Shouldn't Steelers have home ice advantage for the second leg due to finishing above Panthers in the group stage? No, when they did the draw, it also decided who the home team was. It appears that you are correct:- <LINK>And it was Fife or Nottingham. Apparently they're all kicking off on StalinTalk about this... perhaps someone should point them at that video? (It does seem like an odd way to decide it all, but hey - this is the EIHL. Logic, common sense... these are just words to them.)

Seth does say Nottingham/Fife will play the 'first leg at home' ... which is not the generally accepted interpretation of being the 'home' team. Chris Ellis is hoping to clear up the confusion today.

Have to say when Seth says "fife or Nottingham and they will play their semi-final first leg at home" I started laughing because you just knew that Panthers would always get the 2nd leg. Don't know why it is, I'm not complaining but we do haha

Had this cleared up now...
Nottingham (or at the time Nottingham or Fife), were first team/s out of the hat, so are the home seed throughout. This applies in the semi v Sheffield - and so Panthers having home leg second is correct.
Also, as the now-decided Panthers-Steelers semi-final was the first one out the hat, one of these teams will be the home team in the final.

It's a proper hissy fit on Steeltalk. People saying they won't attend the games if they don't get the 2nd leg at home.

Just a quick thought regarding Saturday nights results. Didn't David Simms have a go at us for scoring 10 past the Caps stating that it was against the code? What was the score in Edinburgh on Saturday? Deja Vu - so Steelers put 11 past a ridiculously shortbenched Dundee last night in pretty much a dead rubber and still no mention of this 'code' eh DS?

Have to admit.I knew the top draw was for final home team but not that the first of top draw was a homer too.

Looks like Steelers gave their back up netminder some ice time, which must be good for his development. According to the Elite League website he came on for the last 12 minutes when the aggregate score was 14-1. Guess you can never be too sure......

This would be the same short bench that beat Belfast on Sunday! I really don't think any team will take notice of their press officer's views. Do you?

I wasn't having a dig at Dundee for being short benched, or their respective results v Belfast and Sheffield, nor was I having a dig at Sheffield for that matter. You can only beat what it's front of you. To clarify:- DS ran his mouth (shock i know) when Panthers put 10 past Edinburgh a couple of seasons ago. He claimed there was some sort of 'code' whereby you didn't run up double figures in any given game. This previously unheard of code seems to have slipped by Simms' memory bank when his team break it by putting 10 past the opposition. For the record, I think any such code is utter BS no matter who is playing who and in what competition. If DS thinks there is a code then he has to be consistent and fair minded (yeh, right) in his views on it. He clearly isn't. Another shock.

Simmsy seems to have this twisted view of the sport to suit his circumstances. I mean, what sportsman will "take it easy"? They want to win. Last night was a bit embarassing I am told with Dundee hardly trying, so even my quote that they beat Belfast falls a little short of the truth. They tried against them!

I can understand about the point of not wanting to go because it is Sheffield again, but for the fact that it is a CUP semi and I would have thought that was of more excitement and interest....not wanting to go because of an EIHL arrangement is just 'throw dummy out' daft.
