"strictly no photography rule" That in itself is an interesting rule these days, seeing as Panthers are quite happy to retweet the results of people breaking it after almost every game (pics and videos).

It really gripes me that they keep spouting the same old rubbish regarding taking photos at the games, and then they hypocritically encourage it on social media. I wish they'd just stop this ridiculous "no photography" rule... Or if they're going to keep it at least have the decency to not lie to us about the reasons for it.

It's that time of the week once again.
Has anyone got any hockey related #AskTCW questions for us to discuss when we record the podcast tomorrow night? (MODSTUFF, we've added yours for discussion)

I'll put forward my sort of question from above: Should Panthers/the arena scrap the no-photography rule, given the club seem happy to receive the results?

Yes Jonno.
Why in the modern era, over say the last fifteen years, when we are the biggest club, with the best arena and most loyal fans, have we only won the league title once. And possibly even more concerning, only even mounted a close challenge in one other season ? The other thirteen seasons we have basically been nowhere near the title !

Would the club accept a lesser schedule in the league (36 games) for a better Cup and definitely play off tournament? What is the percentage of the Elite board that are favourable to this idea , whatever Panthers thought on this?

Should The Panthers do everything in their power to make sure that we play the 2nd leg in the Play Off Quarter Finals at home (assuming we finish in the top 4) not play it on a Saturday regardless?
Especially after giving up home advantage for the 2nd leg against Coventry last season.

You're right Guinnessman it was the 2003/4 season. Panthers were in 2nd place.......the small matter of SIXTEEN points behind the winners Steelers 92 points v 76 points.
I knew Panthers league record was bad,but Jesus it's actually appalling !

There have been many complaints about the quality of the last few POFW. If you were the EIHL, what 3 changes would you make to the whole weekend (can be anything). NB - it's a given that "lose the 3rd/4th place playoff" is going to be one, so that's not allowed as an answer

Good read. Pretty much on point for me after Saturday.
Very sad I know, but I took a group of colleagues to either their first or some their second game. After the game I was so angry, deflated(That feeling of the final nail in the coffin) and sad I just went straight home when all I'd talked about leading up to it was going out for drinks with them after.
They all generally enjoyed the game, whilst still understanding it wasn't great with us losing.
No. Completly ruined my night. I went home and played over want went wrong in my mind again and again. It really is a burden sometimes. But like most, not 1 I want to let go of. I love the club and don't ever see a time where I walk away.

One of the times I was really glad (for my own sanity) that I was driving straight home to Birmingham not going to the pub after. If I'd been in Bunkers I'd have been having a lengthy rant and getting myself even more worked up, as it was I stuck on some good music and by the time I got home I was much calmer. When Paul writes about the club chipping away at his loyalty and enthusiasm, I know exactly what he means. This season they've gone at it with a pickaxe.

An early Cats Whiskers question as I don't want to write it out again later (using my phone)
Is it time for Neil Black to go?
To add some weight to this:
We should all be grateful that he saved the club back on day one. We should be pleased that he managed to go through the lean years building the club into a viable business but for a lot of years now the Nottingham Panthers are a money tree that gets shock once or twice a week and to think anything else is just plain and simple naive.
Sheffield Steelers play a lot of games at Ice Sheffield and have often struggle to get 1000 people in. Cardiff BBT = 2500. Breahead = 3600. Nottingham Panthers = 6500
On top of that we probably have the most solid sponsorship in the league for years yet this season in particular our season has been what I personally think has been deliberately sabotaged by starting the season imports short and then the refusal to replace obvious players in key areas.
Cory Neilson: Continues to prove himself now and then on a regular basis tactically inept and then even after the Cardiff game admitted that still at the end of January players are taking it easy and not working to “the plan”. On top of that the one defender he did bring in (Kyle Hardy) couldn't possibly have been a worse fit for what was needed at the time. Madolora was brought in but FAR too late and if it was any other position other than net-minder needed I don't think for a moment he would have been signed either. Is Neil Black STILL happy with Neilson?
The Panther's head office, a “them and us” relationship with the fans, distanced, way out of date when it comes to modern day off ice entertainment (there are only a handful of teams in the league, how hard could it be to see what the better teams are doing and then making an improvement for the sake of an night out?), distracted by their own self importance and often confrontational too. This is the head office that Neil Black seems to be happy with.
Neil Black has been very good for the club in the past but I think that time has come and gone. The Panthers are an obvious cash cow and that together with the “for the good of the league” stuff just doesn't sit well with me. As a Panthers fan I want to win so bad it burns and unless the other clubs start doing things “for the good of the league” I really don't care and we need an owner that concentrates on 100% Panthers 24/7 on and off the ice. I am a Panthers fan not a Neil Black fan and I don't go away with a warm fuzzy feeling that Neil Black had another good night when it's made patently obvious to your face that the management couldn't give a stuff. He is possibly a very decent bloke but I go to watch the Panthers not go home thinking what a great week at the turnstiles Neil Black had.
We have had years of the “well we have the stability” crap, well so do most of the other teams now and some have leaped way over us from a long way back. I think a lot of fans are Neil Black fans first and Panthers fans second but need to look back hard over the last few years. We had a GENUINE chance to be able to build on the league winning side but chose to wave them all off with a smile instead.
We play at the National Ice Center, we have a city center arena, Nottingham is an ice hockey city and we have more people sitting down at any given game than the Edinburgh Capitals get in almost two months. If the Panthers went up for sale tomorrow they would have another owner by tea time. Surely the time has come when we deserve a REAL Panthers fan for an owner? A Panthers owner who want's the fans NOT to leave the building booing? An owner who wants to try to be on the ice celebrating with his league winning team like a guy who just won the lottery? Or are we happy than he wins the lottery without supporting the team every week as the fans boo their way out? Or perhaps we all rubbing our hands with glee that there will be a London team at some point instead?
If the Panthers were a team club in ANY other sport there would have been calls for him to move on long ago. Are the Panthers worth supporting any more or are we just happy for a night out and to be the bankroll for future teams? Neil Black has been excellent for the Panthers but it's getting a bit long in the tooth now and it's surely time for Panthers to step up the ladder to their full potential?
