Looking at the stats its clear our goalscoring and general creativity was very poor this year, compare Roy with 95 points to our top scorer Lawrence with over 30 less!!! But I feel like our major problem was our D. As a team I think we looked disjointed a lot but the major thing was a lack of composure, silly giveaways poor passing, naive in attack at times with no creativity (not something i've come to expect from a Neilson team). It's not really good enough if we have any aspirations of winning the league, challenge cups and playoffs are nice but to me its all about the league, and with everything we're told about having the best attendances, fans, facilities, having stability I feel like the standard of players we're bringing in isn't up to scratch. I do concede that we have had a very unsettled side with injuries to key guys like Wild and Higgins who could have put up a lot of points, but this is professional sport and we are supposedly a professional team and should be as equipped as anyone in the league to deal with it. Really glad we're not in europe next year.
So rant over lets look to next yaer, here's who I'd keep/what I'd like:
All the brits! - good brits are hard to come by and less replaceable, and there is no limit on them, given what happened this year we need bodies on the bench. I'd maybe ditch Green in favour of a younger up n comer to develop, a certain Sam Gospel springs to mind
On D Schmidt and Berube didn't cut it for me, schmidt was slow and I swear Berube coughed the puck up in our zone EVERY time i saw him play. I'd like Wild and Mosey to stay definitely but I'd replace schmidt and berube and could take or leave Landry or Cohen, I'd like a big no nonsense D in the Lepine mould to fill at least one of those gaps.
The forwards is a hard choice, I think I'd let Graham go and try and replace him with a quality playmaker to pair with Doucet, I'd also replace Parent even though i like him, simply because i think we could get someone who does the physical stuff he does but puts up more points, in the Salters mould

Benedict was too on the Saturday, sat with his brother i think. Greener was between boxes on both days too, Boxill made an appearance in the box with Corey, Strax, Moran and Neil Black too.

Not sure we can read to much into who was and was not attending the matches. When fans where hoping they'd return, Mosey was the only one saying he wants to come back which confirms the Post article on Saturday.
Yet with the coaching question out there, how do we sign anyone at this stage?
Found it strange some players were invited upstairs and not others?
Anyone have a chance to chat with the player's in block 8.
These next couple of week's will tell a good tail for next season.

I sat behind the player Saturday and they adopted the party line of 'see what happens' in regards to coming back. What was interesting you could see some were hurting more than others with regards to not playing.

My friend went over for an autograph and they were all rather subdued. I'm sure they have a pecking order of signing. Last year it was May before announcements were shared.
1. Sign a coach 2. Sign the Britt's 3. Sign Dual's 4. Sign Imports
Just guessing on this process.
So when will expect to hear about next years coaching selection?
This is what frustrates fans, especially us season ticket holders.
Not even an, "we are talking with Corey" or anything. Maybe Nott's TV tonight?
I feel NB would not like this as his Clan team seem to communicate much better.

Full focus is on the 1-2-3 sale (which features way more 2s and 3s than 1s but never mind), we won't hear anything til that's done with at the very earliest. Could be a while yet.

I'd be gutted if we didn't re-sign Doucet, Wild and Mosey.

Someone has stated that Wild has retired. You what! Is this some sort of retirement home for hockey players in Notts.. when are we going to sign players in the primes of their careers like Sheffield have done with Roy, Forney and Fretter !

Do you actually know how old any of these players are? Roy and Fretter are older than Wild, Fretter over five years older. Just another off the hip post to have a dig at Panthers.

My point stands panthers sign players at either back end of their careers... injured and washed up... or players no other team wants..
Can't wait to see this year's collection and if GM signs them.... absolute cheap as hell

As for the likes of Wild, Doucet, Kowalski, Landry, Mosey from the imports we had this season, I am sure the majority of clubs would want them, not had injury hit careers or washed up. And as for the excitement behind this coming seasons roster, perhaps you should just leave Panthers to their own devices, as its very clear that in your eyes they can do no right. Perhaps you should go and watch Steelers with your other half.

The massive decline since the Grand Slam season has made many of the 'middle of the road' fans (those somewhere in between the happy clappers and the cynics) feel short changed. The quality of the signings for next season and the subsequent on-ice product has got to be the very, very best that the Panthers org can manage next season. Fans will vote with their feet otherwise. A massive season coming up I feel. Trophyless, gutless, dull, boring, mid-table - just won't do.

This season I (along with my partner and 2 kids), have probably been to less than half the home games. Next season will start with an intent to attend 20+ home games, but it will all depend on what is put before me as to whether we turn out, or simply catch the twitter updates.

Pidge is right saying Panthers make it very easy to think that way. I don't think even the most avid happy clapper Panthers fan can honestly say the last two years have been anything other than underwhelming and disappointing.
Big season next year.....if Panthers get it wrong again the fans aren't going to be happy.

Looking at the roster so far I reckon we have 2nd line right shot D (Steve Lee) and 3rd line right shot D (Brian Schmidt). So we would need 1 more right shot for 1st line.
I would take Chris Murray back if he is available. Quite mean and tough, V good on powerplay and decent defensively.
Thoughts?
