Ultimately our fete is in our own hands. Another money spinner for Panthers? I hope it has tombola and kiss the vicars daughter for a quid stalls Cheers Shorty, thought I'd got away with that one!

I re-joined this forum to debate sensible issues with (mostly) sensible people. I was obviously wrong! After extolling the virtues of your owner for years, you are now saying that he is party (and he would need to be), to a league-wide conspiracy to prevent the Panthers winning the said league. Texpef, look at the video, Legue WAS on side, Finnerty DIDN'T hand pass behind the net. Let it go. What will you say when you win the league? Will the plot have folded? It could even happen this season, unlikely now but I can't see you losing another game to be honest. Your coach has stopped you winning the league, not the league itself! It's not the first time Marc Twaite has been economical with the truth and can say almost anything with impunity. He has admitted mental issues and should concentrate on getting himself sorted, and I hope he does.

Conspiracy theories? You'll all be keeping your coffee locked in your fridge if you're not careful.

That a couple of people actually seem to believe in some sort of conspiracy is laughable.
Paranoia reaching entirely new levels here.
Excellent "evidence" too, of a couple of borderline calls (that turned out to be correct), and that Coventry rolled over to let Sheffield win. The games this weekend were equally as one sided. Perhaps Coventry have changed their minds and now want Nottingham to win so they rolled over and gave them four points. Or perhaps they're just not very good?
Anyone who actually believes this sort of nonesense really does need to grow up a touch.

Finnerty DIDN'T hand pass behind the net. Let it go. Not wishing to get into an argument but Finner actually admitted that he did hand pass it. Full agree with everything else that you have said tho. I think anyone that truly believes these conspiracy theory's seriously needs to see somebody, either that or start wearing tin foil hats.

I do agree with you Doug, these conspiracy theory's are utter nonsense but before you take the morale high ground over the people that are making these suggestions let me just bring you back to last season when when the Panthers were effectively out of the running (again) and they had a tough trip to Cardiff. How many Steelers fans were claiming we would roll over for the Devils? Quite a few on Steeltalk if i remember, it was only Doom that rubbished the idea! Although i don't think there is any kind of scandal taking place, i do think the way Coventry, Hull, and Sheffield shuffle players about between themselves (giving each other first pick if you like) is a little tasteless, although no rules are broken.

Whilst there is an element of truth in some of what Twaite is saying, there seems to be a lot of paranoia in there as well. I wonder if he is just trying to get his name back in the spotlight with the hope of another job offer somewhere.

If any player is willing to roll over for any team , then that player shouldn't be playing the game at all.

People seem to be getting away from the main article here.
Forget conspiracy theories and concentrate on the real story here.
It was a brave decision for Smurf to take going back to Shuff after all that had happened. Unfortunately it hasn't worked out.
I'd like to think someone like him could earn a job within our sport with another organisation. Here's to hoping.

Locking yourself in your office crying your eyes out is not good. I have alot of time for Marc he's had a rough ride of things this last 10 yers but, I think untill he does get this sorted anything he says needs to be taken with a pinch of salt

I think the only people who really know what happened are the Club and Marc, however when you are brought in to do new direct ticket sales then why would you need to be having access to the players and current sponsors.
Judging from me following him on twitter not only would I question how much time he spent on his own website and tweeting, I would also question the suitability of certain posts.
When you are brought in to do sales, then everything is a numbers games, you have to be out there making the sales and getting people on board. Not sat in your office tweeting.
I think there is a ring of the Bob Phillps wickileaks here, personally I think Marc was given a job to do and for whatever reason he was unable to do that job. I think before he contemplates any other job anywhere he really needs help as there are obviously underlying issues.
Regarding his comments, I have to say anyone who thinks that Neil Black would let this happen has obviously never met him!! I know it is easy to use it as an excuse but if anyone actually believes it then the blinkers really are super glued on.
I really hope Marc you get the help you need.

The reason we have not won the league for a while has nothing to do with a conspiracy.
It's because of the curse put on us by the spirits of all those dead bodies we had to dig up to build the Arena.

Oh right. Any ideas on what we could do about that curse? Would signing 4 good import D men to play in front of Kowalski have any effect?

I'm not sure, we could try the ritual slaughter of a white suited native of brum as a human sacrifice as a starting point.

Whilst I agree with some of the comments but we do appear to be drifting into some of the areas that Marc is supposedly occupying. The conspiracy theory is a strong no no re teams rolling over but we have posters commenting about certain officials decisions and supposed closeness to certain clubs and affiliations that border on paranoia as well. You have to just read some of the postings after certain games and wonder. Marc has issues that require addressing and maybe some support in achieving a full recovery from whatever these issues are so that some normality to a very troubled life may be put to rest. There sections within the article that do point to a quite troubled individual but there may also be, amongst the detritus, just a grain of truth that is proving uncomfortable for some at some level within the sport. Collusion between the hierarchy and clubs to throw games is, to me anyway, way off the scale in reality terms but there were other issues mentioned that are worth commenting upon ie drugs for instance. I believe the Panthers have some link with Nottinghamshire Healthcare who are the experts in treating people with mental health problems so I personally would prefer these experts to diagnose and treat if a problem exists? I wish Marc well and in the not too distant future be in and around the ice hockey scene once more, but without the stigma that is sometimes attached to those that may have had the need to seek psychiatric assistance in dealing with their underlying problems.

Having worked with people with mental illnesses over the past few years. This seems to be the start of something horrific for Twaite which could be rectified sooner rather than later end of the day we don't want hear about him being sectioned or self harming I do sincerely hope Marc accepts the help sooner rather than later. Reading the history of M.T its seems the first thing to do is contact the CCCS to help his financial situation, then contact a GP to arrange a for a psychotherapist or councilor to speak to try and assess his mental stability. Even though I do get a buzz from my job, I personally feel genuine sypthaphy for people who have had a good job lived in a house with a family or friends and to end having a support worker to come and visit him.

Just shows how life can suddenly change. This guy needs support as clearly he is/was a well respected and liked guy in the game, he was before my time but the comments here suggest he was popular. Seems the game has abandoned him somewhat. Hope things get better for him, sounds like he deserves better

I also have a background in psychiatry and I agree wholeheartedly with both J-bone and Panthersdave. Abandoned is a situation suffered by many with mental health issues and I sincerely hope that the help he requires is readily available because for many this has not been the case I'm afraid.

I'm not in the least bit religious, but i'd love to see an exorcism on centre ice. Just imagine, we could bring in an extra import exorcist just in case the original one goes home or gets back onto the old altar wine. We could use the experience to experiment with using British holy water (although i suspect it's only getting used because it's taking place in England) and we could even sell tickets to the most fabulous rivalry of all time - good against evil! It'll be fantastic, start it soon and we'll get lights, smoke, loud bangs, funny noises and it'll be over by late January.

Lets get Mike Bishop and Merv Priest back for the puck drop when we next play Steelers, and then drag Simms on to centre ice.

Actually, we could combine this with the 'Team Names' thread... may I present the Nottingham Necromancers! Come out onto the ice in black uniforms with skulls and bones all over them... cheerleaders made up like something out of Shaun Of The Dead... DJ playing "Monster Mash"... never mind the Boxing Day game, Halloween would be THE event! ;D
