www.eliteleague.co.uk/date-for-your-diary--p179097Rapid Solicitors Elite League press release The Rapid Solicitors Elite League can confirm that the annual play-off finals weekend will take place at the National Ice Centre in Nottingham on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th April 2013. This year’s play-offs will be the 10th anniversary in the Elite League era since its inception in 2003-04. Rapid Solicitors Elite League spokesperson, Tony Smith, said: “We are only just starting the season and finals weekend may seem a long way off, but behind the scenes plans are already beginning. “We know how highly people value play-off weekend and supporters like to get their hotels and travel booked early, so we wanted to make the announcement as quickly as possible. “We expect to be in a position to put tickets on sale before Christmas for this season’s event and, with it being the 10th anniversary, it is sure to be a very special occasion.” The Rapid Solicitors Elite League champions will be seeded number one for the play-offs, while the second seed will be the winner of the Conference that does not produce the league winner. The remaining six play-off spots will be taken in order from the final Elite League table. In the unlikely event of the league title winner not winning their Conference, the order will be as follows. The number one seed will still be the Elite League winners with the two Conference winners taking seeds two and three (higher rank determined by their league position). Seeds four to eight will then be determined by the Elite League table. Quarter-finals will follow the usual match-ups over two legs with seed one facing eight, two against seven, three versus six and four playing five. Seedings for the semi-final and final will be determined by the original quarter-final ranking, so the highest-placed team left in the competition will be ranked as the highest seed. The Elite League title is played for over 52 games with points taken from all league matches across the season. The Erhardt and Gardiner Conference titles are decided on the 32 games each side plays against the other teams in their Conference.

Well actually no someof us dont value it and would rather have a proper playoff format in stead of a weekend

You will have to go a very long way to find an announcer as impartial as Stef and i am pretty sure he would be hurt if you thought otherwise..
If we are playing tit for tat then my first experience of very biased announcing was my first trip to sheffield, hardly hear the away goals announced and home goals are given more fanfair than a gold medal at the olympics. Didnt think this was allowed in the rules (we have rules i hear you say?) but as most things associated with sheffield they didnt apply to them and encouraged a whole new generation of announcers to do what they want without fear of censor (anyone remember the newcastle fella?). Through all this i still think Stef has maintained an air of professionalism and detachment very rarely seen in ice hockey...

Apparently the league don't mind announcers in Sheffield questioning the parentage of another team/fanbase from centre ice either....

While i'm sat there cursing/muttering or with my head in my hands or swigging some painkilling 'beer' there is Stef politing announcing a GWG or penalty shot loss. Fair play to him, think he does a spot on job personally

Or do you mean Daren "Bavvy" Bavister with his Neil Black connections Which makes him as much Braehead's announcer then eh? Except for the fact he's announced at a Panthers home game but not at a Braehead one

Which makes him as much Braehead's announcer then eh? Except for the fact he's announced at a Panthers home game but not at a Braehead one But you stated the connection was Neil Black, not the fact he has announced at the NIC before. Immutando constitutionis post actum, indeed.

You will have to go a very long way to find an announcer as impartial as Stef and i am pretty sure he would be hurt if you thought otherwise.. His announcements are made without emotion certainly, but that brief pause as he announcers Panthers goalscorer's names (even at Play Off weekend) allows the Panthers fans to do that Panthers specific Surname shouting celebration. Added to which I would have thought however impartial people try to be they can never be truely impartial when your team is playing an opponent.

Immutando constitutionis post actum, indeed. Hence both Neil Black and Bavvy have connection with announcing at Panthers game. Neil Black is your owner, Bavvy has been your announcer as well as annoucer at Neil's other arena based sport, Masters Football. Case Closed.

Fair play to him, think he does a spot on job personally Thus a reason why he is chosen each and every season know doubt.Services to the sport, top marks. As regards this announcement.Had to chuckle, because it follows the realisation that the stats for Gardiner/Erdhart conferences caught us all out ...ie) only going to show THAT conference game stats. Understand it but don't understand why we make everything so confusing. THUS, it follows that the Play-Off quantification is so mind boggling. New persons coming into the sport have enough to contend with, I would have thought, with the game itself.

So you think that fans dont go to the playoffs to have a little fun? If other teams had their own celebrations as long as they were in the bounds of decency i am sure they would be enveloped in the overall package. Also i am pretty sure a) If he does pause it is very brief and b) Stef is told what to do by whoever is in charge whether that is at the playoffs or a regular season gameAdded to which I would have thought however impartial people try to be they can never be truely impartial when your team is playing an opponent. I would challenge anyone that isnt on a windup to say that Stef is not the most impartial announcer currently in the british game

a) he does pause. yes it's only the Panthers that appear to get the chance to have their "own celebration" otherwise they would Play "Woosh" when the Steelers score.
b) I am not on a wind up and he might be the MOST impartial, but never can be IMO Totally impartial.
