with the CCfinal dates under dicussion, the home leg is likly to be in Nottingham, according to the website. Hopefuly the away leg in Belfast will be part of the double header but that would mean playing the 2ndleg 2 days befoe our home playoff QF, hardly ideal. Be interesting to see how this works out, surely they won't schedule ANOTHER match in Belfast, especially when so many fans are already going to the double header, which currently are meaningless fixtures.

The 2nd leg should indeed be at home, why should we give that advantage up when it is our choice by virtue of having a better qualifying group record. If Belfast want to play one of the double header games as the first leg that's up to them. Remind me though, was it really only last season that they said the CC would be over and done with early this year, well it certainly isn't.....unless of course your a Steeler then I suppose it is !

You would think that Panthers would want to play the away leg as part of the double header to make use of the support already going, instead of arranging another fixture which only a handful may attend.

I think it will be before the double header. I'm not sure there will be as many fans going to that this year, given that we have not been in the title race for a number of months now.
I'm sure they will also be put into the "non-descript league game category"

the home leg is likly to be in Nottingham You'd hope so We are playing Giants you know. Their choice is to play a one solitary match you know... As regards playing 2nd leg at home...yes. As regards playing a stand alone game (which is the idea of it being another competition surely) yes again. But again I feel it will be IF a date is found separate to engage into more capital as a first option over anything else. YES again.......this competition should have been sorted by now as promised last season.

Looking at the upcoming fixtures for both teams we are both going to struggle fitting this final in. the only possible date in Belfast could be Friday 14th March, other than that we would probably have to move another game to the end of the season or play the 2nd leg after the 22nd March before play off weekend. To say we start this competition at the beginning of the season we should have this done and dusted just after Christmas, enough of the teams have had 1 game weekends at some point and now come the end of the season most are playing 3+ games in 5 days.

I don't see where we are going to fit the home leg (2nd leg) in, unless it is after the POQF. Like I said at the beginning I'm hoping that the 1st leg is on the 21st as part of the double header, but that doesn't give us much choice for the 2nd leg. They might decide to play the 2nd leg after the play off weekend !

Can we not play games mid-week either side of the weekend 15/16 March? Neither team has games then (I've not checked ice availability).
It's silly it goes on so long, but there's just too many games for a 10 team competition.

its all supposed to be sorted out today at the Elite League meeting, and as stated fully expect the 2nd leg to be held in Nottingham. Would be quite amusing though if the Giants won all 4 trophies needed for the Grand Slam at the NIC ;-) Two of them are pictured on the left

I thought it was three trophies for a grand slam? League, challenge cup and play offs. What's the fourth.

There was never going to be a trophy for the conference winners but Belfast decided to go out and buy themselves one and then claim we didn't win the grand slam because we didn't get that trophy. The one that didn't exist

Not strictly true Matt: Original statement, May 28th 2012I don't like the way the conferences are decided, as I was saying before the first set were won, but it is what it is. Fact is we should've got the job done, took our foot off the gas at the end. Of course, should Belfast do it, their short run in the quarterfinals of the CC will invalidate the whole thing anyway so we're OK.

Should this be the case should include the league too...lol......ah, just thought

I was just kidding Spik. If Belfast win league, cup, PO and conference you know we're going to hear about it, and tbh it'll be rather difficult to argue it. That 2nd leg v Hull will be my (one and only) countermeasure

They won't win the playoffs as it has nothing to do with a teams ability. Well, that's what they have said for the last few seasons.

According to Kingdom of the Giants First leg at the Odyssey 21st March, 2nd leg 25th March at NIC. First leg replaces league game scheduled for that night and it will now be played on March 12th. If correct, it means it will be the first CC final that I will not have been able to go to both legs. Now confirmed - Cup Dates
