What's this thread called? I think it's the 'Sheffield have signed a good player, let's question their finances thread' (aka sour grapes). Regards Doom Come on Doom. Most have been quite complimentary. It's really just 1 or 2.

OK...apologies.....there are one or two who have shown sour grapes......I guess we've all got them. I'm chuffed Roy has returned and I'm hoping we'll also keep Forney, but if we do re-sign the majority of last seasons squad, it's going to make the summer quite boring. There's something far more exciting about signing players you've never heard of before and then heading to Elite Prospects to look at their stats.....I'm guessing there will be quite a few changes in Nottingham next season. Regards Doom

Regards Doom My missus talks to forney every week and basically he will return if Adams wants him. So expect him back. Knew Roy had signed a week ago. Quality player he likes to stay at clubs for more than a season pretty much the loyal type

Must be a tough gig coaching the Caps, done well in his time there (best team in Scotland in the Grand Slam year, whatever the conference standing says). Good luck to him.

Good signing for Coventry to get Stewart on a 2 year deal, solid base to build from.

Somewhat worry some that not much coming out of the Panthers camp?
Tonight's Nott's TV did not look good for Corey to return.

We need to get the brits sorted, but import-wise how often have I heard we sign too early and it costs £££'s in doing so.

Do worry about who we'd get if Corey went Adey might be nice but no guarantee might get a total loser like Thommo
A new coach to the league is gonna take a couple of seasons to get used to it, or a player used to the league is gonna take a few seasons getting used to coaching.
Corey has won more stuff than he has lost and seems to have made some decent calls even when things haven't gone well people on here calling for Westgarth and Boi and we should have signed them and look how they turned out
Ain't saying Corey is perfect not by a long shot that's why he coaches here and not NHL but he does love Nottingham and we could do a whole lot worse look at the rest of the league for examples

Also think it's not really a problem if players are signed before the coach. In NA doesn't the GM sign all the players and coach's job is just to coach them? And in football, a new manager doesn't start with a blank canvas - they just inherit the players they're given. And at least in UK hockey you can pretty much sack somebody at 2 weeks notice. I don't think it's a problem at all for GM to be signing people - I'd probably prefer him to sign them than Corey to be honest given Corey's recruitment over the last few years.

Id agree if our GM was someone like Todd Kelman, not Gary I'm afraid

How do you know GM has not signed players? For all we know Neilson might have signed the good ones, and GM the bad ones. Plenty to suggest that GM has previously been involved.

I'm pretty confident that if GM had signed the team he'd have made it more entertaining. I remember hearing stories of GM being behind Nieckar re-signing to get the fans in. I'd be very surprised if GM was pushing for Jacina to be re-signed and there be no toughness or entertainers in the team. I reckoned this season was GM and Black saying to Corey he could sign whatever he thought would win - forget entertainment, forget tough guys. He didn't win.

GM was certainly behind Craighead returning for a second season, because nobody else on the team wanted him.....look how that turned out !

Corey always says players have been on his radar for ages........the problem is,we always get them three or four years too late !
It's so predictable.we could all write the press release for them !!!

I'm surprised the question has not been raised at fans evenings with the club - 'Who targets / identifies & signs the players' ? surely a straight question deserves a straight answer.
