And he also states there is a conspiricy theory bewteen some of the clubs to stop us winning the league. I dont know if any of this is true but its definatly worth a read. I don't know if its true either but when you see how cosy things have been between Hull, Coventry and Sheffield this season its an easy accusation to make.

conspiracy theory - Marc's webpage appears to be down.. I did come accross this article from an interview with regarding insurance though: www.prohockeynews.com/hockey/publish/business/Marc_Twaite_-_My_story_in_my_own_words.shtmlI'm not sure that anything is fishy really apart from maybe in Hull.. Just annoying how many games Shuff are winning by the odd goal, and panthers losing by the odd goal.. Shame we can't get our sister club to roll over for us mind......

I knew it!!!!
Thank you Marc.
I surgested pretty much the same thing re: clubs in bed together, rules / governance, player professionalism, drugs teating, treatment of officials, structure, youth development.
Where are the neh slayers now??
Maybe the league has to die again to come back better and stronger.

It's heartbreaking to read about what's happened to Marc in recent weeks. I really thought his new role in Sheffield was the sign of a turn in fortunes for him but also a better managed, truly respectable management ethos at the club. Whether the latter is out of the question is unclear, but it seems strange that Marc was basically asked to sell tickets without any access to players, current sponsors or staff. Can;t really say any more without further facts, but bitterly disappointed.
Ultimately Marc makes the point that i'm frankly sick of making because it's so obvious yet seemingly so difficult to attain - the sport NEEDS an independent governing body NOW. I am less concerned about 'conspiracy theories' and the like which may or may not prevent Panthers winning the league and wholly more concerned with the sport moving forward in a controlled and stable manner.

Didn't know Marc had quit his new role.
Whilst the trio og Hull,Coventry/Sheffield may all be not be lovers of the panthers, i doubt any of them would be throwing matches in any major conspiracy. Ultimately our fete is in our own hands.

He's had a terrible time of it over the last 10 years and Norton Lea/Bob Philips had/have a lot to answer for. But what makes everything he says true whilst everybody else is lying. He has no evidence with regard to anything otherwise it would all be public quicker than you can blink. The Steelers should never have brought him back to the club in the first place. He's a loose cannon and his ramblings are every bit as bad as the rubbish on Hockileaks!! Others clubs making deals to ensure you don't win the league? Complete and utter joke.....and you believe it!! I've heard some excuses in my time, but that takes the biscuit.

I like Marc a lot, always have.
It's a good piece, but should come as no surprise to anyone who knows anything about how hockey is run in this country. It's all decide long before the season starts who is going to do well and who isn't.
Why don't the Panthers kick up more of a stink?, easy why should they, what will winning every game and every trophy do to their coffers?, not a great deal, but to the Steelers et al it means year on survival.
Elliot's right, and we have spoken about this before, the sport in this country is bigger than the likes of Moran, Simms and Thompson and needs some one who wants to take it forward the good of the game not out of some self indulgent power/money trip, it's more important to the thousands of fans out there than the aforementioned will ever know, whatever they might write to their adorning public on Facebook or Twitter.

Anybody who watched the Coventry vs Sheffield game on Sky knows that Twaite is speaking the truth. You can tell in the first few games of the season who the league want to win it - it's a complete joke.

Ultimately our fete is in our own hands. got to agree with that, conspiracy theories aside, if we win our games no setting up of results can stop us winning the league. all a bit suspect and makes me feel sad about the state and bad press our league gets itself into...

Very saddened by this situation having known Marc since his peewee days. A good hard working guy who gave everything including his health for the sport. You really do have to know him which I feel few really do. He has seen a great deal more than most supporters having been on the inside and not having been dished up the BS that most clubs feed to their fan base. There are problems within this sport from top to bottom and from what I read on this website most of the posters realise that and do comment from time to time about their concerns. Best of luck to the guy he deserves and needs it for sure.

Just step back for a while, take your steelers (i believe, can't remember 100% who you support) hat off and look at the league, the way it's run, some of the 'relationships', what the agendas are. then compare this to other professional sports. Then dig a little deeper. This is not just a dig at Steelers or Blaze, it's league wide.

It's your own team's ineptitude and lack of desire to win that costs you the league each year, nothing more.

not refereeing decisions etc then HP7? for example the game were steelers were given points for some very bad decisions against belfast where their players lost it in the end? And that isnt the first time this season either...

I've heard some conspiracy theories in my time, but this one takes the biscuit.
Don't you think it would be a bit difficult to deliberately throw games unless the main people who decide games are in on it......The Players?
Do you you really think that no players would have blown the whistle by now that they were being told to throw games? - Levers, Beauregard, Myers, Zion, Bergin are all players who have played for other EIHL teams, not to mention Blaiser as coach.......Wouldn't they have mentioned this conspiracy theory, as surely they would have to be in on it?
When we (Steelers) comfortably beat Coventry recently there were suggestions that they didn't try just to let us win......Can I throw accusations back the other way after this weekend when they rolled over against you?....Maybe they're just not a very good team.
There's no conspiracy going on except in your heads. Neil Black is arguably the most influential person in the EIHL, I somehow don't think he would sit back and let this happen, especially as he's probably funding half of the teams.
Regards
Doom

Agree Doom. It may be these team have a common dislike/hatred, or whatever, of all things Panthers (though it seems there are 9 clubs in the EIHL on the same wavelength - would love to know why, it can't just be jealousy of our finances) - but conspiracy, no.
