Ling was arrested so he'd have to disclose that to the government if he is coming to us. Probably more chance of getting in to the UK if you're from Syria though.
Anyway, it'd be great to see Ling come back, would probably fit quite well amongst the import forwards we currently have, would probably mean dropping Mosey to D again though and then Oakford getting a couple minutes of ice time per game (if that).

I would be really surprised and I am also concerned that he is 40 years old. Sometimes things are better left in the past, could come back and be a shadow of the player that he was... Time will tell I guess. Also Elite Prospects has him down as retired.

This guy could be 50 and still rack up the points in this league, his hockey brain is too good, can t say hes lost speed... he never had any anyway ! Hes clearly been talking to Corey this summer as he recommended us Macmillan, I do believe this rumour has legs....

I was dead against this a few weeks ago but thinking about it now I like it.
He won't bag 96 points like last time but will probably go a point per game given his age but we don't need 96 points from him.
We have our top forwards pretty much and as long as we don't over pay for Ling we could still afford a decent defencemen to allow Mosey to stay off the blue line. This is assuming Peckham freed up mega money.
He's a NHL, KHL, Euro experienced player who can really bring it to the ice, our youngsters would benefit and probably some of the prime age guys.
Returning heroes often can be a let down but as long as expectations are kept in check I think this will work.
Ling could be the EIHL equivalent of Jagr.

For those saying he's potentially lost his legs he never used them before!
He got an AHL call up only last season, they're kinda fast in that league you know.... Ling is a Teddy Sheringham type, he has a picture in his mind of everything around him.
Class player, will be great if we can get him. Big if imo.

With Moran and Kolnik already on the roster as playmakers and both of those no spring chickens,I can't see Ling returning.
Wouldn't be disappointed if he did,but I would rather see a sniper in the Doucet mould.

Wouldn't be disappointed if he did,but I would rather see a sniper in the Doucet mould. That's kind of my thinking as well. An out-and-out goalscorer, a total sniper, a selfish puck-hogging type if necessary as long as he scores and scores... that would be the ideal final piece of the puzzle. We appear to have every other angle covered.. a strong D, plenty of hitting, playmaking, face-off winning... but you can never have too much in the way of goalscoring (as long as the other areas are covered, of course - and it appears that they are).

Any name, you old tease? Nope! I haven't been given one. Just looking about to try and work out who it could be. I can't find any links from Cam, Juraj or Brad from the last few years that would fit the bill. If true I'm glad that we have moved to replace Peckham eventually. When we get the new guy, plus Waugh, plus Ling and Farmer fit we should be cooking on gas!

If Panthers don't finish in top 2 in the league, final in CC and get to the playoffs and win at least 1 of the later I'll be disappointed, with the adition Ling and a new D-man makes Panthers the best roaster in the league with real depth, should be a repeat of the 12/13 season

My betting is that *if* they do sign a D it will be a visa free Euro player.
