I concur. Problem is, we cannot replace him - EPL players arent in his league and most EIHL Brits are anywhere near his quality.

Errr... guys? This is very, very bad news and no mistake... but it's not the end of the world. We do have a lot of other players as well. As much as I'll miss Matt for as long as he's out... there's every chance that others will step up to fill the gap.
I don't know about anyone else, but a couple of bad results and this news aren't enough for me to write off the season yet...

I said at the start of the season, less imports would give brits extra importance, so we should sign another as spare. We were always going to get injuries, we needed a squad.
Come on Panthers whats the plan now?

Its a huge blow to lose Matt Myers, however at least we do still have three full forward lines without any double shifting.
Clarkie,Leves and Lacho are just gonna have to turn it up a notch or two !

I can only send condolences to mat having such a reat start to the season and then this happens keep your head up and hope to see you on the ice soon matt.
We have coped without jeff for the last few games and now we have to try without matt, although for a longer period of time by all accounts.
i agree with shaggy it's too soon to write the season off just yet

Really gutted for Myers, In my opinion he was the best player for us last season and was having an even better season this year. Massive blow.
Just a thought..... Now that Heerema is back (touch wood) would it be worth bringing back Norton and putting levers on a permanent forward line to save levers being used as a back up d-man? I cant think of an epl forward that could fill Myers skates.

Danny Myers was out for what? over a month at the start of the season...
what would the reaction of been had he got injured now? similar to that of matts injury but we started the season without him and we did pretty darn good to be fair.
Yes we will miss him but as we've seen this year there are no individuals..everyone is playing as one unit and with this injury it will make everyone step up their game that little bit more..
Hurry back Matty but rest up and dont come back too soon!!

Does anyone know exactly what Matts injury actually is?

Evening Post states its a hand injury but no mention of exactly what it is, cant see it being anything other than a fracture.
This is a massive blow, i thought Matt was not only our best player this season but also the leagues.
you just cant replace a brit of his quality.

Wonder if, we could somehow get our mit's on someone like Will Weldon and Joe Graham to help out during the injury crisis.

Oh well, there's always next year. Quite a few drama queens on this forum To say that is an insult to the rest of the team surely?

This thread has been annoying me a bit. If I remember correctly a couple of years ago Myers went to America late in the summer leaving us no time to replace him, granted we didnt win the league but it was hardly a disaster. Also we lost Clarke didnt we when he went to Italy, replaced by Mark Richardson who had injury troubles, again hardly a disaster.
As great as Myers has been this season it is a temporary setback, we should still have the quality in the roster to stay in touch with the leaders. You never know a fresh returning Myers could make all the difference in the second half of the season

You'll quickly retract your comments. How about if we lost our best import and didn't replace him for three months. Myers is the SECOND TOP POINT SCORER IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. You can't replace a Brit of that quality at this stage of the season.

It would be nice to see MM being replaced, but you can't pick up Brits of any quality 'off the shelf', never mind one as good as Matty. So the rest of the squad will have to pick up the slack, and as long as CN gets his lines right and we don't get any more injuries, the quality is there.

Which was sort of my point as well, we have coped without our top Brit before, I think we will again - a blow yes, but not the end of the world. And to reply to an earlier comment, we wouldnt go three months without a top import, he would be replaced. Not as easy with the Brits but even without Myers our Brit pack is still up there with the best. Levers is now a valuable Brit (despite what some on here think) and Lacho has developed nicely and contributes good stats. As I say a blow, but by no means a disaster. We will still have 3 solid lines. I wont be using Myers injury as an excuse for failure.

I really don’t see how this affects our aims and ambitions this (or any) season. We are already through in the challenge cup and Matt should / will be back for the play offs. What else features in our ambitions?

But we still have 3 full lines, all of which are of a high enough quality for this injury to not be an excuse for any failure to perform
