Happy new year Steelers. About time we started using the discipline system for our own ends.

Well as Hanson confirmed that Dowd would also have been ejected and in the first period, it shows up Hicks inept officiating, as had the correct calls been made, then more than likely panthers would have won! Panthers should also have asked for a review against Hicks reffing display! Come back Carson.

I'd be interested to see stats on who reffered which games that have had reviews requested from them, appreciate its not 100% reflective but if one or two refs are constantly missing things (Hicks!... Who also see's things that dont happen), then may be we (The league) could start looking to improve the refs.

Looks like my decision to walk out during the third period, due to Hicks' inept refereeing display, was justified.

Ridiculous. Just shows what an absolute fart of a ref Hicks is. According to the report on the Panthers OS Kohn cross checked Farmer five times. Hicks managed to miss all of them!
Not one but two Steelers should've been thrown out.
Mike O'Connor said Hicks should never ref another Panthers match. Be interesting to hear what he has to say now. Seems like the standard of officiating is in terminal decline. Not good.

So you ridiculed Fife for using the system/processes in place, but now that the Panthers have used it twice in the past few weeks, it's now Ok? These things are there for a reason, not using them doesn't make a club any better than any other club. Happy New Year all

If the refs did the job on the night properly we wouldnt be in this situation. Loads of people round me saw the Dowd and the Kohn incident, how 3 officials miss it is beyond me.

Baldwin then slapped Kalus in the head right in front of Hicks. No call.

There are two problems with Hicks.
Firstly, he's actually being affected by what that O'Connor chap said, which should never happen (and obviously O'Connor saying it in the first place would have been against social media/communications policy in a proper league).
Secondly, Hicks is now so unfit that he can't keep up with play, which is causing some serious problems. Aside from his obvious bias recently, he's now missing loads simply because he's not close enough to see it.

A couple for starters; thecageforum.proboards.com/thread/15448/billy-bagron-banned-4-matchesthecageforum.proboards.com/thread/15390/harvey-bannedAs you say, if the ref's picked these plays up in the first place, there would be no need for the referral's.

Happy new year Steelers. About time we started using the discipline system for our own ends. think this is now either the 2nd or 3rd time you have asked for a review, and been successful on all of them

Claret if it is 100% successful doesnt that tell you that the club only pick fights they can win?
As for disciplinary action as mentioned several times before it would be best to take this out of the clubs hands but then it is placed in the hands of the committee (Hanson?) with the obvious bias there? Personally imho all refs make mistakes and most of the time with most of the refs it isnt game changing(although without kohn and dowd i doubt steelers would have won), therefore i think these "mistakes" as long as they arent dangerous ie injuring players should be chalked up to what happens in games and left for the players to sort it in their own way....

Perfect example of how the review system works. Farmer's face at the time was a picture, almost as if he was saying "You did see that, didn't you?!"
Referee training is the one area where the EIHL should be graded "poor", I'd say. Quite how we progress it is another matter completely. Coaches and players are very good at slating refs here but a little recalcitrant at coming up with ideas to improve them, it seems.

You cannot cross check somebody to the head/face and expect to get away with it,Kohn deserves his ban.
However,Steelers are their own worst enemy, had they not broken the agreement previously then Panthers wouldn't have asked for a review on this one !
