I don't live in Notts anymore so can't get to watch Panthers as much as in the past.
But have been to a couple of matches this season. We seemed to have same level of support numbers wise at the Arena.
I keep an eye on the forum for new signings and news etc but it doesn't seem the same as it used to be.
Two match threads this weekend and only 5 pages of comments between them ?
Barely any pre match comments or predictions.
I realise results have not been great but that never stopped people having their say in the past. In fact in the past if we lost a game it would normally result in more comments than when we won.
I get the impression that winning the League after such a long wait has fulfilled a lot of posters and they have moved on to worry about other things than Panthers ?
When we've had disappointing seasons before the interest on here seemed to continue. But this weekend has to be one of quietest match weekends on the forum I can remember in five years plus.

A similar topic was raised about lack of activity on the forum last summer even before this poor season.
I know of a lot of posters who just dont post on here anymore because they don't feel they can have a decent debate anymore, and to quote someone I know finds the cage 'full of idiots' so doesn't bother.
I think the general apathy of many fans is due to a massive comedown from last season, everything now panthers wise seems a bit of a let down and dull.

Personally I think we know that we arent going to get anywhere in the league and its been a long wait for players coming back from injury and new signings jelling. Most of the posts have a "said it all before " flavour.

Thinking back I think I was probably involved in that thread last year as well. I lose track !
When things weren't going well in the past Corey and GM would get a lot of criticism and the forum would be busy as a result.
However, I think having delivered all that they did last season its harder to criticise them when things don't go well this season.
But with match threads of just two and three pages long the apathy really looks like it has set in now.

Apathy has set in for fans same as it has for the players!!

I guess its when apathy stops people attending the matches that it will cause a problem.
We still seem to get new fans in the Arena. You would think some of the new fans would find the forum at some stage.
Or is the forum generally a large group of hard core fans who themselves have gradually lost interest and not been replaced?
I did always get the impression that The Cage was full of fans who really know their ice hockey inside out rather than relative newcomers like I was when I joined.

Twitter and Facebook happened of course but despite the fact that following last year was always going to be hard this year has been a real stinker so far for various reasons.

It's the constant banging on a single drum from some posters that makes me despair. Well, not actually despair, but that's the drift. We should sign every NHL import (well, that's working well for us this year...), sign every Brit on the market, have more fights, have less fights, the ref didn't let them play, the ref didn't call enough, so and so is rubbish, the team aren't bothered, the refs are inconsistent, wasn't it better in the old barn and the ISL? etc etc. There's no actual debate to be had. No positive vibes. Mostly just petty squabbling. With a side order of IKSYD.
Yes, this season has been a metaphorical car crash. But you can't have it all. Where would you put it, for a start?

But in the past when things have gone wrong people seemed to care more and there was more comment on here not less
I took a look back last few years for end of Jan and start of Feb game threads - some years they are missing entirely (perhaps they get moved?)
But for the years where the Game Day threads are still there you can see the following:
2012 - two matches homes and away v Blaze - 12 pages of comments on the matches
2010 - match against Blaze and the stingrays - 11 pages of comments on the matches
2009 - two matches v phoenix - 14 pages of comments on the matches
Like I say this week - two matches - 5 pages of comments in total
We need a boost

Perhaps you should look at the people posting then and now.
We had an element of "fans" who would stab the team in the back given any opportunity, who gradually disappeared when we won the league. Those people ultimately led to a number of regular posters leaving the forum/not posting any more, so perhaps did succeed with their own agendas.
With twitter more readily used, that is where some people will now look/discuss Panthers matters, and also the excellent TCW is a way that people will catch up.

As Shorty says, social media happened, so forums aren't the only way to discuss things anymore, and also the Grand Slam happened. There's no sense of "here we go again" this year when it started to go wrong, people used to get quite worked up by it all, but with past glories still very recent, it bothers you less (or it does me at least*). 2012 - two matches homes and away v Blaze - 12 pages of comments on the matches 2010 - match against Blaze and the stingrays - 11 pages of comments on the matches 2009 - two matches v phoenix - 14 pages of comments on the matches Like I say this week - two matches - 5 pages of comments in total Would depend I'd imagine on when those games were, and what was at stake. This weekend's two defeats haven't really changed anything. We weren't going to win the league before this weekend, and we're not now either. I'd imagine if it goes pear shaped in Sheffield a week on Thursday (or whenever it is) you'll get a decent thread. Ultimately though, the forum is what it is, if people want to use it they will and if they don't... * - Saying that I was still effing and jeffing at that shorthander on Saturday

Think I'd agree with many other posters on here. Once you've won "nearly" all the trophies on offer the year before then this season was always likely to be a let down. Its been the same in Sheffield over the years. I think many people had waited a long time for that league win and now they are satisfied and don't post as much. I'd be willing to bet if you have a couple of trophy less seasons over the next couple of years things will start picking up again. British people get involved more when there is something to complain about, when things are going well they remain silent. I'd also agree with the social media stuff but I personally don't find twitter that great for debate. Not enough room to put your point across effectively and also far too many morons!! Some might say that's ironic coming from me, but hey ho, each to their own.

I'm pretty new here so can't comment on the past but there does seem to be an inevitable gloom about this place. When the Steelers knock us out of the cup it could be amusing.

I'd like to see a few more back posting because the same names appear (me included) too often but the 'interested' are only posting the same count I feel. Think it's just that the 'other' peeps who have dropped off that is highlighting this core.
Obviously it breeds a cut in posts too as people drop off because there is less banter between all.The likelihood of getting a regular poster to respond to the general comments by the throng obviously reduces as less opinion is typed.

Technically it was all the trophies on offer. Such is the 'prestige' of the likely to disappear soon conference titles that Belfast had to pop down to Elizabeth Duke to pick out their own Mickey Mouse trophy post-season. Once again, Panthers won all the trophies on offer.

The biggest thing around here for years was a lack of a League title. Last season killed that conversation dead.

The league it getting boring, too many non event games. Stale. Plus we are getting the same old problems like groundhog day. Ive even got a little tired of saying ' rule book!' Thats how bad its got.
Plus anyone says anything contravertial the boring fans be little them. A few people need to form there own opinions and not what they read in powerplay or on the os.
