Any name, you old tease? Nope! I haven't been given one. Just looking about to try and work out who it could be. I can't find any links from Cam, Juraj or Brad from the last few years that would fit the bill. If true I'm glad that we have moved to replace Peckham eventually. When we get the new guy, plus Waugh, plus Ling and Farmer fit we should be cooking on gas! Current free agent and previous EIHL experience:- www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=19308Would be a great pick-up, really rated this guy at Braehead.

If this is happening would we want the guy coming in to be and offensive d man or a tough stay at home d man? If assume that if we're replacing Peckham it would be like for like and the guy coming in will play a tough hard hitting game

Remember this guy when he played for Newcastle - fought Penner and Lepine in the same game! Not at the same time obviously

Having seen how the league has been going I think we would benefit more from a Dman that can quarterback the powerplay than a tough guy.

The one thing I don't get is Panthers bring in Wiedergut as short term extra D-man for cover, then he goes home injured, Waugh gets hit in the ribs and is out for couple of months and they don't bring in a replacement, it's bemusing to say the least.

I have a feeling they thought that Ling wasn't going to be coming over after all and signed Wiedergut as an emergency

It's something I've said before but...I'm not sure why folks are (still) seemingly obsessed with having a 'tough guy' d-man, even more so now Panthers are looking to play four line hockey. It's just about the worst position to have a tough guy playing in and if folks don't understand why they can't really understand hockey too well. Why do folks think that the vast majority of tough guys play on the wing, usually forth line?

I have to disagree, he did a job in the NHL for years fighting guys of all sizes. I'd like to see a hard hitting D man come in because we've got a good power play unit just a pity it doesn't work on road games

When we played Devils and other strong teams when Janssen wasn't on the ice we were getting pushed of the puck for fun, and Their first goal in our rink this year was because they pushed us of the puck. I would love to have a player that could quarter back the power play but before Waugh got injured he was on one line and dimmen was on the other. Just I think it wouldn't hurt us to have more power in defence. Jon Landry would be perfect because he is a great offensive d-man and isn't shy of backing down in the physical play like board plays and little body checks to knock them off the puck.

It's a shame Schmidt doesn't hit like Beckett did or he would have been great

What in saying is that our power play works at home so it's just a case of getting it to click on road games and with Ling coming in that will only improve and I'd like a hard hitting D man to come in so it just makes players think more when even teeing the zone, grand slam year we had Lepine and Beckett why not have Waugh and another this year?

I see your point. Just checking you had considered Waugh. As long as they can play as well you can sign as many hitters as you want for me. I love those kinda guys. Steve Simoes destroying Jason Hewitt still a favourite memory.

Not forgetting of course that there are many, many 'anti-Panthers' posters on that website, led by O'Neill the Giant. Looks like Lepine 'lost' a fight to Tyson Marsh by falling over on a discarded glove! Joke website but I get the point you're making and Lepine clearly didn't lose all (or most) of his fights in his last year here.
