I have seen some fantastic games at the NIC this season - and that is where the problems lies - they were so inconsistent - you expect them to win - they lose you expect them to lose they win - like last year we lost the most important player (KWall) and that did not help

As I posted on my own social media, only 2 teams in European ice hockey this season gave up their home advantage in the Play-Offs (Nottingham Panthers & Braehead Clan) and both have been put out by 1 goal. Would it have made a difference? Will never know, and that's part of the problem!

At least now Discoray you are beginning to realise what it's like being a fan of a team who's owners don't give a toss about winning......only crowds and money !!!!!!!!

The owners hold the purse strings but it is down to the coach and players to provide the goods - we had too many players who could not give a damn, and the coach could not provide the motivation - if a player does not care then no amount of coaching will change him - half the team should have gone in November - As regards Breahead they had the players and should have won everything but just what went wrong who knows but there was never any call to get rid of their players so where does the owner come into it - like most owners they are in the business to make money, they are not a charity, if you do not like them making money then don't give them any - go and watch football instead, they are good at throwing good money after bad - everyone knows that certain people on this forum have an agenda with Mr Black - but think if the alternatives would be any better

Mr Black does not spend what a team of Panthers size could or should....happy to keep the status quo and keep the peace by not blowing the others away.
As for Neilson, have you ever known of a coach who thinks it isn't his job to motivate players.....because that's what Neilson thinks !!!!!!!!!

I doubt it was the coaches choice. That's GM or NB. So they are here to make money, but a succesful team puts more bums on seats in the long run.

I do think not using the option to play second at home, if possible, is pretty stupid. Why we do it, I suppose we can all have a pretty good guess at, who makes the decision to do it is maybe less clear. Like TBP, I don't have a problem with Black, but I hope he's got a problem with the return he's getting on the money we spend. This isn't just one bad season, we were pretty rubbish last season too. We had one great night against Belfast, but that papered over many cracks. The average style of hockey was there last season, the poor recruitment, back to our usual inability to maintain a league challenge.
We'll see what happens, but if they just go business as usual, again, then I think I'll have come around to Iginla's view of the way the organisation is being run.

For all the stick Stewart has had off Panthers fans this season, he has just had a superb weekend against us. Credit where it is due.

Well in his previous stint behind Panthers bench I seem to remember Paul Adey taking a similar attitude towards motivation and he is the man supposedly being lined up as our next coach and being seen as the messiah by many fans.

Indeed credit where credit is due,Stewart is a great goalie.
But quality forwards don't keep giving the goalie a chance to save again and again....the problem was,we didn't have any quality forwards apart from Doucet. Look where most of our goals came from lately....Doucet !

Iginla is right. A combination of bad finishing and poor goaltending has cost us this tie.
We shoot from miles out because we haven't the ability to string two passes together in order to get near any goal. All we have had this season is a pretty poor plan A & when that didn't work, we were screwed. No physical presence meant we couldn't change the momentum of any game.
Doucet, Wild, Mosey & a fit K Wall are the only players worth trying to sign next year, the Brits of course will be back, not that you'd want them all.
Fox for player coach? Fresh ideas is what's needed but knowing these bozos it will probably be Rick.

Spot on lepine28.
Remember when Ling was here, how many times did the spare man at the back post (Graham) put that killer pass away behind the goalie. Would even Stewart have saved all those.....No not many.
How many of that type of goal did we score this year ? I am struggling to remember more than about two, because we didn't have anybody who could find that killer pass and all we were interested in was shooting from in front or the one timer from Lawrence.

In the 14 years I have been watching neilson is head and shoulders above any other coach we've had.
Mike Ellis - correct me but I'm sure we never got over .500 over a weekends games Paul adey - the one thing I remember was dump and chase. ( not saying he hasn't improved but can only go on last stint he was us
In my view the hockey we have played over the neilson era has been good and a massive improvement based on those above....Christ we don't win the trophies we have over the last number of years by luck - give him/the organisation some credit.
We have had years of massive highs and every trophy we have won makes the fall when we eventually lose out seem massive - let's not over react, we have had massive injuries this year and dread to think what those numbers add up to.
I for one would have him back.
Roll on next season and have a nice summer all.

Lacho has struggled this season without the likes of Francis to support him. It is hard to judge the Brits as they have been playing with mediocre, at best imports, bar a few..... I could see this team was in trouble back in the Autumn and nothing was done, not only were we struggling but the performances on the ice were dire!

I've just listened to the radio interview Corey gave after tonight's game. He feels that over the two games we "played like champions". I was going to say I can't believe he said that, but sadly I think of late he's become a bit dilusional with regard to the output of these players.
Yeah he's there to stick up for the guys, but I'm worried that he's clearly not seeing what the majority of the fans are, and that can't be a good thing. He just seems tired to me tactically, unable to adapt now that most coaches have figured out his plays, and largely blind to the fact that things have clearly been heading this way for a while.
Any team will have spikes of motivation and our base quality of individual players has got us to what we achieved over the past two seasons, however for some reason they've never truly gelled and that's been there to see.
I think Neilsons time saw a steady rise in achievements, peaking at the League winning season, however we've clearly been on the down slope the past two campaigns and Neil Black and GM have a big decision as to whether they think they can afford for that to possibly continue.

Oakford is clearly not good enough at this level & Lacko is going backwards with what's rumoured to be a shocking attitude.
Two years ago our Brits must have been the envy of the league but with Weaver & Meyers gone, Lee not being the same since his injury last season & with Lackos downturn in form we are left with the ever improving Boxill & Farmer, who may as well swap his stick for a scoop.

You keep Farmer,Boxill,Lee,Clarke and Lacho (with a kick up the backside) and send Oakford back to the EPL to be replaced by Swindlehurst. Imports, you keep Doucet,Wild,Landry,Mosey and Benedict (on a reduced wage) and the rest can go.
Then you say goodbye to Mr Neilson and replace him with somebody less arrogant, who is a good motivator, has strong contacts and new tactics !

Plenty of Tragic Drama going on in here , from what i heard we lost out on a red hot NM tonight , as for all the trophies don't ya know Corey had nothing to do with them it was either Strachan or Fox, i get the picture of a corpse that's still warm with the usual vultures waiting to swoop down. Nobody is happy about this season just some of us believe in swings and roundabouts in life. If you cant take the tough times you dont deserve the good times . Simple now i will leave you to your wake I'm guessing that you were not there? Stewart is a very good netminder and there have been a few of those in the league this year but if that's what someone has told you then they are pulling your leg.

Strange thing I noticed again this weekend was the Blaze players in a huddle at the start punching gloves and VERY intense like a real team while about eight of our players huddled around the net while the others skated around in circles in the corners by themselves. Perhaps the Panthers players did all of their "fist pumping" on the coach?
Also noticed the same with the Giants players tonight on Premier too before they even came out onto the ice.
