I wish he had found hockey when he first moved here, as he certainly wouldn't have been posting on here now.

Tell me which item in my posts is untrue Shorty. At least i contribute to this forum....unlike some who just respond with silly questions like you just asked ! Contribute or just troll!! End of the day, Mr Black will make the decesion about the G.M. But from his view, why would he change, trophies are NOW coming in, attendances up, you would imagine takings covering the costs. That is what I believe he would be judged on. Oh could it be there are a handful on here who don't think he is up to the job, and want Mr Black will sack him. Grow up, it a business, aswell as a hockey club.

The thread is asking for opinions on GM, good and bad, and Iginla has provided his views. I'm sure everyone who has commented on this thread is grown up, and doesn't expect GM to go anywhere. This thread has a very 'balanced view' about it, as usual taken over by the usual suspects, and should be re-titled 'Lets all have a pop at GM'. So why don't you provide some balance? List the positive things GM's done/does, in your opinion?

In my opinion he does a good job at making the general public aware of the Nottingham Panthers, (liveried players' cars, large banners, bins in the city centre, and shop window advertising. All part of why crowds are on the increase (it wouldn't seem to be the results so far this season, according to most on here). I don't go along with the 'shooting fish in a barrel' theory of GM'S detractors. I don't think anybody would have expected us to draw a crowd of over six thousand against the Caps, well done GM. The match night experience, decried on this forum by the 'revolting peasants', cannot be that bad or the less than die hard fan would not return.

The things you quote are the baby basics that should be done, nothing earthshattering there tbf, I'd be really worried if we weren't doing these things. I think Sheffield do similar things as Belfast and Coventey. Yes we had a good crowd for Edinburgh, the timing of the fixture no doubt helped and yes our crowds do continue to rise, but I think you're giving GM way too much credit. There is so much more we could be doing on Social Media for example, our game highlights are an utter disgrace and could be so much better.

What has he done well? He has promoted the club well and he has helped in creating an increase in crowds this season, although the praise can't be solely left with him. Also, something I feel he has done well has hiring Eddie for the media side.
What has he done badly? He has obviously failed to keep up with other clubs in terms of media, you look at the likes of Sheffield and Belfast, what we have is embarrassing in comparison, however, I feel this will improve over the summer with Eddie hopefully, otherwise there is no point having him on board. Also, our match night is poor everything from the intro video, to lack of fan interaction and period break entertainment.
Should he stay? For him to stay he needs to allow change and for the club to progress further into modern times, both in the media department and on match nights, otherwise for me he should go and give someone else a chance who can offer their ideas.

You're dead right Panther G.
Our highlights are average. Our game night intro video is shockingly bad. Our coach interviews are in the main terrible. Our player interviews are totally predictable, boring, rushed and far too short. Our match night music is fairly poor. Our website is like Groundhog Day revisited every day. Checking it out is 50% ok,but the other half is totally cringeworthy. We don't do webcasts. We offer hardly any ticket incentives.
There is absolutely nothing in that list above that would not be difficult at all to improve........and GM presides over all of it !

I'm amazed Moran still has a job considering pretty much everything he does is poor.
Let's not forget all the work the club does with schools and charities, although I'm guessing that will be someone else at the club dealing with that.

You are quite right Shorty......it is somebody else who deals with the schools.
Not sure about charities, possibly Moran though, because as you know he likes to hog the limelight.

In my opinion - he's good at generating interest and bringing in new support. However that shouldn't be the job of the GM, you can have Marketing staff to do that. He's good at representing the clubs interests with the league, but I think that we get a raw deal from the Arena over rink availability, especially in December when big events take priority. He's got the club at heart, but what annoys me is he speaks as if he IS the club, not an employee, so are we seeing his opinion or the 'club's'. I've had dealings with GM's at other clubs (Steelers/Blaze/Giants) and he's the hardest to deal with.

He is one man doing the job of three or four which is admirable in one way but a very old fashioned way of doing things. You need a people person, not a them and us person for front of house.

Time to vote with our feet people, only thing that will have any effect. GM won't give a toss if ST holders don't turn up for a league match though. The money is already in the bank. Has to be a cup match or play off q/final to have any affect.

Has to be a cup match or play off q/final to have any affect. Sounds good to me. I'll miss both on purpose happily. Others need to follow suit, desperately. I'm not a season ticket holder so I can stop going whenever. Hit them in the pockets, only way it will hurt.

To win only 6 of the last 16 is an utter disgrace..... In any other club the coach would be out the door.
