Don't know why anyone would be disappointed or dubious about this signing. Looks a very, very good player.

How can anyone think this is a cheap signing. I havn't seen Galivan play but i suspect based on his stats that hes going to one of our top point scorers next season. lets compare his ECHL points per game against some others who have played in this country shall we... Galivan: 0.80 brendan cook: 0.57 sean McAslan: 0.65 David-Alexandre Beauregard: 0.80 rob Bellamy: 0.38 And hes done this on an apparently low scoring team in that league. Overall im very happy with this. I think 80 points is possible for him next season. although i thnk he is either ryhanen or DAB replacement, as i think rhett gordans replacement will be a defencemen (i hope so anyway) Can't argue with those stats but they don't tell the full story. If he was on a naff line, great, he can clearly put the puck in the net or pass to someone who can, but if he was on one of the top lines it may have inflated his total somewhat. Looks good indeed but there's little way of telling for sure how he will play over here until he's...over here.

All im saying is he has the stats that suggest the ability is there to be a top player in the league. So there's no reason to write him off as a "cheap signing". Put him on a line with Fox and Benedict and i will expect him to do very well. Of course he may go on to be a huge dissapointment or he might exceed my expectations, there no way of knowing.

I believe people thought matt Francis was a cheap signing last year. They also said he'd be first to be cut fromthe team and look how that turned out

I believe people thought matt Francis was a cheap signing last year. They also said he'd be first to be cut fromthe team and look how that turned out I remember that, mainly because I was one of them originally. Glad to have been proved wrong... Francis possesses that rare quality that seems to be even rarer still in 'pedigree' players, the ability to come to a backwater leauge like ours and give it his all every game. If PG has that quality he will be a star for us. Corey has been quite good at fishing out this quality in recent years so put me down for cautiously optimistic too.

We always seem to matched with Belfast when it comes to signing players, and it seems alot of people on here think we never match them financially/quality wise, maybe rightly so, but compare Galivan's stats to Brock McBride's and I think you will agree they are very similar, if not slightly better. We alll know how good McBride was before he departed, so maybe Galivan will be as good as

sorry pressed the wrong button doh, to continue, maybe Galivan will be as good as Corey thinks he is, heres hoping. I am also in the camp that thinks stats don't tell everything, and you have to see a player before forming an opinion,

Yeah reckon he will play 2nd line left wing with Francis and Levers.
Should score above a point a game.

If Corey has been chasing this guy for 3 years then id say he may be onto something. I don t know what people want/expect here ? Some multi AHL gamer ? Would be nice to have a couple of them on the roster. They do come to this league you know....

Owen Bradleys view. "He’s a completely new face to these shores, which I’ve always found to be both exciting and a bit scary. Galivan is a 26-year-old winger coming off three seasons with the Gwinnett Gladiators in the ECHL, where he’s notched up 141 points in 176 games. He’s also had 24 AHL games with Chicago in that time, though the last of those came two years ago. What’s perhaps more promising than that is his reputation as “in the top one per cent of skill guys in the ECHL”, and a prediction that he’ll hit 80 points next season. And the fact he put up better numbers at Gwinnett than a certain Matt Francis, who recommends him highly and says he’ll be a good fit in the locker room. It’s the type of hype we read a lot of, but it’ll still be interesting to see whether it’s a reputation that’s deserved. It’s arguably more important that he gels with the side and preserves the balance that Nottingham managed to have success with last season. Coming over with his fiancé should help with adjusting off the ice too." Sounds promising and we need to see how he shapes up, before making negative comments. I like the comments about his skill level. With Jordan Fox back in the fold, we could see some good entertainment next season. "Panthers didn’t have a problem scoring goals last season, and they didn’t have a problem in net either, so it’s clear the biggest upgrade is needed on defence. That isn’t singling out the defencemen for criticism, because defence starts with the forwards, but Nottingham’s defence is what’s always questioned at the start of every season and there’s a valid reason for that." Of course we also need to improve the defence and signings there are eagerly awaited.

Looks useful. I would love to know how people can come up with made up stats like 'in the top 1 percent of skill guys' becuase that's not from his points total or assists....just hot air - you can't 'have a reputation as...' something that is then scientifically measured - you either are, with facts to prove it, or not!

I asked some Glads fans for views on Galivan and these are the 1st 4 replies.
"Good puck handler and a team player. He will be missed by Glads fans!"
"Great person. Team guy."
"Gali is a great team player. We are really going to miss him here! We wish him the best of luck!"
"Great edition to your team for sure."

Does anyone know if either Fox or Francis were linemates of galivan when they played together.
Just wondering if they have any sort of chemistry together.

Fox has never played with him - Francis is a centre and Galivan a left wing so it could have happened?

Decent enough signing.. He's what you would expect from one of the top EIHL teams..
He's not going to score the goals D.B did but he should put up ok numbers..
