An utterly forgettable game TBH, with little to recommend it as enjoyable. Mind you, sitting in a fridge to watch it didn't help - who the hell decided to turn the cold air blowers on all game?
Credit for twice coming back from a 2 goal deficit, but we got ourselves into that position in the first place, which is a real problem.
Highlight was Penner's haymaker on the Tulip - I suspect he will be seeing his own Stars for the journey back to Dundee! Have to say that, in common with many others, I didn't see any evidence of the apparent spearing by the Tulip, but he is a sneaky little git!
Wouldn't be surprised if Penner is cited by Dundee for delivering a sucker punch though - if he is, his return to the long-term suspended list will be swift!
Someone asked me if Zion was injured, or on 2 weeks notice and was just going through the motions? If he's injured, why does he get so much ice time? If he's on 2 weeks notice, get rid now, as his lack of commitment is rubbing off on others.
Finally, great to see K-Wall back in action, but I was left wondering if he has come back too soon, and possibly suffered a recurrence of the groin injury during the Penalty Shootout? I certainly hope not!

apart from saying it was Hicks can anybody else explain the game missconduct on Penner - should have been 10 mins at most - noticed Tait & Simon both got 10 mins for checking to the head @ Shuff - Carson effect - Checking from behind, not the head, and Simons was a shocking call.

Any video footage of the sucker punch going around? It wasn't a sucker punch, don't know how that rumour has started. Jay facewashed and speared our enforcer, what did he expect? Jay was facing him the whole time so at no point could you call it a sucker punch.

I'm not quite sure what was going through Latuillpe's mind - maybe he think's he's a heavyweight in disguise?!

We got there in the end but made hard work of it,we were prety bad in parts but not so bad in others, without Kudra i think we would of won that in regulation.
We made that more difficult than it needed to be but 2 points...at last

Played for about 5 minutes all game (including OT) Zion please get rid, lazy, wowful, need I go on! Dundee I would think are disappointed with only getting one point. Never mind, 2 points, chocolate on the ice... happy days :-)

Good leaders either step back and lead; or lead by example from the front......NIELSON hasn't done either for a very long time. For me he is a mediocre player and a poor coach. NEW BLOOD....NEW TEAM......NEW START ...please.

Dundee Stars deserve some respect for that performance IMHO... they're no longer the whipping boys that they were at the start of the season... they've made a few key changes, gelled as a team, and look like they're out there to win.
HOWEVER... even with all of that, they shouldn't have got anywhere near a single point. That was yet another pitiful performance from the Panthers... in hindsight, maybe expecting a dramatic turnaround just because K-Wall is back and Strachan is behind the bench was a bit optimistic... but I would have hoped to have seen SOME improvement! Being 2 D-men down didn't help (who says we don't need Danny Meyers on the ice, eh?) but really... what a welcome back for K-Wall, he was left hanging out to dry all game - he probably thought it was the start of the season again!
It was a bit disappointing to see Penner ejected again... on the one hand, it was a bit dumb to clobber Latulippe while Hicks was inbetween the two of them... however, Latulippe deserved it (and more!) and usually hits & runs anyway, so it was probably the only chance Penner would have had to clobber him. Pity it was only one punch, but ringing Latulippe's bell with one punch without even taking the gloves off? - impressive!
Like many others, I'm just getting sick and tired of Zion now. He caused a few problems earlier in the season with his overly-offensive style, but at least he was fast and creative then... now he's just slow (of skate, stick and reactions) and almost completely ineffective. Shape up or ship out, Zion... right now, you're dead weight. Tom Norton gets criticised as being not yet EIHL-ready, but at the moment I'd take him over Zion every day of the week.
Whitley Bay next... and with Newcastle getting utterly reamed 8-1, they're no doubt going to be itching to redeem themselves. Please, Panthers... just because the Vipers are at the bottom of the league, don't take them lightly.

Don't think you can call it a sucker punch, The Tulip started it, stopped...waited till the lino's were in, then started again. The little big man then pushes the official (who is holding him) into range and Penner unleashes a bomb and shuts him up. diserpointed as it was never a game misconduct, 2+2 for roughing on both would have been fine. Having said that, it took their best player out of the game and the Stars were noticably quiet after that.
Penner only got about 2 shifts and knocked the Stars out of their comfort zone on both occations.

Just logged to read the comments. No wonder the team are lacking in confidence! I also thought we did not do well and are carrying too many lazy players who are just happy being carried and paid their wages. I wonder why we are keeping Zion he is just so lazy. I have wondered lots about Corey but tonight I think he was better and his confidence must be shot too, he has taken so many bad comments about his play, for quite a while now but I felt last night he was better and least he put the effort in. We won in the end thanks mainly to Kowalski for saving the penalties shots and to some players who never fail in effort, Mat Myers, Jade, Mark Leivers, Lacko and even Norton who are mostly brits. Lets move on from here and get a win in Newcastle tonight, one game at a time.

I'm not pretending to know the rules, lol! The refs should either separate them or get out of the way IMO. I'll take our enforcer being thrown out if he takes their best player with him. What was with the Lino dropping the puck when none of our players were ready? is that in the rules? I though it was just 20/20? If the players aren't ready for the faceoff when the lino wants to drop the puck, its their own fault. The lino is within their right to drop it. It has happend before , when Dody wood was ready for face off at block 13 face off point , and defender was not even in the ring , lino dropped puck , wood slapped shot into net , GOAAAAAAAAAAL .

Another game where we had to chase to get a win and didn't look comfortable all night. Zion was awful and something needs to be done, because doesn't seem to be a blip as it has been going for too long, but what, he is going to be carry playing because we are 2 D-men down. Good to see tulip get lamped, cos he is a snidey player who rarely backs up his actions. Perhaps he thought that because Hicks had hold of Penner he could get away with it. Bit harsh for a 5+G for a single punch, but why only a game for spearing, there have been players receive a match ban for attempted spearing, still I suppose we can expect little more from Hicks, a referee who used to be indecisive but nows not so sure.

You ain't seen the video yet Someone else reported check to head, thanks for clearing that up. I don't even know who you're playing TBH No worries. TBF I'm going off the EIHL website so they could quite easily have been called for anything! We won 5-2 in Cov btw. I watched the webcast, the penalties indeed were both for checking from behind.

the spearing call was for a slight jab made between penners legs, it was more of an action to agitate rather than damage like when shepherd smashed dutiaume in the face... thats why i belive only a game was called and not a match penalty
