Even though I'm concerned about the performances, I'm not concerned yet. Mind you, I would like to see some dominating results for us next week.
It's not as if we are constantly going to Cardiff and winning therefore to me going to Cardiff and losing is not a major shock.
However the Brisbois situation needs addressing. If he's out for a long time then a replacement/cover is required. It's not is if we are hearing that he's almost fit and returning sooner than later. You would think that there is a very capable D-Man out there and available. Also our exploits in The CHL should have opened up some doors into getting a very good player. Maybe we can get a up and coming player on loan from Bern...etc.
What's annoying is that (As mentioned from another post) Sheffield seem to be able to get cover very quickly, I swear they have somebody lined up within 60 minutes upon hearing how long a player is out for.
By the way, what are the rules regarding bring back Tetlow from loan, surely he could cover a few shifts?

Just doesn't seem to be the team that lit up the CHL seems we've either taken our foot off the pedal and are struggling to get back up to speed or maybe teams have just figured us out a little. Power play was poor again, turn over in our D zone isn't ideal either and over playing and looking for that extra pass when we just need to get the shot off is frustrating. We need to get back to throwing the body, get nasty, give a player a little slash behind the play, get in faces, get on the goalie early. We're not short of toughness so we've got players to back each other up. Brown led by example tonight, why he hasn't got the C is beyond me. Finally got to see Gagnon go full tilt and it was scarily good even if he got popped and cut with one, Bussieres is wasted on the 4th line, he needs to better players on his level, or use his energy and pair him with Brown and Lindhagen. I'm not sure else what to say. Hopefully we can start to gel more, get some goals from the top line and breath confidence into the team again and play hard nosed free scoring hockey once Brisebois is back i'd put Mosey back as forward with Brown and Bussieres, then put Lindhagen with Lacho and Ollie as the speedy, shutdown line. Bench Clarke as I don't think he's been performing at all so far, not just in terms of goal scoring but work rate as well. As for the power play I think we need to get it back to basics, utilise Sauve's shot from the blue line and get Brown and Bussieres in front, we seem determined to get the perfect play and it just isn't working hence our poor PP record so far. Hopefully Brisebois can provide something on this as well

Most people would agree have signed a squad this season with great potential. It's now time for Corey to really earn his money and get this squad performing to that potential week in week out. He also needs to do something decisive about the Brisebose situation, that's 12 games played this season and yet to ice a full bench of 14 imports.

Disappointed yes. Result expected? Yes. Cardiff is a tough place to go but our drop in form is my concern currently. The highs of the CHL need to be re-captured. I'm not going to single out anyone for criticism just yet but we need to come out swinging next weekend and get a couple of wins.
The webcast commentators got it right - at least we went down with a bit of a fight and didn't look happy at the result

"Panthers have some work to do defensively this week" Errrr....seem to remember Corey saying that after the loss in Sheffield last week too ! 🙄

Brown and Billingsley showed up well, but after the power play in the second it went down hill. We didn't seem to really fashion the clear cut chances, but we seem to have the players. Garnett gave up a couple of rebounds where he might have done better. The annoying thing is that there was little between the 2 sides. Your right there wasn't a lot between the teams,1st period was very nip and tuck to be honest both netties made some important saves to keep it 0-0.2nd period we were quicker to the Puck and to the rebounds, your D didn't really clear the crease for your Nettie especially on Reddicks goal. It was pretty close until we went a few goals up and it seemed to deflate your guys. You had a purple patch when you scored. 3rd period we saw the game out, not sure what Farmer was trying to do at the end to be honest??. Like the white helmet/white shirt 👍👍

By the way I felt that the webcast was excellent and the commentators top class. To be fair the guys who commentate are really unbiased, they call the game fairly and honestly

Putting things into perspective due to the the results in the CHL and preseason the team have set the bar very, very high and we all have expected them to reach those performance levels constantly.
A 4-1 loss to the current league champs in their building which is notorious to play in, isn't the end of the world and it doesn't make us a bad team.
Looking back at the game the first period we were more dominant creating the better chances but failing to capatiise, the second period Cardiff were better, created more and did capatilise. The third period was shared overall I feel. Had we capatilised and our opportunities it would have been a different scoreline I feel.
However, there are areas that need addressing, the main one being the powerplay, the units need shaking up and I think we need to practice some different plays especially utilising Sauve's slap shot.
