from the tv it looked liked Garnett played his best game so far.. Bern looked great but for the most part our defence held up so cant criticise them too bad and oh do those refs call soft penalties its not tiddly winks you know, they are grown men they can handle a little argy bargy.
As for the 2+2 and "holding the puck" both are extremely unlikely to be called in England.

Very impressive result away against one of the best and big budgeted teams in Europe. i would love to know how much their playing budget actually is, let alone all of the non-playing staff they have.
this result continues to excite me about the upcoming season that this team can really achieve something this year.
Looking at the other results, TPS looked very slow against a very quick and clinical Mountfield, so if we can get a result i would expect it to come against TPS
A bittersweet night for Cardiff, coming up against a ruthless Davos. 10-1 is embarrassing and i would have hoped theyd have achieved a scoreline similar to ours being a team i have at a similar level to ours, but we've been on the end of a battering in CHL before and sometimes you just have to stand back and admire what is taking place in front of you.
Onto another tricky away tie, hoping for a similar score or better as good as Mountfield looked against TPS, i think Bern are the team to beat in our group this year
Just to add - Shalla's 2nd goal was an absolute peach. That Farmer, Perlini, Shalla line looks to be working well so far - very promising

A few thoughts after getting back from the game... The first 5 minutes or so, our lads look a bit lost... so much speed & precision coming at them. But they learned and adapted very quickly. 2 PP goals were painful, but it could have been so much worse. Don't think Lindhagen deserved 2+2 for that boarding, 2 would have been enough. That line of Perlini, Farmer & Shalla promises to be something special. Some of Philips' stick handling was sublime. Stevie Lee was an absolute rock at the back. The other player that really stood out for me was Mokshantsev. Their 4th goal seemed a bit soft - think Garnett would really want that one back. Their 5th goal was effectively another PP tally, as our guy was just coming out of the box. Those home fans were LOUD. Can we have Bratwurst served at the NIC, please? Shows how different people see games... I agree with everything you've put except Lee. He gifted them a golden chance within 10secs & he was at fault for at least 3 of their goals. For me he was the weak link, caught static time after time,. Considering Stevie Lee was only on the ice when they scored two of their goals how was he at fault for at least three of their goals, I'm really confused with this statement?

Bern goals 1,3 and 5... check the highlights (should undo any confusion):

You said 'at least' three goals implying he was probably at fault for more than the three...
Anyway after having a good look at the highlights, please explain to me how he was at fault for the first goal? Was shot from just past the blue line, Lee was at the goal next to Garnett.
The third goal he turned but Brown inside out and by the time the Bern player got to Lee he was coming with such speed, not sure any of our guys would have coped with that...
The final goal was a perfect powerplay goal, can't fault him for that...
Think you are being overly harsh on Lee, Bern has some serious quality, but I guess you don't like him, so look to pick fault.
Think overall the guys should be applauded for that performance, all of them!

He played a role in all 3 of those goals IMO - first one maybe a little unkind but the other two he was caught static. Agree to disagree, eh?

Shalla with an absolute snipe on his second. Been looked very fast clean and sharpe, by no means embarrassing which is good to lose to them. Here's hoping for some success in the coming games. Big ask but stranger things have happened

Actually it was myself who described Steve Lee as a rock, and I stand by that. Mainly down to the work he did in stopping a load of other goals, not so much one or two that did get through.

Didn't see it myself. As has already been pointed out, from the very first face off he allowed a break. Then for one of their goals he allowed their player to come from below the goal line to the front of the net with no obstruction at all.

Congrats to you guys on a really good performance last night, 5-2 away from home against huge opposition is a great result. You guys look very strong this season and our games should be belters. How good does Farmer look.

How good does Farmer look. Farmer has got better and better every season since he moved to Panthers. Neilson's coaching definitely seems to suit him. I was hoping for more from Cardiff, so much for "Devils on Fire".

Bern probably had 3 more gears to go though if they wanted. Davos clearly felt like puttimg devils to the sword. But we did look the better of the 2 British teams. Love the way our guys work so hard.
