You want us to ban our own imports now? Wow! Amazing Not like any company has ever suspended it's own staff eh? It was a ludicrous thing to do, very unprofessional. If we're in a position to be able to afford it, he ought to face further punishment.

Motto is: hockey has gone soft. I'd be more worried about your own club mate, they're full strength woeful Woeful enough to beat us 5-0. Wake up and smell the coffee. I think the "woeful" was in reference to a Joesteeler's comment and not about Cardiff, I could be wrong though. For what it's worth, it deserved a ban for a calculated action.

definitely did not deserve a three game ban for that. Davies had his head down, the momentum Jensen carried in to the hit is the reason he left the ice and it was definitely contact with the shoulder. That ban would not be handed out in the NHL or many other leagues at all, bans are being given out to all teams left, right and centre and it is really starting to ruin the quality of the hockey we have to watch.

Sorry to disagree but bans have been handed out in the NHL for hits just like that one. I think (but havent checked) that Raffi Torres got a ban for one very similar.
It was poor. The Devils player didnt have his head down and Jenson clearly jumped into the hit on purpose.
We would be screaming for a ban if roles were reversed

We would be screaming for a ban if roles were reversed I think he was definitely too busy admiring his pass which made it worse (he may have been able to avoid the hit if he was looking), the only thing to me that makes it worthy of a ban is the fact it's fairly late. If the roles were reversed I would want a ban but that doesn't mean it would be the right call. I just enjoy seeing good hits and unfortunately a good hit will always look bad to the opposing team and their fans

And what about when a lot of our fans are calling it a bad hit?

This was clearly a deliberate headshot

And what about when a lot of our fans are calling it a bad hit? well there's a case for either way... I can see why people are saying it's a bad hit and obviously I see what I see. At the end of the day everyone is entitled to their own opinion and this forum allows us to discuss our opinions. I just think it was a bit of a soft call

This was clearly a deliberate headshot agreed, however if it was a deliberate headshot Jensen could have easily made it worse, I think the factors surrounding the incident make the hit look worse than it was. Also, out of curiosity can one foot be on the ice when making a hit or does it have to be both feet?

Let's hope this guy never signs in this league. 3 game ban a go go!
I don't have a problem with bans for bad hits. My problem is with in consistency and who is making the decisions to ask for reviews and why?
As always, I want to watch the best players possible at all times. I want to see big hits and fights as much as I want to see goals.

"Davies had his head down", how big is he if Jensen had to jump up to forearm his head.

I think it's number 5 the mid ice check, reminds me of the hit on Ashley Tait a couple of seasons ago that whoever hit him got banned for. Most of the players getting hit in that video have got their heads down.

Penalty was called as interference on the night.
From where I was sat on Saturday it looked like a mid-ice collision with Jensen and Davies both not seeing each other because of another Panther being in the way. Right call for me.
From seeing the replay from the opposite side, contact looks shoulder to shoulder.
Yet again though we're having to play an import short because another team has cried to the league, yet we don't seem to refer anyone ourselves.
The whole review system is a shambles and it's no wonder fans across the league are miffed.

I freeze framed it at the point of contact. Jenson is off the ground and the Devils players shoulder is significantly below that of Jensen. Therefore it cannot be shoulder to shoulder. The first contact when the video is stopped is with the head. To clarify. Had Jensen not jumped into the hit it would have been a clean shoulder to shoulder check.

Lokking at those hits I am suprised Kronwall gets to play any games! Even with the worst of whatever Shanaban can throw at the league the NHL isn't quite the mincefest of 'ban for result, not the hit' that the EIHL is. This said Jensen clearly jumped into the hit rather than being lifted off his feet by the impact and thus a ban of some sort was right, although once again it takes a team whingeing to the league to do what the league itself should be doing.

Did he jump into the hit though or was he trying to jump around the Devils player to avoid a collision which would've been an interference penalty (as it was)??

Just for info:
To my mind, a clear head shot and long after the puck is gone.
I agree with Tootoo though that the whole referral thing should be taken out of the equation, although I imagine that's to save Moray having to watch/rewatch every game tape tbh.

My opinion is that it was a deliberate and selfish hit by Jensen. The ban is fully deserved and he has let the team and himself down by leaving us short for 3 vital games.

So if that was the other way round we'd be "whingeing"? Or would we be "defending our players"? I wonder...
No, we'd be quite rightly asking the league if they'd like to take a look at a questionable play and decide if any further action is warranted. Which is exactly what Devils did and the right decision has been made, by general consensus. The EIHL doesn't quite have the resources that Brendan Shanahan has at his disposal, I think you'll find, so the League has to rely on being led to incidents by the clubs. I don't have a problem with that at all.
And if it was "ban for result" then Jensen would've played last night, surely? Davies didn't even take a shift off, did he? You ban for the hit, even if no "damage" is done, and the EIHL have got this pretty right, IMHO. Hits to the head have been punished the league over, where warranted. It would take a pretty dumb player to not realise that after bans to Jensen, Hutchins, Harper, Keefe, Harvey and probably some others too that I can't be bothered to trawl through. Five's enough to make the point.
