came in right now and motivated the squad of players to achieve more. If this same set of players suddenly become winners overnight then we have to accept that they've deliberately not been putting any effort in. And that's a massive insult to the supporters that pay to watch each week.... Isn't it ? I'd rather he had one final home game as coach and then was payed off to the end of the season as if we didn't make the play-off ...... Let the players elect their own coach and show us they can play for pride. And whilst we're on the subject what do we do about Strachan ?

I’m struggling to understand the timing of the announcement. Why now,it doesn’t make any real sense ? There's a lot of negativity, not just on here, but if you look at the responses they get on Twitter etc. They've nipped all that in the bud today. The rest of the season will now play out quite amicably I should think. May also act as a spur to some of the longer serving players, one for the road sort of thing. Plus it's deadline day tomorrow and we'll not notice when there's no replacement for Brisebois

So are you saying that the negativity on here had some effect on both the decision and the timing ?
Are we expected to believe then that if this forum had been amicable nothing would have happened... And as such the catalyst for things happening was supporter unrest and the threat of protests, chants and reduced ticket and season ticket sales ?
Are we to believe the supporters even as fragmented as we are have some influence or power?

I should think the club are aware of it, yes.
It was probably your threat to stand up at awkward times wot won it though.

I think this announcement might spur Neilson on to motivate the team and get them revved up to go on and win it. I’m extremely dissapointed how this season has turned out, as are you and many other fans, we were all witnessing victories against teams deemed much better than ours, Krefeld, Mountfield, Bern, Turku. They showed they had the ability and the motivation was there, we were all as proud as punch. Over the last 3 months I don’t think that the players have been deliberately lacking in effort but instead they look frustrated, probably disillusioned at the tactics and systems and have probably not been as motivated as they should have been. I have no doubt the players have the talent, if Neilson motivates them then I do think we will give it a go. But as you say it will probably makes fans resent Neilson more as it could have been such a successful season I believe. With regards to Strachan I suspect that if the club appoints Clarke as coach (which I feel would be a mistake) then Strachan will stay as assistant. The club would be best off appointing Clarke as assistant and bringing in a new coach to work with him, Clarke would learn a lot more this way as well probably.
