To be fair Perring has been poor, never done us any favours. Let's just revisit this and have another think......

An awesome and unexpected evening. I expected us to be well beaten but thankfully I was proved very wrong.
The first period performance was outstanding capped by Brian McGrattan making Fitzgerald look a prize chump, I don't think I've ever seen such a perfectly executed 60 seconds of play from an enforcer. McGrattan showed all his NHL credentials right there, it was fantastic to witness.
Second period they were all over us but thankfully Miika Wiikman was on top form, third period turned in to the Pering and Brown show. I don't like to criticise referee's but it was total bias toward Sheffield. Nothing against the penalties called as they were penalties for me, just that the same offences commited by those in orange were being completely ignored. However the Lawrence goal 10 seconds from time was a little bit of justice IMO and a huge goal to score.
On to today. It won't be easy and it certainly isn't over but a 3 goal cushion is a nice buffer to take up there. Game on.

Twitter is excellent after a game such as yesterday's. I've just seen a Steelers fan tweet in response to the video of McGrattans owning of Fitzy say that Fitzy 'smashed' McGrattan and McGrattan 'bottled it'.
The Yorkshire hicks must have taken to the moonshine after last night!

Did anyone see Stefs reply to a Panthers tweet about Browns hit on Sarich?
Must've monstered him.

Where morons compete to be the master in their chosen field. Anyone else notice that it was Fitzy's legs McGrattan put the goal through? That has to be the cleverest play I've ever seen, from resisting the urge to particpate, drawing the penalty, waving at him to remind him that he's been comprehensively "had", then scoring on the delayed penalty? Incredible. I suspect Fitzy got a quiet word from Thommo at some stage last night. He has form for being a little indisciplined and costing his team. While I'm on, surely Lindhagen and Brown (I think, or was it Schultz?) should get assists on the goal?

Less than 6,00 for a Steelers match - I hear NB has already added up how much it cost him in lost sales!

I'm kind of hoping for the impossible here, and expecting the league to get professional, but shouldn't DOPS have a panel set up to review incidents in the first leg of these ties? I'm thinking specifically that on a normal weekend, Fitz may have been facing a retrospective ban for the "crosschecks to the head?"

You'd think so, yes, but I didn't see anything ban-worthy last night, to be fair.

You'd think so, yes, but I didn't see anything ban-worthy last night, to be fair. Quite possibly not. My query was something that occurred to me as a result of Fitzy trying to get McGratton to fight. If there is no panel, and a player does something that either has no automatic ban, or the offence wasn't penalised correctly, then he could offend with no worry about missing the next night's tie.

Awesome, pawsome 1st period. Great to go to Sheffield with 3-0 lead. Well done boys. Hopefully next season we'll have more consistency in playing just as well.
