Shocking news! Key player, superb last season and one of the last entertainers and I thought, gentleman. Disserpointing that a player would sign a 2 year contract extension then retire 2 weeks before the season starts. Will wait for cams side of this story before commenting further.

There probably is one enforcer that will be harder than Cam currently in Europe, zenon Konopka. This guy is really mean, ex boxer and will lay the guys in the eihl flat.
Currently plays at a 3000 arena.
Corey go to sanok and see if you can get him please......
Ask Cam if he would like to face him.

Shame as he put up good numbers in the AHL.

Daniel Maggio to replace Cam Gui Lepine as final D Adds some toughness I'd rather someone with a bit more scoring for Cam's replacement. We're still short of goals as well as toughness.

Whilst it's very disappointing with Cam leaving, it's a very justifiable decision (It only takes one hit for a player to be forced to retire)
I've never seen players scared to death of a hit and I've never seen opposing players hooking someone in order to prevent a hit therefore I'm guessing that there are nine teams quite delighted with todays news.

He'd get about the same point production as Cam and we aren't about scoring this year didn't you get the memo? We're a defensively gritty low scoring grind out wins type. Panthers aim to charge you for a seat you'll only use the edge off, that's the kind of season we've got in store for us.

Latest on the Janssen saga..
He hasn't retired officially and is just taking time out essentially, to see where this new venture goes. Says he wants to retire on 'his terms' which translates as, these aren't his terms and if he's going out of the game he wants to go out on a bang.
He only told Corey yesterday which is incredibly surprising, but the surprise gets bigger.. It was Corey who rang Janssen, just to check up on how his packing and plans were coming along in terms of arriving before Monday, and then Janssen dropped the bombshell. Why didn't Cam say anything earlier? Perhaps he was just plucking up the courage to tell Panthers, but who knows.. One thing for sure though is that he definitely sounds as though he has unfinished business out on the ice and whether he returns to finish that business will be determined by the next few months.

Very poor communication on Cams part, if Corey hadn't called him was he just not going to turn up then? You'd have thought the flights would have been booked if he was expected here by Monday and accommodation deposits all sorted.

You'd have thought the flights would have been booked if he was expected here by Monday and accommodation deposits all sorted. If it happened as stated in the article then yes very bad form. Of course it is only one side of the story though. Imagine the uproar on here if it was almost anyone else. What would be people saying if Chris Lawerence had done it and in that manner?! Loved Cam as everyone else did. Going to be very difficult to replace what he brought to the team. An out an out goon won't even come close to it. But if it happened as stated then very disappointed

IF this is true, Janssen should be ashamed of himself! This is poor form on his behalf to say the least.

If true, all rather odd.
A bit odd that we reported it as retirement too?

If true, all rather odd. A bit odd that we reported it as retirement too? Is it a case of GM/media team trying to spin it and Corey being honest? Or perhaps a simple misunderstanding when Corey has relayed to the Panthers management and them getting the wrong end of the stick that he's retiring? If the Post article is anything to go by it sounds like Cam has potentially led the club on.

Corey makes it sound as though he's been granted leave by saying he definitely hasn't retired and he was happy to allow him to chase his new job. Perhaps Corey isn't confident that it'll work out for him?
I do hope the contract has gone through the shredder a couple times so the money he'd get over 2 years can be thrown at another big name player.

Cams message to the fans should be interesting. If it still happens ! Lol Still waiting for the final parts of Grimaldi's blog! The tool just started to touch up on his time in Nottingham and then decided that 'nobody is interested' despite plenty being so! I'd assume he got threatened with some form of legal action.
