Pathetic.

Truely shocking, how different would the outcome had been had his jersey been yellow P.s. Where has it been confirmed?

Indeed what happened to "Let the punishment fit the crime"? You get an automatic 2 match for chucking a Helmet on the ice, (i know it is a rule they bought in blah blah blah) but they then give out nothing for f-ing and blinding and being aggresive towards an official, no consistancy at all!

Well Shmyr didnt even "throw" his helmet with any conviction, he simply "tossed" it onto the ice. With no one within 10 feet of it. Hardly going to injure anyone.
Where as Ndur swung his stick at the face of a ref and was ten times more aggressive to officials that Shmyr was...........
And Payette got SWEET FA!!
Go figure...........

<Shakes head> Id be surprised if it was anything other than the 1 game but still think its crazy and makes the official look stupid IMO as the elite league are sending a message its ok to abuse the official (Considering the lino who got punched and cut earlier in the season) and it shows they wont give bans unless people appeal (No one will appeal on the refs behalf!)

Not surprised in the slightest.... disgusted, but not surprised - for three reasons:-
Firstly because the EIHL so-called 'disciplinary process' is a complete farce, just as the ISL's was... and for the same reasons (the people involved in it). No common sense, no consistency, no apparent logic at all.
Secondly because - if you talk to people involved in the sport - the same picture keeps appearing time and time again. The EIHL is 'heavily influenced' (the words I keep hearing are "run by") the people who run the Blaze. What a coincidence (not!) that at the same time that it is alleged that the EIHL have basically taken over the running of IHUK, the Blaze coach becomes GB coach and the Blaze owner/GM/whateverheis becomes GB team manager... Jobs for the boys?
Thirdly... the Panthers have never done well out of the (in)disciplinary process:- - Clayton Norris getting clobbered with a ban for an attack that independent coaches watching the video said he didn't commit. - The bench clearance, where Scott Allison gets his ban reduced on appeal, despite his high-speed decapitation attack from behind, yet Baz Nieckar actually ends up with a longer ban overall! - Shmyr getting a 3 game ban for words and chucking his helmet (at the ice, not at the ref) whilst Clouthier gets 2 games for gouging/fish-hooking and Ndur gets 1 game for actually threatening a ref with a weapon! - And no doubt plenty more that I can't recall right now...
Pathetic.

to be fair i didnt think he was waving his stick AT the ref.... I thought he was just waving to point to an area of the ice or at a player.

It just confirms what the sport in this country & particularly this league is becoming - a joke.
Throw your helmet - 2 games. That's the rule - fair enough, he did it Swing your stick more than once at the referee whilst giving him a lesson in creative uses of the English language & you get one.
The league need to look at their priorities when it comes to rule making? How many people get hurt by flying helmets compared to swinging sticks?

Personally though i think everyone is pretty much equal in the say they have and i wouldnt by into conspiracy theories. I thought you were more sensible than that Shaggy. As for the jobs for the boys comment, Who else was better equipped for the GB job than Paul Thompson? i can hear the cries of the GB faithful now if an 'import' coach was appointed? now since Thommo is in charge it makes sense that he will have people around him he has a good working relationship with and whom he can trust. there arent conspiracies each way you turn around British ice hockey imo. I said at the time a one match ban would suffice and i would imagine Carson wrote nothing in his match report which would suggest he felt in danger so if Carson doesnt feel it was worth more thats the best testimony for me.

I must have really missed something here, at the point just before Carson makes the first misconduct signal Ndur's stick strikes his arm! Then when the 2nd attempt is made he flinches away fearing it would come into contact with him!!

So the next time a player gets thrown out and starts waging his stick at the ref with some venom, after his side loses to cardiff you will just accept it then Gazza?
I presume this is the norm then now of how to conduct yourself when you ain t happy with a call.
If Giants score a dodgy goal tomorrow I hope clarke goes hairing after the ref with his stick

Could not Strachan continued as GB coach? He was never told he was not wanted anymore as far as I can remember.

Sorry but i think everyone is over reacting here.
Players get frustrated. Refs included, they are all big men and im sure bad language alone wouldnt not have warranted Shmyrs ban. It does depend however on if it directed as personal abuse towards the official.
Stick waving? Im still convinced that he was using it to point to a players, and area of the ice, whatever. At no point did i think he is going hit him with the stick. Foolish yes given the climate throughout the game and blazes obvious anger at the decision.
Ndur doesnt strike me as a guy who would lose it al-la Eric Cairns. He is a sensible enforcer IMO.
Now im not saying both bans are fair. Im just saying that for what he actually did... we seem to baying for his blood? We won the game eh?

Hey, im still struggling to figure out what hes actually good at, enforcing, he s not the best fighter certainly off the rep he had when he came here, massive let down.
secondly.. hes one of the slowest skaters ive ever seen, has the turning arc of a oil tanker. Not the best overall d man either.

Im just saying that for what he actually did... we seem to baying for his blood? We won the game eh? I see what you mean Teddy but when Ndur started waving his stick at Carson he over-stepped the line & Carson penalized him for it, the problem then is the league have undermined Carson's position by not penalizing him further. This isn't new. How many people on here remember Danny Lornez avoiding a ban after shoving Carson. Neither player would have gotten off so lightly had they been playing in the NHL or any number of other leagues. The other problem is that the league's lack of action sets a dangerous precedent both in this case & Payette's actions of a couple of weeks ago. The size or lack of bans tells players & coaches that they can get away with these things & leaves the league open to accusations of inconsistency if they give out different bans next time these things happen.

To be fair ive seen him fight once, against shmyr. I dont think he gave a good account of himself.
Hes definately a big lad. Dunno if he has a place as like you say he isnt the best players but then again, someone whos only shmyr a few times this season would probably say the same

from the video i saw it looks pretty much like it was aimed at carson and definitely in his general direction ted and you dont get much more threatened than that.... other than being hit that is.

When you hear something like that from just one source, you tend to just treat it as part of the background. When you start hearing it from several sources - including people with far, far more knowledge and contacts than I could ever hope to have - you begin to wonder. The sudden revolution in the GB management (and the way it was handled) doesn't make it look any better, does it? As for Neil Black supposedly having lots of influence... <shrugs> maybe, maybe not. I've been hearing that since ISL days, but never a shred of evidence to back it up... and most of the rumours have been total cobblers (remember the debates on THF about how many ISL teams he actually owned or part-owned? - as I recall, the total got up to about 8, including Cardiff! What a load of cobblers, but fans bought into it... usually because it suited their agenda, I suppose).

We won the game eh? nothing to do with wanting his blood just need consistant calls when it comes to bans, eg 3 games for what shymr did is stupid, he barely derserved a match ban, payette goes around pretty much trying to start a bench clearence and gets nothing, and n'dur makes a move towards the ref with his stick at least once and he gets 1 automatic game ban

seems that imho teams such as belfast and coventry had always had easy rides (and sheffield before them too) when it comes to discipline. It strikes me that when both teams joined the league that one of the reasons that they joined (as they were needed at the time) was that they would be given leaway when it came to signing players and bans etc to allow them to compete (and imho they have both taken the mickey with player signings etc) and i have seen no reason to think this has changed since they both started...

If Giants score a dodgy goal tomorrow I hope clarke goes hairing after the ref with his stick Yep i will as long as its a point and not a swipe (which is what Ndur's was) His team is battling for a league title and every point is valuble his team just lost to an Overtime goal that he felt shouldnt have stood and he got frustrated he's human. Had he made contact with carson then totally different story but he didnt and he got a game ban. Remember when dishing out punishment the league will review the Referee's report if Carson had felt threatened it would have been in the report and more bans would have been handed out but they havent, Carson has been barked at by bigger and meaner than Ndur he can handle it. Shaggy: With those rumours about neil black i didnt believe them either, just like i dont believe the Coventry one. Sport in this country only needs one person 'near the top' to start saying them they believe to be true and the rest instantly believe it and it gets around. the GB system was in dire need of a turn in fortune which i believe the coventry/simms era will bring. I dont believe that mike cowley though could have any more influence over the other members of the board room how could he possibly do it?
