Boxill is about to head to Australia for their season so theoretically he shouldn't be signing any contract until he's done there in Late August/Early September.

It looks like he's already signed for Adelaide Adrenaline: www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=52729 I believe I read somewhere that he was supposed to be in the squad last Saturday (25th) but wasn't due to complications.

Yeahh, he's definitley signed with them but i don't think he got there in time for the first game. Surely him playing with them will mean he can't sign anywhere else until it's towards the end of the season? Might have a verbal agreement with us or something

I can't see Boxy going anywhere, but Lacho I wouldn't be surprised if he did.
If it was a choice of having one or the other I would take Boxill.

Based on overall performance, not just last season, and if I had to choose, I would take Lacho without a doubt. Still young and a great player, was just poorly supported last year with the awful imports he had along side him. He is born and bred in Nottingham and I would be pretty cheesed off if one of our rivals snapped him up.....

Boxill over Lacho any day of the week. Lacho has lazy games and shows a real lack of effort whilst Boxill rarely coasts a shift.

But I'd give Lacho more credit than that. He has had 2 mediocre seasons if all you're looking at is stats. But last year he was constantly on the ice due to injuries or PK. He hasn't had guys around him that "click" since Francis. I may be fairly new here, and relatively new to Hockey (awaits notorious Cage members to rip me apart) but I wouldn't say he is the only one who has suffered standing shoulder to shoulder with uninterested imports. That aside, you let Lacho go, you're gonna wee wee off A LOT of fans, who just love him for being a local lad.

Lacho didn't have a great season last time out, but then again none of our forwards did (he was still 3rd in points). I don't think he's a great player (we tend to overplay our hand with regard our Brits a bit), but unless he wants to chance his arm abroad, which may be good for him, then we shouldn't be letting him go anywhere else over here. Seems to have hit his ceiling at about 40-60 points a season, not to be sniffed at but I'd not be expecting him to pile on the points in future at this stage. I'm not sure that's down to any lack of effort, perhaps just his level of ability.
I'll be very surprised if Boxill isn't on the roster next season.

I wouldn't be surprised if Lacho decided to move abroad and see what he could do. He's doing well at EIHL level but I'd be happy to see him push himself. He's coming into prime age to do so.
I don't think anyone would argue that it could do any harm for him - I'm struggling to think of a Brit who's been abroad and not come back far better...(could argue Dowd)? Farmer didn't have a great time in the U.S, neither did Myers before him. Clarke struggled with injury in Italy and I don't think Swindlehurst made a regular season game. However, they all came back stronger players!

Iginla said that Berube only escaped being gassed during the season because of all the injuries we had. On that basis you wouldn't have thought that Corey would be looking to sign him up again.

Berube isn't as bad as people are making out (you don't become captain of your team at 25 by not being very good), did he make mistakes? Sure he did. But he didn't make anymore than Landry did, the problem is you only notice the mistake when it gets punished.
There was one game (can't for the life of me remember who it was against) were Cohen turned the puck over 4 or 5 times and K-wall bailed him out each time then Berube made 1 mistake in the entire game and it goes in, which one do you remember?
If paired with someone who can move the puck (Steve Lee, Chris Murray, Eric Werner, Jordan Fox etc) there wouldn't be the turnover issues because he wouldn't have to be the one trying to move the puck (something which Landry was not exactly adept at) which is the main area he struggled in but positionally he was excellent, very rarely got beaten for speed and deflected numerous pucks up and out of play. You can never rule out the effect moving to the bigger ice has as well as some players never experience this before they get here, players like Wild flourish with it because his game is well suited to it whereas others like Berube struggle (although he should have adapted better over the course of the season).
There's also this issue of him not being the 'tough guy' he was billed as, but is that his fault? No. That lies squarley at the feet of Bruce for recommending him that way, Corey/Strachs for not researching thoroughly (1 look at Elite Prospects and you can see how low his PIM's are) and GM for typing it onto the website.
There's always more to it that 'oh this guy is rubbish' you just have to look a little further.
