I know Panthers have been slated before with regard to the positioning of fixtures, but this one sits perfectly. They are away at Sheffield and we have a home game against what most people believe to be the weakest team in the league (not to be taken lightly, I should stress).

Anybody travelling down to the Sunday game please be aware the Brynglas tunnel near Newport will be closed. The diversion is not horrendous but will add time to your journey. I look forward to seeing lots of visitors. It will be a great game.

Panthers slightly shaded the first and look a bit better on th epode rely - hit the bar before the end - More of power play left for second period.

3-0 down end of the second, no intensity at all and not clinical enough, frustrating

One decent period, one very poor. The third is going to have to be pretty special if we are to get anything from this.

I think I prefer the NHL18 video game footage of Panthers v Devils posted on another thread!

Is this team only here to put themselves in the CHL shop window?? Such a gulf in class by only a couple of weeks!

So frustrating. We have seen what this team is capable of. Just not happening so far. If you judge this team from the start of the domestic campaign it's been dissapointing. Managed to get 4 league points from 4 before tonight, however we are yet to put in any convincing performances. Last years team showed flashes of brilliance whilst delivering an overall poor domestic campaign. At the same time it delivered some great performances in Europe setting new records for British hockey. Whilst it's obvious the CHL acheivements of this season are way ahead of last year, it's worrying so far to see those similarities to last seasons team. It's far to early to make any rash decisions on this team. It certainly appears from what we've seen so far that this is a group of guys who want to acheive as a group. I'm by no means writing them off and believe they will come good. Unfortunatly the scars of recent years have me a little worried.
Top line oozes class but very little end product(aside the CC game). The 3rd line works hard & the 4th does a job. Far too much relience on the 2nd line at the moment. About time for a few tweaks and hopefully it all comes good.
Oh and let's have a storming 3rd and I can forget all of the above. 😁

Brown and Billingsley showed up well, but after the power play in the second it went down hill. We didn't seem to really fashion the clear cut chances, but we seem to have the players. Garnett gave up a couple of rebounds where he might have done better. The annoying thing is that there was little between the 2 sides.

Garbage. Four games into the domestic campaign and it's same old, same old.

I agree with everything you've put, especially the fact that there isn't much difference between us and Cardiff. I just wish though that we'd play with a bit more intensity and nastiness, get in their faces, go in hard, it's early but changes to our style of play need to be made I feel

Two very unconvincing wins against teams outside our conference and two defeats against teams in our conference doesn't install much confidence I'm afraid.

Well that was a disappointing game. Lots of promise is shown but we did not have the finesse to finish our plays, our shots, our passes. However I am very happy that we showed some toughness and won both fights. Gagnon's punches looked like they hurt.
Training focus for this week: 1. Tape-to-tape passing, not tape-to-within 5 metres passing. 2. Finishing

And still rolling an import down and no replacement for our second import netminder.
Same old...

Defensively not been great (Garnett doing too much), offensively we're very wasteful and devoid of ideas (Steelers put 7 past Guildford away tonight). Hopefully something will click with this team as we've seen their potential... bloody rubbish domestically so far though!

I didn't watch tonight,but I'm guessing.
We didn't move our feet. We didn't execute at a high level. We didn't get some bounces. And we got away from the game plan. But there were some positives.

I thinks its safe to say we're struggling atm. We're just not flowing. I said it last night and tonight has only confirmed my opinion, we're frustrated.
Its just not clicking. Guys are spending too long thinking about passes, there's not enough movment off the puck, miscontrols everywhere, a lack of physical domination and poor passing execution.
Unlike other years we know this team can do it, but its not happening right now. 1 weekend is a blip, 2 weekends is the start of a slump. Time for Corey to earn his money.
If we'd played like this in the CHL we've have been destroyed.

We controlled large parts of that game which is encouraging but if you don't take your chances it counts for absolutely nothing. Clarke not cashing in on a stickless Bowns just about summed it up for me.
A few lapses at the back. Guildford didn't punish us for it last night but a team like Cardiff don't need to be asked twice.
I've got no problem with our general style of play but for God's sake stop coughing the puck up right in front of our own keeper and get the puck to the net more and we'll be absolutely fine.
Plenty to work on but no panic from me just yet.

I think we are constantly rushing plays at the back. Looks to me that we have a quick transition game we want to play in order to hit teams with our speed. Our Dmen appear so pre occupied with playing to the plan every time they fail to do the basics, then often end up passing it straight to an opposision forward or getting it caught under their feet ad being stripped of the puck. Our forwards are trying to be too pretty rather than taking shots.
Top line. All flash and no bang. Maybe opponents focusing on shutting them down.
2nd line. Only one producing consistantly.
3rd line. Just not quite working going forward. Perhaps not enough skill to create chances. The line that really needs a shake up. Plenty of effort. Brown is playing his role well.
4th line. At times look to put a shift in and do some good work. Not producing a lot at the front end. No issue with that. As a 4th line should be a more defensive based unit to shut opposision down. Problem is, they were on the ice for at least 2 goals tonight.
Need to move Mosey Forward and put Erik back(asuming Brisbois isn't returning soon or no replacement brought in). Also move Buiserries up too.
To be honest. I think i'm just happy we have recognisable lines we can try and discuss strengths and weaknesses. What a novelty that is.
Tonight specifically.
Why not pull Garnett when on the PP near the end of the 3rd? Why was the 4th line still in regular rotation chasing a game deep in the 3rd. Surely the bench should have been shortened and perhaps a little shake up of the last 2 lines.

Just doesn't seem to be the team that lit up the CHL seems we've either taken our foot off the pedal and are struggling to get back up to speed or maybe teams have just figured us out a little. Power play was poor again, turn over in our D zone isn't ideal either and over playing and looking for that extra pass when we just need to get the shot off is frustrating. We need to get back to throwing the body, get nasty, give a player a little slash behind the play, get in faces, get on the goalie early. We're not short of toughness so we've got players to back each other up. Brown led by example tonight, why he hasn't got the C is beyond me. Finally got to see Gagnon go full tilt and it was scarily good even if he got popped and cut with one, Bussieres is wasted on the 4th line, he needs to better players on his level, or use his energy and pair him with Brown and Lindhagen. I'm not sure else what to say. Hopefully we can start to gel more, get some goals from the top line and breath confidence into the team again and play hard nosed free scoring hockey
