If Panthers are Serious about winning it all, and throw everything at it including the Kitchen sink, then no import should be retained. All of them are replaceable with better players. At what cost? that is the $64,000 question. You risk massive upheaval and disruption, for possibly a bunch of players here only to cash a cheque.
What Panthers need more than an enforcer, more than a goal scorer, more than anything else is a group of players who give a crap. We all have seen Lawrence, when he wants, he is an awesome force in this league. Trouble is you get to see him 1 in 5 games if your lucky, and then its for 5 minutes. We have had players before who fill this mould, if they sorted there attitude they wouldn't be in this league. IF it had to be a player from this league, Keefe would be my main target. Prising him from Belfast would take more than money, he would have to fall out with management. If he did, then I suspect that Kelman would had first dibs down in Cardiff.
There in lies the problem, The players who fight for every second of ice time, fight for every puck, block every shot they can; are not the players who jump ship for a pay day (I'm sure someone will throw up an example who did) We need to find one for us. Not a player who has got 2 years left playing. a young player that a team ethic can be built around.

What you mean Warren is a player like Roy in Sheffield, that's what we need,a player who is still the right side of 30,who has contacts and in time will bring other players, who will be a rock and a leader for several years. Sheffield find them, just like they did with Steve Munn before Roy and Dion Darling before that.
My problem is our recruiting,I would hazard a guess we would have been offered Roy,he came from Florida Everblades a team Corey has good contacts with so surely we knew about him being available. Why didn't we get him is anybody's guess, same with Fretter, where was our guy like him this year, the quality playmaker with the cv to match, the guy in the Ling mould ?
Whichever way you look it's been very poor, unbelievably poor at Panthers for two years !!

it may come down to dollars and the Squeelers offered more same as with Roy resigning this week. Heard he is making a significant weekly sum which will erode that small profit they supposedly made.

Yes I agree Warren but I don't think thats achievable for next season, Panthers have David Clarke (hopefully) then gives them time try to mould someone into a Keefe like(the heartbeat of Giants) captain. Import player for next season Doucet, Wild is another and maybe Landry because at 23yrs and he as played in the AHL, and Conway( 27yrs) back to replace K-wall. Kyle Flemington he's only 23 yrs and look like a duel nationality www.eliteprospects.com/player.php?player=37714

Conway ? Bloody hell if we replace Kwall I hope it's with somebody significantly better than him ! I don't know why they don't just announce Neilson has gone and let the new wheels start rolling.

I don't know why they don't just announce Neilson has gone and let the new wheels start rolling. Because he's not going anywhere? Don't you think this would've been announced at either the last game of the season, or more likely the sponsors awards night?

You've heard nothing. As always your talk on here is just plain rubbish. Still waiting for your proof from the other thread....

His new team couldn't honour his contract and we dropped lucky. Not sure you can blame Corey for that one.

Reckon someone has started their playoff party early with that suggestion....

So your saying then Forney that Roy's agent jumped on the phone to only Steelers and said "hey I have a guy here might want to come to England" and didn't test the water elsewhere in the EIHL......i think not ? That's not how it happens,a good on the ball, switched on coach will have his ear to the ground daily and would or should have known about Roy becoming available, especially a player where there are previous connections. Corey unfortunately is crap at recruiting, wastes far too much budget on average players instead of difference makers and now it's finally come back to bite him !

No chance the Abbot twins would be affordable to be honest, they ll probably go to Germany or Switzerland, I doubt theyd even be on panthers radar. Kalus, very good when he wanted to be a euro version of Lawrence!

Kalus was a decent player.....but he just would not follow the system and did his own thing all the time. That's why they didn't re sign him.

In case anyone's interested, Panthers' approximate plus minus figures for the season were
Schmidt +6, Lachowicz +10, Mosey +5, Berube +12, Parent 0, Lawrence +16, Farmer +13, Graham -5, Landry +23, Benedict -3, Oakford -2, Jacina +3, Lee +12, Doucet +7, Cohen -1, Wild +6, Higgins 0, Boxill +11, Robinson +4, Clarke +6, Cownie +1, Betteridge -2
Missing about four games and sometimes it was impossible to see from highlights exactly who was on the ice for the goal.

How can almost everyone be positive our goal difference was only plus 25.

If it were based on that goal difference, the team plus/minus would be 25 x 5 =125 in total as you usually have five outskaters on the ice for a goal. You don't include power goals scored or conceded though but the actual total is +122 on those figures

From those stats it shows just how good Landry was!
