At this late stage I can't see why players are still being added.I mean, when the list was drawn up these two, recently added, were not there. What's happened to add them? They should have been on the list already.Or by seasons end, the 3 goalies should have been sorted.Done and dusted?

Please pardon my ignorance on the rules & regulations of International tournament hockey but how many players do we actually take to these? Assuming that the maximum bench is 22 players consisting of 4 lines and 2 netties how big a squad is needed? Will Paul Thompson have to trim this squad to about 28 players or so?
Thanks for any information.

Plenty of kids every bit as good as Lacho (and often better) on the GB junior scene, being left out because which club they play for and their circumstances.

There's a couple of the lads dotted around various teams who maybe should be on a look in. Likes of Lundin at Guildford, Bowie at the caps, there's probably others whose names escape me for now but they are out there. If you have a look through the GB junior tournament stats from the years Lacho has done it, Bowie is normally up there as one of the best british players. Sadly I think because of the Caps having had such a stinker of a season he's been overlooked. I'm not saying any of them are quite on a par with the best of the GB senior team, but I know there's the potential there for them to be that good or better, and sadly I think it's been overlooked for one reason or another.

But with 'every bit as good' and 'potential' mentioned, I can only assume that they are 'about there' then.So why are they being left out? I am unaware of them and have to bow to your knowledge regards these fellows but can only assume also that Lacho's experiance and such goes for him. If their not 'quite on par', maybe next year as we say here in Nottingham.

Ben Bowns is a good one, it'll be interesting to see if any EIHL teams will be brave enough to give him a shot in the next couple of years

As neilson is now a GB player, in the league does he count as a brit ?. Because IF he comes back next season that would effectively give us 11 imports. .. Or wouldn't it ?

Don't you just love it when your point is backed up almost on demand.
Only 10 imports next season . Bla Bla youth development Bla Bla Bla Another Canadian in the GB squad. Another young Brit misses out.
Utter Baloney!
Get rid of the import limit and fill the GB squad with Ex-Canadians.

Thanks anyway ftm It's all to do with where you are trained, rather than the country you were born in/represent as to whether you are an import or not. I don't know what would happen if a kid was born in England and was trained in New York. No idea, but guess he would be an import?

I don't know what would happen if a kid was born in England and was trained in New York. No idea, but guess he would be an import? He would be an import unless he had played at least two years in a junior system in this country. It all comes down to where your ITC was issued I believe Corey will be a big boost for the GB team and I welcome any player that is eligible to play for GB to be up for selection. I think when Bryan Dafoe was playing he said he would of been delighted being called up for the GB national team if they was playing Pool A hockey and did not clash with NHL hockey. GB needs to start moving up the rankings in international hockey to get a better recognition world wide not just for players coming here, but mainly for funding and I think they are starting the realise that again. Where the GB team is seriously lacking compared with other national teams is in goal, mainly due to the fact there is not enough people in this country that know how to coach goalies to their potential. Such as Green. When he was younger he had huge potential, but now just looks poor, mainly due to bad coaching which you can see when he is in net and looking unnatural and uncomfortable

Perhaps Corey being in the GB squad will stop Thommo trying to get all our Brits.

Its nice to see Thompson not letting his ego get the better of him, same with Corey and putting their differences aside to better the country.
Alot of the time it is media spin to make our league more competitive but when push comes to shove coaches come together to better the sport.

Is it bettering the country's prospects long term though. I'm sure that some #sexyneilsonhockey will be great to watch, but how long will he be playing for GB? seems a short term measure that might harm the chances in a couple of years.
