Maybe even a chorus of "Simmsey, where's your team, Simmsey, Simmsey, where's your team?"
I haven't stopped laughing yet, bet Finnerty's really pleased he's already signed half his team back up!

Think its actually Giants vs Hull. usually top seed plays lowest.

Surely if Belfast make it, which they should, then it will be them against Hull and us against Cardiff/Coventry.
I thought top seeded team always played bottom seed.

That is very surprising indeed, the way I assumed it was worked was top gets the lowest seed. How was that one worked out then?

In all sports I've ever watched the seeding doesn't get changed, NBA NHL NCAA competitions, you just have to imagine the whole things a bracket Next weekend cant come fast enough ... I Believe!!!

I have no idea how this rumour started but if you look at any sport teams, players etc are seeded and if the underdog wins they follow the path of that team, player etc. Look at Tennis, do they have another draw after each round and re-seed? Do they do this in the World Cup, Olympics etc etc etc. The answer is no. It would be nuts if the EIHL messed around with the seedings before the finals. Anyway roll on next weekend, and there is one thing guaranteed - everyone in the arena who is not a Panthers supporter is going to be chanting for Hull.

We already knew that everyone else would be cheering whoever we play anyway but thats no going to bother us is it. We just need to carry on like we did last night.

Highest seed versus lowest seed, they work it out each round as the teams go through. For example: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Stanley_Cup_playoffs#Playoff_bracket

Absolutely farcical. How did Panthers get Hull?? Highest seed always meets lowest seed, anyone who remotely follows NHL will know that. It should be Belfast v Hull, Cardiff v Nottingham.
"Its our arena and we'll pick our opponents" Im usually fairly sensible on these forums. But this is too much- makes a mockery of an already ridiculous league

Shut up. That is ridiculous ... The way I see it is Giants got the easiest game to get to the playoffs. That is there reward for winning the league. No way should Giants get the easy route to the final just because they won the league. !
Giants win the league give them the easiest path to the final so they can win that too. - NOT HOW IT WORKS !

I'd rather we sang songs in SUPPORT of our team rather than bashing people that aren't there tbh...

If you check the previous years you should find that this is always how it works at our play offs. It only seems extra noticeable this year because a low ranked team has made it through.

It is how it works. Trying so hard not to openly condemn your pure idiocy. Why should the Panthers get Hull?
EDIT- Not you iginla. It may be the leagues fault, but its bizarre

The playoff conecept has been the same for years. Jeeez people need to relax. This isnt the NHL so we dont need to use these seedings.

My bad about the NHL then, didn't know that myself and I follow the sport haha (definite face palm moment) ... I still just imagine all knockout competitions as a bracket then whoevers in your side of the bracket just continues on until the final, probably not wording that well

It SHOULD be Giants v Hull and Panthers v Devils, but it looks like the seeds are only for the 1/4-finals and then the rest is pre-bracketed: 1v8 4v5 2v7 3v6 By that reckoning though, Hull should be treated as the "home" team vs us on Saturday...

Because that is how it has been for years as someone has already said. Give it a rest.
