tenuous at best... as i said those not on a windup would agree that Stef is probably the best at what he does... might be interesting to gauge the opinions of those not associated with panthers or steelers?....

a) he does pause. yes it's only the Panthers that appear to get the chance to have their "own celebration" otherwise they would Play "Woosh" when the Steelers score. Disagree with that entirely, I've never noticed him pause for our benefit and I think you're doing Stef a disservice, frankly. Obviously we do get an advantage from being at home, that's undeniable, but Stef being on the mic doesn't supply any of it.

Stef does not pause at the playoffs, some, but not all of our fans still shout the players name but there is not pause, I have even commented as such about it at the time to my other half

After the 2nd goal in the last play-off final. Maybe he was distracted at the noise of all the seats being folded up and the rush for the exits from blocks 1-5 behind him

I'll ignore the usual responses from people who just want to cause trouble, and who seem not to be able to follow their own advice. I wasn't having a go at Steph at all, I referred to Bavvy and about his Panthers connections. I merely pointed out that Steph as a self confessed Panthers follower can never be truely impartial for Panthers games, it's an impossibility by that point alone.

Don't get why it matters that stef reads out the stats or not, it makes no difference what so every to what happens on the ice.
Even at panthers games stef just reads out the stats in a professional and clear manner in a pretty much monotone voice (no offence intended haha). He doesn't do any of the announcing to get the fans or players going. Apart from as pointed out the pause between first and surname, which I am pretty sure he doesn't do at the playoff weekend

Your sole purpose on this thread is to cause trouble, and you know it. Please don't insult our intelligence - and try our patience - by then trying to turn that around onto others instead. It's Stef, BTW... if you are going to make irrelevant, childish and borderline trolling points, at least try to get your victim's name right.

Normal service resumes, I reply to a point raised by someone else, then another person says to ignore me but can't do it himself, then mod who doesn't like me chips in with a post where he knows my thoughts better than I do. Anyone would think you were psychic Dave. Oh and I apologise to Stef for calling him Steph by mistake, as I pointed out already it wasn't a dig at him, more an observation. Perhaps Stef can put his hand and his heart as a long term Panthers follower and confirm me wrong that when Panthers play he doesn't wish for them to win.

Whoa whoa whoa
I started this thread to give people info on the playoff weekend dates and tickets. It wasn't intended as a debate as to the issues surronding the playoffs
Glynn, fact is you can moan, squeel, bleat whatever you like about the format - fact is it ain't gonna change. To be honest, your posts are boring the pants off everyone and I think I can safely say only 1% of people who post on here actually care about what you have to say.
Bringing Stef into it is pathetic and I agree with Jono - you're not a victim in any of this. You bought it upon yourself by posting on the thread.
So with all that said - lets move on.
I look forward to the playoffs!

We obviously don't agree on some things but you are saying I can't post on this forum as it doesn't fit the views of the majority, rubbish. Forums are here for people to post opinions and debate. Just because I post does not mean that the same person needs to respond to almost every post with no manners as he does. Stef I'm sure is big enough to decide if he thinks my previously stated view is right or not, maybe people should let him decide.

I'm sure Stef does want his local side to win.He does not have to put any hand on heart.Nothing to defend here.just you plucking out another choice subject here mate. The FACT is he does a fine job and unknowingly makes any errors if ever he does.

“We know how highly people value play-off weekend and supporters like to get their hotels and travel booked early, so we wanted to make the announcement as quickly as possible. Well actually no some of us dont value it and would rather have a proper playoff format in stead of a weekend Not a bit bitter there, eh Jester?... No bitterness here, all the drivel about it being unfair because its held in Notts etc dosent bother me one bit. I would like to see a proper playoff series instead of this thrown together weekend. It says it all when the CC is harder to win than the supposed grand finale`.

And yet though Jester the playoff weekend has the longest history within ice hockey, longer than autumn cup, challenge cup and even the past 2 leagues in fact it has been one of the few constants in the sport. Also it is one that given crowd numbers is very popular with the fans too and yet you want to swap this for an unknown quantity, seems madness to me when there is so much else in the sport that actually does need an overhaul...
Imho what should happen is to actually make the playoffs a more valuable trophy by having a proper playoff series rather than scrap the lot...

Maybe i misunderstood then James, what i "interpreted" rightly or wrongly by his comment was an NHL style playoff best of series which in this country although may be popular with some of the fans is not do-able within the current framework of venues and owners.
What i was proposing was to maintain the current format but instead have a "proper" playoff competiton with 2 groups (based on league positions) which play each other home and away and then the top two FROM EACH GROUP go forward to the playoff finals weekend making it much more difficult to win the trophy...
If Jester was saying this too then i apologise for my misunderstanding...

All your suggestion is doing is reducing "finals wekend" to one game ergo whats the point of having a finals weekend?
