Whilst the Steelers were certainly a poor team last night, I'm just wondering how much of that was down to a lack on their part and how much of it was down to our players shutting them down? I just wonder, especially looking at the current score at their 'nothing' league game tonight against Cardiff... Sheffield are leading 7-1 at the end of the second. Is that just a backlash against last night's result? I'm not sure you actually shut us down to be fair shaggy. Our woeful finishing in the first 5 minutes was every bit to blame as our, quite frankly, playground defending. If we had been as clinical as you we would have been back in the game before you scored your first goal. If you had really shut us down then Kwall wouldn't have been pulling off blinding save after blinding save early on. Granted after you scored the first goal it all changed, we visibly wilted on the ice. But if we'd have scored a couple with that early pressure, things may have been ever so different. But, it has to be said, for the most part it is probably the worst I can remember watching us play in the NIC. Aside from that first 5 minutes we just stank the place out. No ideas, no creativity, no heart, no desire, no passion, absolutely nothing. The players really should have been embarrassed at the show they put on. Compare that with tonight at the Motorpoint and it was chalk and cheese. We scored some goals and for the first time this season we actually played some creative, free flowing hockey which was complimented with the goals it deserved. Of course, the level of opposition was different but all in all it was nice to see those shackles becoming a little looser. I think sacking Doug was the correct decision but probably should have been made after the 2nd leg so as not cause all the uncertainty we've seen this week. Although saying that, nobody could have know the new player/coach would have gone down like he has after only 1 training session. It will be interesting to see how this team plays out the season now. Good luck in the final by the way.

I keep hearing that Sheffield are "terrible" "awful" and "in disarray". Steeltalk is no better, they are claiming they are the worst side in Steelers history. Have a glance at the league table, see where they are in relation to us. What does that say about our team? Yep, it makes sober reading. We have both been really poor this year. You have lost more games than you have won, when was the last time that happened? Yet, there are still some on both sides, that believe we are both far better than what the league table suggests.......Cloud cuckoo land unfortunately.

Must admit I didn't realise Norton was older (albeit only a bit) than Stevie Lee. Stevie Lee is twice the player as well. He has a shot at Europe next season if interested imo. Wouldn't go as far as twice the player, just been given better opportunities than norton.

Those opportunities make him the better player. He's come on leaps and bounds, the silly mistakes have eradicated. In his darkest days he was never out muscled or looked as lost on occasions.

Yes been to every home game, I'm not disputing the fact that he is a quality player and we are very lucky to have him. Still the odd silly mistake creep in as every player does still no where near finished article IMO.
