Its great that fans think we did well but we still lost both games, players missing or not, and if we had won i'm sure fans would be saying you can only beat whats in front of you, which cardiff did..... twice....
As stated earlier winning can become a habit...... as can losing...

Great lets not bother with them then, and as for we are all doomed... Well... think words in mouth spring to mind If when we finally get a full squad and they go on to beat Cardiff then it wouldn't matter but who's got the upper hand now in the next games?

If those two games were anything to go by I think Devils and Panthers are going to have a very competitive season. I look forward to League starting immensely. Good luck with your CHL games!

Website says Gagnon and Brisebois were sat as precautions, so hopefully nothing that'll keep them out too long.
Decent result given we were down to (I think) 16 players and had Sam in goal.

As for winning, yes I would rather see the panthers win rather than lose, come the regular season if the team can turn those defeats into wins then it really wont matter but winning is habit forming and one the devils are continuing from last season with pretty much the same squad. For longer term fans the year we had brebant and didn't lose a game till the new year we had a wobble and it went downhill from there, losing became a bit of a habit just like winning can. On the face of it, yes, results don't seem too bad but why should the fans settle for the losses, if the club had done what was promised and got all the players in for the beginning of the pre season then we would have a more realistic view of our chances rather than scrabbling in the dark for positives in what was (in the NIC anyway) a fairly one sided game where it looked at times we couldn't win a faceoff let alone buy a goal... I think it was halfway through the second period before we actually won a faceoff, it makes it very difficult to setup a pp when you have to win the puck back and that proved to be the case with a totally ineffective pp too... As I said as I left an awful lot for the coach to work on, that's if he even sees this....

I'm happy with what I saw, from a very depleted roster, against a full and settled roster.
I know neither side gave 100% in both games, but it's promising to see us matching Devils and making it difficult for them, with us missing so many key players. Sure we lost, but it's pre-season, the overall goal isn't specifically to win every game. It's about match fitness and putting the drills and tests Corey puts them through in training, to work in a real game situation.
The upcoming games, next weekend against Krefeld and I suppose Braehead will be the ones to get more of an idea on what kind of roster we have on the ice. Everyone should be in, Zakharchenko too hopefully and with another week of training behind them, the guys currently here should hopefully take on a more prominent role.
I'm still happy, and I'm still very excited.

Never mind, I've now found the other similar post.
Weird that C_Jones has Panthers above both Cardiff and Sheffield after 1 pre-season friendly.

You do seem to be drawing some rather negative conclusions based on a week's training and 2 friendlies where we're missing a lot of personnel.

Lol - just joined
I did post both in different threads I think - one Steeltalk and the other THF?
Anyway, I was there on Sat and that's how I saw it. I only travel to home games now and again so didn't see the return game and can only go via Tweets and Inferno comments and it seems that Panthers had the better chances even though I now find you were 6 down! Mightily impressed by the young Brits, especially Tetlow, for such a tall guy he does not look out of place.
I know it's pre-season and even though one of our lines played the second part of last season together they still need to get match fit and learn the new plays the coach wants this season.
I thought on Saturday you were quicker and bigger. The 2 quick PPG knocked them back a bit but they still competed hard for everything giving us no space or great chances either. Murdy stood on his head a number of times too.
It was great to see a pre-season friendly with an edge too.
Not looking forward to visiting when you have a full roster!
They're my thoughts.

I cant get a handle on how good Krefeld are, yes a good league but looks like they finished in a poor position last year. What do we think difficult challange, no chance, easy victory??
