The best we can hope for is getting back to how we were. That this is the blip and it will get better. I 100% agree, this team can do it, we’ve seen that they can. Every team has a blip and they have to make sure that this is the end of it, we are right in the thick of it at the top of the league, nothings over with yet, us fans have to turn up and get behind them, try and motivate them ourselves.

Just listened to our esteemed Coach's thoughts (in association with Xynomics!) I've come to the conclusion he's inebriated. 🙁

Players come in, a lot of promise from previous seasons, show they’re good players early doors and we get it to a great start in the league. December comes and we nose dive out of contention. I’m guessing that Corey’s “systems” get figured but he has no other coaching material to work from and thus sticks with what he knows? Sack someone in the morning and wake the team up. I’d be on the phone to Brock Wilson asking if he knows how to change the batteries in Shalla because they’ve gone flat!!

Don't really want Facebook's arguments on here thanks.
And the one before that was probably libellous.

Championship teams dont lose 4 games in a row...
On the changes front at this point id only be looking at shalla. Hes simply not doing what he was brought in to do.

Interesting stats, Panthers have been outshout in 11 of 23 games in the league this year, and in 9 of the last 12 games.

Half the time these days we struggle to get to 30. With the possible exception of Perlini, this years team really is poor in front of goal. But I guess that’s what you get when you sign average forwards.

Every team will hit a bad bit of form - ours has just come at the worst possible time.
Garnett has tweeted to say thank you and they want to get better. He’s the only one last night IMO who could hold his head up (I haven’t read the other 4 pages to see what anyone else has said, time is tight today) but an incredibly frustrating couple of weeks. We need to get back to basics and outwork teams and get the forecheck going again.

To make life harder Belfast have 30 games in the league left 22 at home and 8 away. That could well be a telling factor. Regarding Panthers the performances against European opposition (including Krefeld) seemed to show a side with good understanding, with a well organised defence. Shalla was scoring regularly. That now seems a long way away. We now seem not to be able for three periods in a match. There seemed to be cohesion, which with time together has gone backwards. In the past we have older rosters and fitness training has been called into question. Its a younger, quicker group, but there are still the same problems to be sorted out. I hope this can be addressed, but its an uphill task perhaps.

This is a squad of good players, we saw that early in the season and in the CHL, but the longer they work under Corey and his systems they get the much of the good stuffed coached out of them, it happens nearly every year. As time goes on they realise the coach is actually lacking in some areas (particularly offensive tactics and motivational skills) and they start to under perform as a result.
Bringing in new players is not what is needed, bringing in a new coach is what's needed.
Corey says "No red flag yet" really!? 6 losses in eight games for a team "laser focused on the league" gezz with a coach that self motivated what chance have the players got?
Same old same from Corey, same old same league performance.
We've just lost 3 wheels off the wagon, and Corey's still rolling along. Lol

Worst performance of the season. One thing we had at the start of the season was fight. We never knew when we were beaten now we look like rabbits in headlights. We’ve also got passengers now. Shalla and bussieres can go for me they bring absolutely nothing and both missed absolute sitters tonight. And why after bussieres fluffed two sitters on the power play wasn’t he changed. If he can’t score put someone on there who can Those fluffed shots should have been goals & it might have made a game of it, definitely agree. Shalla; I don’t see what he brings to the team personally. At least Derlago has started scoring. Disappointing night.

Every year seems to go the same way lately. At the outset, the players are in part playing to their own systems, and start the season flying. Then after a few months, generally around Christmas, the customary slump begins. Probably early this year because we started early.
The only possible conclusion I can come to is that somehow, Neilson manages to train the life out of them. His way or no way scenario. Until there is some sort of big shake-up at management level I fear that this is all we have to look forward to.

I saw your retweet of his though & I have to say kudos to him for doing so.

...Steve Lee tonight was shocking. The bloke’s the captain but he can’t even do the basics. Seemed to be on the ice for every one of Belfast’s goals and I lost count of how many times he gave the puck straight to the opposition... I don't count giveaways (nowhere to put the bucket of pencil sharpening shavings) but Lee was on the ice for Belfast goals 2, 4 and 5 (PPG). Perlini, Shalla, Farmer, Lee, Gagnon and Brisebois were all -2 for their evening's work last night. Interestingly, Bussieres was +2 for the night. What he also showed was that he's not exactly a sniper, though. Quite why Derlago wasn't where he was on those PPs is beyond me. The early season top line of 9/19/44 appeared to be reunited over the weekend. They all returned -3 for the 2 games combined. Panthers last night looked like a cricketer who has been in good touch, but is struggling for what cricketers call "form". Any cricketer will tell you that getting form back isn't something you can just "do". Edit to add that Garnett was indeed a shining light last night. It could easily have been 10 without him. He was hung out to dry time after time. The second goal in particular was almost predictable. 2-1 lead, the clock winding down... The puck looked like it was cleared over the blueline, with less than 10 seconds to go, and the 5 on the ice switched off. Turns out it wasn't over the blueline at all, cue Giant all alone in the slot, 2-2. Final edit, Panthers have conceded 17 goals in the last 2 minutes of a period this season, while scoring 10.

This happens every year, yet the same thing keeps happening again and again. Players change every year, but there is one common denominator which remains the same....Neilson ! He is the problem,he can’t motivate and doesn’t even believe it’s his job to do so. Tactics remain the same, they don’t work, his systems are inept, but still nothing changes. He shows no passion,or anger, never seems to threaten a players job and all we hear is lame talk or excuses. Show some fight man for gods sake, fire somebody or bring some competition for places in. It’s all too bloody cushy in Pantherland. Neilson needs to go,in fact he should have gone at least two seasons ago !

They maybe rivals but one things a fact they demand success in Sheffield and more often than not get it. Attitudes need to change in pantherland

Exactly Pidge And here is an absolute prime example.
Last week. Thompson blasts his team, threatens jobs, cancels their Monday off and hits his players with extra training.
This week. Meanwhile Neilson offers nothing but lame talk and excuses, even credits his players for working very very hard,Monday off as usual and then even a nice Christmas party at “The Legend” tonight.
Jesus,talk about taking the pee !!!! 😡

If every Neilson team gets the quality coached out of them, why have we done well at the end of seasons with playoff and challenge cup trophies?

[/quote Players don’t need motivating for end of season play offs etc. It’s what they do naturally and as much as they might say they understand the “league thing”....it really isn’t very important to them. They are just paying lip service to it to tow the club line. Laser focussed on the league...cobblers. Neilson is incapable of motivating a team for a long period of time. Sometimes like last night, even for ONE period ! He’s lucky he’s at a team with money. Put him coaching in this league outside the “big four” and he would have won precisely sod all !!!

You would rather our coach said or did nothing then would you ? The difference between Sheffield and Panthers is that one team reacts to the problem and the other just sits there doing nothing. And in one camp they win the league quite regularly, whilst in the other the same blueprint follows year, after year, after year, after year, after year.... If your happy accepting excuses and mediocrity then that’s up to you,but I’m not !

Considering history and the predictable recent performances I cannot believe anybody is defending the Panthers. How many time do we have to watch the same sorry story before the penny drops?

It is funny about Corey’s ‘systems’ he chooses to bang on about so much at the start of every season. New guys come in and no matter how well or poorly they play, they’re always ‘getting used to our systems’. Every year we start brightly then fade away...
Shalla was sniping goals out of nowhere in Bern back in August... now he’s struggling to get possession in the offensive zone.
Mokshantsev is ghosting round looking lost half the game when we’ve all seen how capable he is when given the freedom of expression!
Defensively we again let our keeper down time after time. Wiikman suffered with it, Kowalski would have to stand on his head, KSP suffered etc etc.
The ‘systems’ don’t work! They were found out years and years ago.
