I await panthers response.

Perhaps injury issues and rehabbing there? To go from active NHL to EIHL raises questions. One never get's the real story at these levels. Hope he's not come over as a head pounder?

Great signing obviously but like team says there must be a huge reason why he would go from playing NHL for past few seasons down to EIHL. That's a huge drop in difference.

Former 4th Line enforcer, wouldn't expect too much from him points wise, probably here as muscle. North America are slowly cracking down on Fighting so the need for enforcers is dwindling which is why he's signed in Belfast, that and he'll probably have some sort of Uni deal and ridiculous wage.

(Aimed at the posters before BigLad)
I don't know about that. What about the other so-called "knuckle draggers" who came over during the lock-out. Tom Sestito and Paul Bisonnette both put scored plenty and Sestito gave up half way through. I'd be surprised if Westgarth doesn't do the same.
Maybe he wants to make the move into Europe. The top leagues won't have him straight from the NHL because he played there as an enforcer, but if he comes here and gets 50 - 60 points in 40 games (or whatever's left), it might open doors for him.
This is a great signing to me and as a Steelers fan, one I wish we'd made. Our skill guys need some protection IMO.

He's a fantastic signing, absolute hard nut as well. Also has experience of winning Stanley cup? He may be 4th line enforcer but still going to be very good here.

Tough just got tougher.
A pro hard nut but who will be more than good enough to contribute offensively in this league.

Let's hope then corey does respond to the league getting tougher! I'd like to think we have the same financial power as belfast and would be able to go and get either Mark Fraser, Matt Pelech or Matt Kassian just to make sure that our better players don't get their heads taken off!!

Sometimes you just have to tip your hat and say well done. This is one of those times.

This is giants 12th import and from what I can see they don't have the required dual national. For this season the rule is 11 pure imports plus one dual national, have they or me missed something here ?

I'm fairly certain we have the dual import, cant remember which player but I suspect a few might be eligible. Chev for example has played over here for many seasons, between us and the Blaze, so I'd assume he would qualify. Great signing this, I'm glad Thornton waited for this quality of player to become available.

Elfring & Sandrock are dual nationals... possibly Saurette too.

The thing that annoys me more than anything is that all the other teams' fans seem to be having all the fun. Corey's never been perfect, but his one constant had been giving the fans entertainment, but even that seems to have gone completely out the window this year.
